Assassin's Creed is so *meant* for VR - i mean, the fact that the whole game is basically your character going into a kind of VR environment to learn history makes VR adaptation as natural as going from walking to running. I will definitely be picking it up now.
Hey I don't know if you will even see this, but I wanted to say thank you for playing RE4 remake in vr all the way through and everything else you do. There is a reason your the only vr content creator I watch. I don't feel like I need to find anyone else. And specifically thanks for playing the RE4 remake vr, I recently got a ps5, about a month ago, and that was with having saved up gift cards for a few years. I may never get my hands on psvr2. I will be getting my first PlayStation 5 and PSVR2 in January. Looking forward to playing RE8 and RE4 remake in VR for the first time. (as in never played either one of these games yet.)
Neither of those games scared me at all (although a certain section in 8 with a baby was disturbing)....until I played them in VR. RE 8 VR in particular really messed with me.
It is great, but I still feel like RE8 is a better VR adaptation when it comes interactivity. Still incredible that both VR modes were free updates. So glad that Capcom has continued VR support since RE7.
What a great year for VR 🎉 I currently think the PSVR2 is worth its money with the amazing patch for NMS and ofc RE4R. Not even mentioning the other games such as walking dead,RE8 and GT7. Eventually I want to buy the Q3 as well, since it has alot of other great experiences/features and games.
I have a psvr2 and I never touch it since getting the Q3. It’s pretty much leagues behind in my opinion, and with pcvr, psvr2 is basically useless. I’m gonna give mine to my friend
@djdivero I still find the cable a problem in active games. I like the freedom of Quest3, even when sat down. I like the mixed reality, playing on a pool table in my playroom, or a bowling lane for example. I like the choices of games I can get from Quest overall and I like I can try a game for 2 hours and get a refund if I don't like it. Though I will say GT7 is just about the best experience in VR.
I’m curious Benjo, before this year what was your top 5 greatest VR games of all time? Because for me personally, I feel like this year has not only shook up the top 10, but even the top 5. I even feel like there’s at least 6 games that came out this year that shake up the top 25 VR Games of all time on any platform. Village, GT7, RE4, Vertigo 2, Nexus and Asgards Wrath 2 are all amongst the greatest VR games I’ve ever played.
I think I might have put Arizona Sunshine 2 in there, maybe in the honorable mentions. Mostly because it surprised me that it actually hit me in the feels a couple of times, which I absolutely did not expect from the game. And I was glued to it more than many other games this year. I love that you put The Light Brigade this high up, it really is an amazing game! I probably would have personally ranked Vertigo 2 higher, I thoroughly enjoyed that one, and it's the game I spent the most time in this year. But overall, this is pretty much spot on. I can't really judge the PSVR2 stuff because I don't own one, but it feels pretty right.
Nothing comes close to RE4 PSVR2. Im so glad Sony is holing it down in a new gaming tech space. I hope to see even more greatness out of them next year.

Pitch dark endowed by the oled panel, haptic feeling powered by psvr2 sense controllers, and the intense combat in RE4 remake vr mode brings an experience that is not available on other vr platforms, making it one of the biggest system sellers in years to come, just like the OG RE4 did for NGC. By the way, I am glad you didn't put AS2 on your list, it feels like an AS1.2.0.
I've always been a PC gamer, and more into scifi than horror or fantasy, but allowing for that I don't find your list too controversial. Vertigo 2 and The Light Brigade were real standouts for me with their combination of stylised graphics and presentation, along with solid VR mechanics. Looking forward to playing Asgards Wrath 2.

Powerwash Sim in VR is sublime. I loved this in flatscreen so I was always gunna like it VR. Its so zen like I feel like chanting "ommm" while I play it :P I was kind of disappointed that the Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider levels they added for free in flatscreen are not there, but I am hoping that they come in the future. I mean the work and the assets are already there, its just a matter of getting it into the VR version.

I miss Cube Arena in this list for sure. The first MOBA with classic map like DOTA 2 or League of legends with Minecraft graphics. This sounds insane. You should definitely put it into the next top games even it’s still in app lab and still in development

Loved this 2023 summary mate. I agreed with everything except the order....... I had Vertigo 2 ahead of 7th Guest which I LOVED. That's a Vertigo 2 compliment, not AT ALL a 7th Guest diss. Well done.
Good year for vr, you are right. After having played some hours of AW2 (est. the same amount of time I played re4vr last week), I would say: aw2, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Re4 ist a great flat game experience and it is good to have the vr mode. But honestly: they implemented motion controls and low res stereoscopic vr. No real physics or interaction. The only thing special about it, is the quality of the original game. Well, tastes and preferences are different. Maybe - but only maybe - I would have chosen re4vr, if I was a re die hard fan, like you are.
The graphics are also amazing in re4 wich isn't something you normally get in vr. Only a few games can compare to the graphics quality and vr is a medium that's supposed to be immersive and good graphics go a long way in vr.
@@stefandinu6389 I didn't say the graphics are not good. But they are realtively low res. Everything from a mid distance away from you is far from looking sharp. And psvr2's natural mura makes things even worse. Again: from a technical pov, re4vrs graphic are very good. Still: What did they do, to use real vr mechanics? Interaction with the environment other than shooting some talisman? Climbing ladders? Opening doors? I think, their biggest changes are the implementation of throwing your knife and manual reloading. There could have been so much more...
I was going to sell my PSVR2 early in December, but I waited for RE4.....oh I'm so glad I did....The game blew my socks off. And now I'm playing Asgard's Wrath 2 which is also A-MAZ-ING! Such a great year for VR. Merry Christmas everybody!

Can you please post the sushi ben video. Sometimes gameplay can just be a playthrough when the games dialogue is interesting enough. I watched a walkthrough of Grimm Fandango because I only had the demo as a child and now couldn't play it. Months later the remaster was announced and I bought it and played myself because the playthrough video was like a funny movie.
Assetto Corsa and Project cars 1-2-3 is also pretty damn good VR racers for PCVR. And Automobilista 2 is also really really good. And Assetto Corsa also has a ton of mods that IMO make it the best racing game to support VR yet to be available.
I think 8 and 7 deserved to be at least 5 and 4 and I also think that just because RE4R is on the list, doesn’t mean RE8 couldn’t be But I’m so glad you had The Light Brigade on the list, and so far up on it. That game was such an amazing surprise for me. It’s my Destiny for VR, in the sense that it somehow perfects the FPS experience. From the way it feels to handle and shoot guns, to all the satisfying UI touches. And I usually hate using WWI/WWII weapon systems Overall it was a pretty good list, for an amazing year’s lineup 🔥🔥🔥
Glad Propagation: Paradise Hotel made it on here. I actually haven't played much survival horror. I've experienced the genre primarily through LPs on TH-cam. But I got Paradise Hotel for free from a giveaway, figured I'd give it a shot, and wound up falling in love with its atmosphere and classic survival horror mechanics adapted to VR. Really gave me some renewed confidence in taking on survival horror.
That game was awesome. Its a shame it was basically just half a game,but the price was fair so I can't complain yoo much about it. Can't wait for the sequel.
VR exclusives are just such a dumb idea. Sitting here with my Index and thinking about what to play, everything is either a PSVR2 exclusive or Quest exclusive ... Welp, guess I'm not buying anything.
As a quest user who uses steam link i also hate the exclusives. Why make a really long game like aw2 when you have only have 2 or 3 hours of battery life?
Does anyone know how PSVR2 RE4 Remake VR (that's a mouthful!) compares to RE4 on the Quest 3? The Quest version is a couple years old now (and currently on sale) and was just wondering where that sits. It has great reviews - anyone given it a run?
Too bad I won't be able to enjoy those games because during an update on my Quest 2 my headset stopped working. But Meta said they could not help me because I had no warranty. I bought an Oculus Go, Quest, Quest 2, and a boat load of games. I was willing to pay for the repairs. The options I was given was buy a used Quest 2 to save money. Or explore the possibility of buying a Quest 3. And this was after calling me a loyal customer. Shouldn't that go both ways. So now I am left with a very expensive paperweight, unless I want to put more money in Meta's pocket. I am 68, disabled, and on a fixed income. Meta took it away.
By far best VR content year so far, Meta specially absolutely smashed it!!!!! We finally made it boys, to the point of no return for VR, from now on its all about who is growing further, VR now is relevant in the big market.
What frustrates me the most with PSVR2, is that if Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo & Capcom can turn Res 7, 8 & 4 remake into VR games while still having the brilliant graphics, why aren't other game makers doing this? God of War, Last of us etc as too many VR games graphics are so sub standard, that they spoil the immersion.
Really bummed people don't talk about Stellaris it's the best rogelite on the quest but it's not a first person so nobody cares this is why every dam cr game is exactly the same
I feel like I'm the only one who was disappointed with the RE4 VR port. VR is, for me, mostly about immersion. Quick-cutting to a 3rd person view every single time I melee an enemy was 100% immersion breaking and since I prefer to play on hard, I need to utilize melee's a lot to conserve on ammo. If it was something that happened every 5 minutes or so it would be aggravating but tolerable, but it was happening every 5 seconds in every big fight scene and I was like "yeah, this just aint it man."
When they figure out how to move woth out using a button to move forward and backwards ill buy one everything is kewl but using abutton to move forward kinda ruins it for me.
I get that RE4 is a great game but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one tired playing RE4 every 5 years with a new release. lol I'm dying for the day that RE 7 gets a remake with vr and motion controller support. THAT is top tier RE for me. I even prefer 5 over 4 just because of how played out 4 is.
Fair enough that RE4 is your favourite, but I find that a bit of a disservice to games like Asgards Wrath 2. RE4 VR was an afterthought and is similar to the previous RE4 VR, just with better graphics. We ask for bigger better VR experiences then reward companies who add basic VR mods to their existing games, locked behind a specific headset. All good, just annoyed that they don't add the feature to PC.

Re4 might be best Vr game of all time. I don't care that all the mechanics are not made from the ground up for vr. Amazing experience

Asgard's Wrath 2 is truly mind blowing. It feels like a Nintendo magic polished open world VR game.

Glad Propagation: Paradise Hotel made it on here. I actually haven't played much survival horror. I've experienced the genre primarily through LPs on TH-cam. But I got Paradise Hotel for free from a giveaway, figured I'd give it a shot, and wound up falling in love with its atmosphere and classic survival horror mechanics adapted to VR. Really gave me some renewed confidence in taking on survival horror.
That game was awesome. Its a shame it was basically just half a game,but the price was fair so I can't complain yoo much about it. Can't wait for the sequel.
VR exclusives are just such a dumb idea.

As a quest user who uses steam link i also hate the exclusives. Why make a really long game like aw2 when you have only have 2 or 3 hours of battery life?

Does anyone know how PSVR2 RE4 Remake VR (that's a mouthful!) compares to RE4 on the Quest 3? The Quest version is a couple years old now (and currently on sale) and was just wondering where that sits. It has great reviews - anyone given it a run?
Too bad I won't be able to enjoy those games because during an update on my Quest 2 my headset stopped working. But Meta said they could not help me because I had no warranty. I bought an Oculus Go, Quest, Quest 2, and a boat load of games. I was willing to pay for the repairs. The options I was given was buy a used Quest 2 to save money. Or explore the possibility of buying a Quest 3. And this was after calling me a loyal customer. Shouldn't that go both ways. So now I am left with a very expensive paperweight, unless I want to put more money in Meta's pocket. I am 68, disabled, and on a fixed income. Meta took it away.
By far best VR content year so far, Meta specially absolutely smashed it!!!!!
We finally made it boys, to the point of no return for VR, from now on its all about who is growing further, VR now is relevant in the big market.
What frustrates me the most with PSVR2, is that if Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo & Capcom can turn Res 7, 8 & 4 remake into VR games while still having the brilliant graphics, why aren't other game makers doing this? God of War, Last of us etc as too many VR games graphics are so sub standard, that they spoil the immersion.

It’s probably not the best game on quest compared to games like Resident Evil 4, but Sail VR is a really good game
Really bummed people don't talk about Stellaris it's the best rogelite on the quest but it's not a first person so nobody cares this is why every dam cr game is exactly the same

I would put on second place re Village, and no man's sky (the psvr2 version needs more praise). But its just my opinion
I feel like I'm the only one who was disappointed with the RE4 VR port. VR is, for me, mostly about immersion. Quick-cutting to a 3rd person view every single time I melee an enemy was 100% immersion breaking and since I prefer to play on hard, I need to utilize melee's a lot to conserve on ammo. If it was something that happened every 5 minutes or so it would be aggravating but tolerable, but it was happening every 5 seconds in every big fight scene and I was like "yeah, this just aint it man."
RE4 remake is also just pain crap

When they figure out how to move woth out using a button to move forward and backwards ill buy one everything is kewl but using abutton to move forward kinda ruins it for me.

I get that RE4 is a great game but sometimes I feel like I'm the only one tired playing RE4 every 5 years with a new release. lol I'm dying for the day that RE 7 gets a remake with vr and motion controller support. THAT is top tier RE for me. I even prefer 5 over 4 just because of how played out 4 is.
Fair enough that RE4 is your favourite, but I find that a bit of a disservice to games like Asgards Wrath 2. RE4 VR was an afterthought and is similar to the previous RE4 VR, just with better graphics. We ask for bigger better VR experiences then reward companies who add basic VR mods to their existing games, locked behind a specific headset. All good, just annoyed that they don't add the feature to PC.
You willing to wait 2-3 years for AAA to be built from ground up instead then? Yea ok! Stop moaning! The end result would probs be the same anyway

You're almost 40! That's not what I expected. Getting old my friend. The years have been kind to you...however... the years go by faster the older you get unfortunately.That's what I've been told at least. I'm still young though. This year was good for VR not incredible in my opinion. Could have been better. Still good though. Honestly I thought you were a little younger. At least 34 or something like that. No PSVR2 here, so discounting those there are no arguments that all the games mentioned deserve to be there. 👍
