    Honey! Your momma took me back when she put that skillet cornbread in that bowl and added that buttermilk! Lawd have mercy! Now THAT is what really made this video one of my favorites! My momma would fix me a bowl when I came home from school and that cornbread would be nice and warm with that cold buttermilk. A match made in heaven. :) I love, love, love you two in the kitchen together. Cherish every second with your Queen Momma! I lost my mom (pictured with me on my profile pic) on 11/25/2019 and this Thanksgiving 2021 she will be sorely missed but in her memory I want to throw down in the kitchen and celebrate with the family, giving God the Glory for the precious memories of our beloved Queen Momma/Grandmoma/Great-Grandmother! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video and family recipe. God Bless You both!

      Same with me regarding the loss of my mom (and dad, 8 months prior to the death of my mom). Watching this video brought tears to my eyes. Ms. Pal and my mother could have been sisters. I was getting intimated about preparing dressing this Christmas because of forgetting a few details and not being able to call and ask. I so appreciated this video and the dialog. I'm ready!!!

    ...yeeessss, got to have that rubbed type sage. I love my sage in dressing. I once gave my neighbor some of my dressing. First thing that comes out of her mouth was, "ow, u got too much sage", I responded, "no I don't", again she said, "yes u do", again I said, "NO I DO NOT", and I told her I made this how I and my family like it, therefore, it may not be to YOUR liking, but I cook to MY liking. Growing up in the country, we too had pear preserves, we knew nothing about cranberry sauce. To all reading this, be blessed and stay safe.

    • @courtneyjames8223
      @courtneyjames8223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      You probably did put to much sage 😂...that doesn't have nothing to do if you from the south or not.. to much sage turn your dressing green and can be to much over powering..to much sage mess up dressing and my family is from Louisiana.

      @@courtneyjames8223 ...as the old folks use to say, "I beg to differ" 🤭. When u are cooking for your personal self n family, u add as much, or less, to your likings. Also, my dressing has never been green, because of the sage. I also know of someone who doesn't put any sage in their dressing. Again...to each their own. By the way... this person who said I had too much sage, when she fry fish, she uses only salt n pepper to fry fish. I could have voiced my opinion, but I didn't. I just added my own seasoning,(Season All, n garlic powder, or fish seasoning, n garlic powder) to the fish she gave me. As they say..."it's all good". Be blessed and stay safe.

    • @tooblessedmiller6937
      @tooblessedmiller6937 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@johnnylapsick6826 all ight now! If u don't like it,... throw it away. I would never tell another person, their dish has to much of this or that. I AIN'T fixing to change my seasoning for no one who isn't family. By the way... there are those who make " corn bread dressing", n there are those who make stuffing. Personally, I DON'T like stuffing. If I see it, I just say, " no thank you", and move on. I've read that blacks usually eat corn bread dressing, whereas whites mostly eat stuffing. I once heard a tv host tell her audience, blacks makes dressing, and sweet potato pies, while whites makes stuffing and pumpkin pies. I also once watched a dressing contest on "The Chew", a tv food show. The white females contestant never heard of corn bread dressing, which is what the black female contestant made. The female who made the corn bread dressing, DIDN'T have a chance of winning 😕,bc, the other two contestants never had it before, n probably didn't like the texture of the corn bread dressing.🙄 I didn't mean to go on n on n on, but I wanted to put my thoughts out there. Be blessed and stay safe.

    I came across this video a year ago when I was determined to make a homemade dressing. (previous attempts failed...too soupy or not enough flavor) BUT I followed this last year and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE said it was the best dressing they ever had in their life! I am making it again this year for the holidays.... heck, I may make it randomly during the year too lol LOVE watching you gals cook and your momma is a gem! Be blessed!

    I generally boil chicken thighs(dark meat, more flavor). But I always sauté just celery and onions. But the rest of the recipe is similar… And I just love your Moms energy. And where I’m from, we say, “Not Never”…..😂👌🏾💯❤️

    ON NO YOU DIDN'T MAKE A BOWL OF CORNBREAD AND MILK!!!!! Now, that's old school.. Ladies you took me home. I grew up on this. Tears are rolling downy face. Thank you do very much.
    p.s. tell your mother you love her everyday. My mom left me 11 years ago at 92. Less than a year after my father left me who was 99. We ate home-cooked meals like this everyday. I miss them everyday. Please. Please, please tell your loved ones you love them while they are still here. My cousin used to say "Give me my flower whilst I can smell them. Thanks for taking me home again.
    p.p.s. look forward to more videos from you and your lovely mom!

      I totally agree! My former Aide, a few days ago said to me:your great grandchildren are going to have to share you with me! My response to her: you’re in for a rude awakening if you think that they are going to intentionally share me with you! My great grands that she was talking about are almost 5 years old and 19 months old. They LOVE them some me! YES! But I’m always going to LOVE ❤️ THEM MORE!

      I don't want to cook my vegetables before adding them. Once I cook them again in the dressing, they will be overcooked and lose some of their taste. I am vegetarian, so my mother didn't put poultry stock in mine. So I had my own separate pan. Enjoy.
