      @clayjay88, this ain't a conservative or democrat thing. It's a politicians fucking everyone thing. Doesn't matter who's in. Rich Men, North Of Richmond. Just as many rich democrats as there are republicans. None of them ever helped my pocket money. They've all either made it where I brought home less through some sort of legislation.

      You know they don't miss vacations, or meals, or need to use food banks. And that's what so many people are missing with the welfare portion of it. There's so many people struggling that could use it, really need it but make too much according to the system and fall through the cracks destined to perpetually struggle.

      Our young men come out of school, (I don't care WHAT school) and it's tough to get traction. Some come out with $200,000 in debt, and can't get hired! Some come home from the desert broken because of what they've seen, and maybe can't sleep, or work, or have other issues. Some young men drop into drugs or alcohol. Where are the people to help that don't cost huge money? We've lost some very, very good men to these problems.

    • @middleriverdwd
      @middleriverdwd ปีที่แล้ว

      I've noticed that also. The reactors almost always ignore that line..... perhaps because there's so much to the previous line OR being more cynical they don't want to risk being demonitized. Still....the suicide pandemic is a symptom of the crooked system the DC politicians have subjected the working class to everyday.

If I took the time and posted a daily reaction of Nightwish, Home Free and Band Maid Id be at 5k in a month. Already had over 2k before this reaction. More than blowing up reaction channels it keeps his song in the algorithim.

    [Verse 1]
    I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day
    Overtime hours for bullshit pay
    So I can sit out here and waste my life away
    Drag back home and drown my troubles away
    [Pre-Chorus]
    It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
    For people like me and people like you
    Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
    But it is, oh, it is
    Livin' in the new world
    With an old soul
    These rich men north of Richmond
    Lord knows they all just wanna have total control
    Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do
    And they don't think you know, but I know that you do
    'Cause your dollar ain't shit and it's taxed to no end
    'Cause of rich men north of Richmond
    [Verse 2]
    I wish politicians would look out for miners
    And not just minors on an island somewhere
    Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothin' to eat
    And the obese milkin' welfare
    [Verse 3]
    Well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds
    Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds
    Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground
    'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down
    [Pre-Chorus]
    Lord, it's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
    For people like me and people like you
    Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
    But it is, oh, it is

The cost of living and inflation has made the lower and middle class be paycheck to paycheck. No longer can a man work hard and save up for a family vacation, every last dime is going to rent/ mortgage, groceries, etc.

Things have been rising in price and the buying power has been dropping since before Covid but it seems that during it, and since it's been over the government has really ramped up the attempts at controlling everything and the buying power has just went to shit. 4 years ago I was able to take my family up to Boston and DC for a week trip. Haven't been able to afford anything like it since. Hell I could barely afford it then. Now though it's like everything has just went up so much in price that traveling of any kind seems to be a pipe dream.

He told me something that has stuck with me for 50 years. "There is no shame going on Welfare. That is why we work and pay taxes. So that help is there when we need it. The only shame is staying on it longer than needed". Too many shameful people out there today.

    I don't think his reference is only to the politicians but the whole political system including the sponsors, lobbyist etc etc. I am from Europe and this sounds to me as a typical working class (hero) song. The pain he expresses is the origin of the socialist movement and targets the ruling class and the choices they make, not any one group or person within the population.

    Wow! I've been listening to reaction videos to this truthful lament on and off for days.
    Seems each content creator manages to raise an issue or make a point that triggers a reaction/strikes a nerve within me. In this reaction, it's the issue of the abuse of welfare/food stamps. As a single mother at the time, I made $11 too much to qualify for any assistance. Yep...$11! It was the food banks, the store that sold the dented cans at a discount, asking farmers if I could go through after harvest and pick up the vegetables rotting on the ground, going out with my kids to places where wild fruit grew....grapes, berries, pears, apples, etc. and coming home after a 10 hour work day to can the harvest, make vegetable soup in bulk, etc. from what we were able to scrounge up around the area. It was hard work on top of an exhausting job and we as a family have some of our best memories of talking about school, their friends, life, choices, consequences, the adventure of finding a berry patch or a fruit tree, etc.
    My children saw what work ethic looked and felt like in action, how family values looked and felt like, how teamwork benefitted the whole, and so much more. They learned to cook in that farm to table style that's so popular today because we lived it!
    We considered ourselves a family unit, with a common purpose, and bonded through these experiences that included lots of laughter, pranks, fun, and love.
    I can say that my children are very successful in their adult lives. They attribute their self sufficiency, resilience, work ethic, and numerous other values and traits to those years spent growing up in the rich environment of our home... it's astonished me how they didn't realize we were financially poor, although I didn't realize we were financially poor in my own childhood. I don't know that I recommend the 80 hour work weeks for years upon years, surviving on about 4 hours of sleep a night since this body eventually broke down from the stresses and strains and injuries. However, the closeness, love, support, respect, and consideration we have for each other is most definitely priceless. 💜

    In the uk. A lot of companies stopped overtime rate. You could ask for overtime and they might ask you for overtime but it’s now paid at your hourly rate. No time plus third or time plus half. Been like that for years now

      @EBReacts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow. Take out the overtime pay I'm not asking and not working when you ask. No over 40 straight pay. Damn all that. That's the only reason I didn't mind working 20-30 hours of overtime, the extra money after the extra taxes that were needful.

    • @elliotthyde5623
      @elliotthyde5623 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EBReacts well I do the overtime anyway because what else you going to do if you need the money. It’s not right and perhaps if everyone stopped doing overtime the companies would feel it. I try to look at what I getting as opposed to what I’m losing. Probably not helping the overall cause but it still means an extra £100 a week.

    I am poor but I still count myself as lucky compared to poverty in other countries where there is literally no help nor hope. People are not luving, they are merely surviving. The reason people on welfare are also often obese is because they can only afford the cheapest of processed foods. Scientifically proven if all you can eat is processed food then no matter how busy or active you are, you are not going to lose weight. The real problem is that in US the wages per hour are so low that working 60 to 70 hours a week, you are often not earning what Europeans are under law for working part time. The lowest minimum wage in UK is about £10.00 per hour but at that wage you would likely especially if you have kids get your rent paid, council tax (paying for trash removal etc) would be reduced significantly, you would have universal credit which is like tax credits, free school meals etc and of coutse health care is free and in Scotland prescriptions snd university and college education is free. Even with that though there are people who uf they earn £1.00 over the limits sets they get no help at all and we also now have people using food banks who are getting paid middle class wages becayse of energy, mortgage and inflation prices and yet there are more millionnaires and billionnaires than there has ever been.

      I think we should have mercy on people who are in a rut on welfare as it is a loop they cannot escape ....they need training and job opportunities. Welfare is a means of controlling the population keeping them fat and hopeless on cheap poison food loaded with MSG and high fructose corn syrup...where they eat ramen and PBJ because it is cheap. There is no way anyone can survive on welfare alone it is not what people think....I know if someone could make a decent living they would not choose to be on welfare ...the system does not empower people it holds them down.
