And that very negligence cost them $3,000,000, but does that really cover the damage? Is there any amount that can truly erase the pain and suffering of losing your loved one? I don’t think so. Sure it may make things somewhat simpler, but it’ll never replace them. And it seems like this sort of thing only happens to people who truly care about the ones that are sick. There are so many elderly patients who are shuffled away into horrible retirement homes and their families could truly care less about them. But they don’t ever seem to have this type of answer to their own needs. The want to get rid of them. It’s a harsh truth but Those of you who work in the medical field know exactly what I mean. They aren’t the ones who are getting the huge paydays for their loss. That would be too easy. And if you ask me they shouldn’t! I genuinely wonder if he bragged the entire time to get the other pilot out of the cockpit so he could bring the kids up there. We'll never know for sure, but you gotta be S-class oblivious to not know the person you are talking to is both checked out and annoyed. Even ppl who have trouble with social cues would pick up on the lack of engagement. So I dunno. I think it was planned and he knew had had to get the pilot out of there to get his kids up in the cockpit. I don't think it was malicious, I don't think he was hoping hiskids would crash the plane, I just think he wanted a cool dad moment and it cost the life of many, his children included.

The last story is similar to Joseph Schexnider of Abbeville, Louisiana who suddenly disappeared without a trace one day in 1984. Fast forward 27 years later in 2011 and a renovation crew was tearing out a chimney in a bank right there in town. When the workers were removing the bricks, they found human bones. When the police retrieved the remains, they found Thomas’s identification. He had been right there the entire time. The police believed he got stuck in the chimney like Thomas, and remained entombed until they found him. Even had he screamed as loud as he could, the sound would have been directed upward and no one on the street would have heard him. The bank had never used fireplaces, and both of them had been sealed off when the space was occupied. That must have been a horrific way to die, but he played a stupid game and won a stupid prize.

You people are amazing!". He said that on his third tour of Iraq, their kitchen was blown up in a mortar attack. They were restricted to two MREs a day. They got back from patrol one day and found a HUGE pile of boxes waiting for them. They couldn't imagine what was in them. The boxes were all crammed with food, and they were all from Soldiers' Angels. They all had notes saying "We're proud of you" and "We love you". They had a feast that night, and they still had food left from us when they got their new kitchen. I told him that my kids and I had sent two of those boxes, and I didn't think I'd get my hand back! That was just amazing. I had to take my kids back to meet him. He insisted.

I have been using your style/technique/approach to story telling (as well as story development and writing style for my older and adult students) as a “genre” in my classes. The students really enjoy putting the “twists” that are prevalent in your work into their sketches. They are given a topic, and within 10 minutes they must create a scene based on a few suggestions- a place, a scenario, and characters- which is then acted out. The level of incompetence in the hospital story is just STAGGERING! 1) They left a KNOWN flight risk of a patient unsecured in an unmonitored room that was immediately adjacent to an EXIT door?! 2) In their search of the building, not one person thought to check the balconies? 3) In almost 3 weeks, only ONE person so much as looked out the window to the landing. And even though he called it in, he didn't bother to even open the door and ask if she was alright? and 4) Security knew there was a patient missing and when they got a call about a patient on the balcony, NO ONE went to follow up with that?! Insane... I'm glad the family sued and won! I hope that hospital was shut down!

Hey, i watch your vids for awhile, around 4 years now.
I know that for entertainment purposes you add a couple of details here and there.
With the first story: real deal was that pilots were not trained for new aircraft. Son didnt disengage the AP, this plane has a system where it has separate control surfaces for AP and pilot. So what was happening there, his son fought the AP long and strong enough with opposite inputs (ap tried to stabilise the plane, son tried to roll) that ap switched off the roll channel but maintained control over the pith and yaw.
Heres the deal, the ap was using rudder and elevator to control the altitude while son was rolling. It turned normal bank into a combined turn, and in a well-executed combined turn, overloads on the plane make it so it feels as if it is flying level. So there was no way for pilots to "feel" The bank, and they were too unfamiliar and overconfident at the same time to look at instruments and see the over 45 degree bank. It also was what prompted the "bank angle" Alert implementation.
When aircraft went almost sideways, autopilot deactivated the elevator and rudder channels causing a slight stall and jolt, and second pilot took overthe controls, trying to stabilise. Because plane used so much elevator authority, and because of a tight combined turn it went through it bled off a lot of speed, almost causing a stall. Second pilot did everything correctly, nosing down and going full throttle, but overcorrected when pulling back up, which caused a now massive stall, sending plane downwards. Second pilot corrected the satll again, bynosing down eventually, regaining control, but wasnt able to pull up before the plane hit the ground.
The main issue was that all three pilots failed to spot the bank, and deactivation of roll autopilot that caused it, when navigation system clearly show them that they are deviating from course. And intruments showing the bank., nobody just looked on the instruments, untill it was too late. You can even hear them dicussing new system as glitching out when it clearly shown that they are going off course.
What happened after was inevitable, since second in command has done it almost right.
Nowadays thats a scare story to learn IFR and know your instruments through and through, a cautionary tale for generations to come in russian universities and flught schools.
My background: PPL, CPL, for rn unlocking my ATPL. Graduated Ulyanovsk flight college, majoring in flight exploitation of aircraft(roughly translated Russian major name).
Ulyanovsk FC is probably top 2 in russia for pilots. SPBGUGA is second(st ptsbg flight college of civil aviation)
Tho Ulyanovsk is more old school and military inclined.

GO HOME"??? Like I'm just so baffled. What type of search did they even do??

Hey MrBallen, convinced one of my old Army pals to reach out to Better Help. We are both disabled combat vets (Army 01-05) we live on opposite coasts so him having something like this, that can be there when his friends can’t, and give him the help he needs is huge. Especially because it’s separate from any VA politics. He is doing a lot better. Just wanted to give a shout out and thanks. Appreciate it MrBallen.

@@drawgam2946both of the things you said are true yes. Therapy is super expensive here, even for people who were promised they’d be taken care of. If you *_can_* find an affordable care or sliding scale program, a lot of times they still don’t have the resources and only have limited treatment options for minor psychiatric conditions. Like our county-level mental health only covers depression, anxiety, and bipolar. And If the medication services don’t work for you the first try or if you don’t get along with your providers you aren’t allowed to switch, they’ll just remove you from the system.
BetterHelp sucks for sure and isn’t much cheaper but it’s better than constantly calling the crisis line, and at least they let you switch if you don’t get along with your LMHP 😅
I definitely recommend checking psychology today though, a lot of therapists/psychologists/psychiatrist have telehealth options that aren’t even remotely part of the betterhelp system. Just make sure they’re properly licensed and educated for mental health and not like, a cuddle therapist, because that’s a thing 🤣

Paul Gilmartin of the Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast has an episode in which he clearly outlines why he is dropping better health as a sponsor, including information from the FTC lawsuits showing that, among other issues , the company actively sells the
protected medical information that it forces clients to fill out when signing up for the service. This really opened my eyes and I appreciated GilMartin's integrity in turning down Better Help, which is the largest sponsor in the podcast space and is worming its way back into the TH-cam creator space (after being called out by several popular creators in 2018) with millions & millions of dollars worth of advertising.

You’re half right. Better help used to be filled with unlicensed therapists, but the company has made efforts to turn that image around by providing counseling which is different than therapy it doesn’t require as much certification, and therapy from licensed and vetted professionals. You’re right that they got in trouble for selling information and they sold it to Facebook, Snapchat, and Pinterest so if you’re very worried about your information, I’d recommend deleting any accounts you have with those platforms because they are actively trying to buy your information. I don’t really care about that because what I care more about is helping people with mental health issues. You screaming about data isn’t really helping them, you care more about making sure the company doesn’t succeed then about the people they’re supposedly taking advantage of.

I was a medic for 10 years and have seen my share of dead bodies and I can remember 2 of the worst sights I’ve ever seen with dead bodies and 1 was in a car accident after it exploded into a fireball and all that was left was the outer shell of the car, the springs of the seat, his shriveled head in the backseat, a lot of bones, and the trunk of his body. It was bad and I had to get his body out in the dark while police were asking if I wanted bbq sauce with it🤢. The other was a man with dementia who went missing in the middle of summer for 2 weeks and that summer it was in the upper 90’s and 100’s in NC. He went out into the woods and shot himself in the head. Gruesome is an understatement with half of his head gone from the shotgun blast, he was swollen, covered in maggots, whatever of his head was left was black and rotten. I called my boss and said we needed air tanks and biohazard suits because it was that bad. Everyone said I turned green and I believe it. And the smells are as bad as everyone says and you can’t forget it.

It's more complicated than how MrBallen made it sound - though he's still a good storyteller. The usual telling is that the daughter was too little to make the controls do anything, but the son pulled them enough to adjust the autopilot slightly and nobody noticed the plane was off course until it crashed into the ground because they couldn't see outside. I don't fault MrBallen for making it a better story though.
