This is a package opener feature on the large flat screwdriver tool.
One important thing to note: this is truly a ONE HAND multi-tool (Px, Tx, Kx) for all tools.
Leatherman has shown its great capacity for innovation and engineering with its FREE models.

I have both the surge and the wave and the p4 is my favorite as a practical edc multitool. One hand operation and easy deployment are advantages that I will never go back from again. Had huge anxiety that I was going to miss the bit holder but haven’t even once actually needed it. Free is by far my favorite multitool and I bet if you use it for over a couple weeks you will agree.
Side note: fidget factor is 100/10

This has been my every day carry at work and away from work for about 8 months now and I love it. I mostly use it over the surge for the one handed operation. I work in residential construction and I mostly use the serrated knife for package opening, the large flat and phillips drivers and the scissors. But its been great for me so far

This is a great tool for older folks like my Dad and his best bud who are now in their early 80's.They still have their 1st gen Leatherman tools and wear them every day. Now that they are having tactile issues, I am building them both a tricked out P4 with the bit holder from zapwizard. Doing offset colored cutter blades, and cool pocket clips from Donk.
I am also getting them each bit kits and ratchet drivers (when they are back in stock at a reasonable price)
Lol Amazon is gauging them for $68 at the moment so $74 with tax or so. Meanwhile I will keep fiddling with their P4's so they are butter smooth when I gift them.

That sounds like an amazing project and very thoughtful! I love how it's turning out! As far as a light I'm not sure, there aren't many good options. If they switch out the serrated blade for a file and then replace the file with a small serrated blade like on the sidekick which is perfectly capable of cutting rope then this tool would be great. Also add the ruler to the large flat head and make the ruler something else like a chisel or something. Oh! and also make a proper awl! I dont need 5 flat heads! I had a P4 since they first came out. It was a birthday gift so I will keep it but I really don’t like it in its current form. The scissors aren’t very good compared to a Victorinox, the lack of a bit driver is a deal breaker and the file is not really very useful.
Also, I tried to use this tool but I’m around a lot of metal and metal filings and it gunks up pretty easily. That in and of itself isn’t a dealbreaker but it’s just one more problematic thing.
If they added a bit driver and replaced the saw with a blade exchanger ala the Surge, I’d definitely be interested.
Otherwise it’s a mediocre tool at a premium price.

Is the only leatherman Almost comparable with Victorinox swisstool quality.
If It wosnt for the usual leatherman poor and soft pliers steel. Specially in the pivot. After few hard wire cutting muy free p4 be came with a horrendous play in the pliers. Worst than MY others leatherman.
With a Little mod in the Phillips screwdriver i can use the leatherman bit adapter.
Leatherman must absolutley improve steel quality or Heat treatment.
