    best video on this knife. also, this is the nicest looking leatherman by far in my opinion.

    You can loosen the plier head by punching with a flat punch on the side where the rivet moves with the plier head. You put something like a ratchet socket on the otherside of the rivet and wack on the punch with a hammer! I did it for my signal and it was instantaneous ! No more binding or difficulty to open and no play !Try it out !!

      I have. Mine still tightened right back up as soon as I squeezed hard.

    I modded mine somewhat. The serrated blade a point was filed on it, the saw was made sharper on the front edge and made a point for drywall.

    I did something similar to this with my P2. Removed the junk and put what i needed, now its perfect for my everyday carry. I felt the P4 was just a little to big for everything i needed. I out my Skeletool aside for now

    Try embedding a magnet or 2 in the top of the holster. They can act as drag friction when ejecting the P4 so it doesn't pop out.

    Considering this video was made 4 years ago…. Should I point out that the tools you have in your Free P(x) are the same ones in my Arc? I waited until Leatherman had the tool I wanted (One handed, tools on the outside, American made, premium blade steel) to buy one. I have had zero problems.

  • @inkiron3907

    First time I used the Free P4 wire cutters the pliers seized... Leatherman had to replace the whole tool for me! My Surge is rock solid after years of abuse... let’s call me skeptical about their recent performance as a manufacturer. I believe they can do better! I like your mods, and get why you are cautious about losing it somewhere!

    Not sure if this is anything, but I noticed that when you pulled the tool out, it seemed like you were activating the tool locks?

  • @johnkraemer5505
    @johnkraemer5505 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with you about Leatherman! Over the last five years or so ….. All departments (R&D, Manuf, QC, Sales & Marketing, etc) have been falling flat on their faces! I have been saying for years, that Leatherman needs to migrate away from their proprietary bit driver to a 1/4 inch bit driver. Leatherman has been asleep at the wheel! Hopefully, they get their act together for the release of the Arc!

    Ive been looking into what multitool to get and every video ive seen on the leatherman multitools the person would list a negative just to compliment the very thing they said was a negative. Then none of them had the tools i would like/need to have on them, one would have some then another would have the others then another. I saw the leathermen free, liked how it worked but hated the tools and dismissed it until now. Your videos on modding this tool has helped me deside to just get the tools i like and put them into the free, because im not gonna get all the leathermans and carry them in a tool chest. 🤔 Although i feel like thats what leatherman whats us to do with how the useful tools are spread between the different models.

  • @BADD1ONE

    I started carrying a leatherman again after i learned about the belt/pocket clips that can be used. I had an original wave but you cant put the clip on it so i bought the second wave not the plus i dont like the plus. I wouldn't carry a leatherman in a sheath of any kind. It just seems like to much.

      I am glad you liked it. I make these type of videos in the summer when it is to hot to go outside here in AZ. I plan to revisit this tool in the future. I wish I could give you specifics on what I did but I can't remember. I will try and answer your questions in the future though.

      @@NewZonaRides I'll eagerly await the next summer vids. In the meantime, here's what I used:
      Big washer, serrated blade, spring, opener thingy, ruler, spring, t-shank adapter.
      Big washer, scissors, spring, small washer, flat bit holder, small washer, spring, main blade, big washer.
      The new scalpel holder is still printing so I don't know how this will change yet. Again, thank you for your videos! My wife hates you for getting me into this, but she'll come around when I start fixing things around the house.

    It's a shame that one has to spend a bunch of money on such an expensive tool after purchase to make it work the way it should from the factory.
    Long live the Wave, Charge and Surge!

    • @erico2079
      @erico2079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you are expecting something to function as a wave surge or a charge why not just get one of those...i here all these people complaining about this same thing, it's kinda dumb to be honest...it's different so why would it be the same....smh

    • @OX71
      @OX71 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erico2079 critiquing a tool that cost significantly more to own and then doesn't have practical functionality is not dumb, having to strip out parts to make it work better is dumb.
      The criticism may result in leatherman making better tools, that isn't dumb.
      You think people should just be happy with what they get, fine you go and spend your money on it and let the rest of us try to improve our chances to get what we want.
