A hormonal coyote and the sweetest wolfdog

- This video is of Phoenix, the coyote, and Tanook, a low content wolfdog. During the winter, coyotes often become quite hormonal, whereas Tanook just wants love all year round.
Tanook is a senior Native American Indian Dog, and is a low content wolfdog. Phoenix is also a senior and is a coyote who was confiscated in an animal cruelty case. They are our odd couple. Tanook weighs over 100 lbs whereas Phoenix is only about 30 lbs. Hormonal coyotes are quite the experience. They simultaneously want love and to be left alone, all the scritches and then exactly zero scritches. All of Phoenix's bites are corrective and done with almost no force; she has never left me with so much as a bruise (and I bruise like a peach). However, it's important to recognize how very strange her behavior is and to remember that coyotes are absolutely not pets.

Provided all the animals in that enclosure are happy with each other and socialised enough, then don't know about the coyote, but the wolf definitely sees the coyote as part of the pack and won't harm it unless tolerance threshold is reached. They are just playing in the video small fights and poking & irritating each other is how most animals of the world play with each other

In July 2001 a stray looking like a wolf wondered into our yard. Having a pet duck outside too I quickly went outside to protect the duck and the stray and I met at the corner of the house. We locked eyes and she was looking very "wolfie". I said hello to her in a gentle quiet voice. Her ears laid back and she came over to greet me. We took her to the vet as she had mite bites all over the tips of her ears. We were then informed that she was a wolf hybrid. Vet was guessing 75% wolf 25% malamute. We took her into our family (or rather she took us into her pack) and she was the most loving, best tempermant companion anyone could ask for. We lost her in November 2013 from complications of bone cancer. Even after loosing a hind leg to the disease she was always happy and loving. We miss her so much but many of the videos you post have ones that look just like her. Brings tears to my eyes. God bless you and keep up the good work.

@@rileymurphy308 most dogs don't appreciate straightforward hugs (they won't be angry at you but they won't appreciate it either, will be just quiet and drink up that irritation). A dog itself coming into your lap or something is a different story
As you can see, these very very vicious wolves are giving a very threatening message, and that's what we believe is "scratch my butt or I kiss you to death"... terrifying, we know

I wonder why there are so many crossbreed ...hybrids in your country ... the wolfdogs?
It's because a lot of people think they want wolf dogs as pets so they are intentionally bred. Most end up in sanctuaries because people can't take care of them.
I could have guessed that was the reason.
In my country, people do not solve their own complexes in this way. At least not for now. I'm very sorry ... these hybrids that are the result of human mad ideas really do not deserve the pain they face. Why do we always interfere with nature? Our actions only lead to damage and destruction.
Yeah, it is really sad. Especially since there are so many cats and dogs in shelters and on the streets that could use homes.
A few reasons. Full wolves are covered by federal endangered species regulations, while in general mixtures of any amount of domestic and wild animal are considered domestic animals. Any dog ancestry (or specified amounts) and they are illegal some states, regulated in others, basically dog laws in others. Exactly the same situation as dingoes in Australia, which are strictly illegal in some regions, and in others come under exactly the same laws as other dogs.
BTW my female dog likes to be scratched on the butt and makes growly playful mouth-open fake lunges at me in the game too. Spayed, so I doubt it is hormonal.
Fuck nature. It's here to be exploited by us. I have respect for the rights of animals on an individual basis, but humans must be allowed to breed wolfdogs if that's what's fun for them. Neglect is not as bad as abuse.

OMG I love your channel so much. For fourteen years I had a wolf, Arctic wolf father (born in the wild) and Timber wolf mother. Raised her from a pup. Her name was Samantha. Those years were the absolute highlight of my existence. She was HUGE!, and the calmest sweetest most loving creature I have ever known. I cannot put into words how much I miss my baby girl. Watching your videos I get to see her eyes and face and movements again. Thank you so much.

It does not seem to be an aggressive biting. For me it is more playful an offer for playing. Reminds me of some dog sneeking at me from behind and nibble at my ankles and when i turn around runs away some steps.

Interesting how sweet tempered the wolf dog is. I have petted a wolf dog before and he was just as sweet as yours. I petted and played with him at least a couple hours and he was a big baby. And then the coyote is aggressive and rather skittish seeming. Also like she is bouncing off the walls with energy. Well anyay thanks for posting this thumbs up

I think the coyote wants pats, but it's nervous because it's behind his back where they can't see it, so it keeps on looking behind to check the humans not doing anything.
