As a 12 year old kid in Portland in 92, I ran into Clyde and his family coming out of a restaurant. I asked for his autograph and he said yes but I didn’t have a pen. While his family went to the car, he waited for 5 minutes while I desperately tried to find a pen. As a kid I didn’t think much of it, but as an adult I look back and think so highly of him. He waited with a smile. He didn’t have to do that, he just really cares about people
Clyde has always been great people. I also ran into Mychal Thompson downtown under the Portlandia statute back in the mid 80s, just a very kind, happy man. This was before they broke up the team for Kiki. Good times.
Don't know how much 92 would beat 24 by but Jordan would still be unstoppable, Pippen would still be a lockdown defender and Barkley would certainly make someone on 24 cry, most likely Embiid.
92 FAKEN SNOOZE TEAM .. SUPER DREAM TEAM 2024 TOO MUCH TALENT FOR mj and Barkley.. MJ ain’t locking no one in this era especially Steph , Lebron and Kd
For all of the casuals talking about scoring, the 92 dream team had seven of the top 50 scorers of all time in the NBA on their squad. Don’t think that would’ve been an issue.
I'll go one more; Daly was the perfect coach for that DTI squad because he wasn't worried about coaching X's and O's. He managed egos and let the players do what they already knew to do. What was he going to teach Stockton and Magic about playing the point? Barkley and Malone about the power forward position. Robinson and Ewing, Pippen, Drexler and Mullins? Michael? I've been on (far lesser) teams where literally everyone knew how to play and it is so easy then. DTI, then DTII and then...?
Good point it is also we he was onboard with no Isiah. Everyone wants to try and blame Jordan but talent wise they had enough and didn't need to get into was stockon as good as him. He knew chemistry was important and with multiple players on the team having an issue with Isiah he didn't need that on the team.
It might be close, but I'd take the 92 dream team in a one game winner takes all....but hell most of those guys are in their late 60s \ early 70s, a best of five series is out of the question. Lol

The reason the world caught up is because of dream team 92 ,they made a statement and build basketball overseas. The last 5 yrs MVP in NBA has overseas players .and there teams have chemistry

I don't knock nobody but the truth is the truth todays players are lazy and just want the money lets be honest they just care about their brand and have not fundamentals and don't really want to play hence all the load management and complaining about playing 82 games and back to backs and then they complain about having to play 60 something games its just ridiculous. And ppl call them the best make it make sense that's like and older person at the job works overtime, always put in extra time to perfect what they do, he don't care about all the other stuff just want to go to work and do his job the best of his ability and do it the right way then a young cat come along and always taking breaks, complaining about being at work and not showing up,don't care about the job don't care about doing the job the right way so he is always cutting corners and making it look all fancy and flashy, don't really work hard but want the money and praise about how flashy and fancy they do the job and want to hear ppl always praise and say he is better than the older ppl that been doing the job. But in reality there is no substance to his work. That is the way the game is right now and its sad to watch which is why a lot of ppl don't watch anymore or respect these players or the game.
When these debates come up, too many people just look at the names without considering when the team played. Comparing the 2024 team vs the Dream Team, Lebron (39), Steph (36) and KD (about to be 36) were the three most important guys on this year's team; all of them are past their primes - still really good, but not what they were. The Dream Team had 11 1st Ballet HOF's, with 9 of them being in their primes. This was Jordan at his apex. Clyde coming off his best season. Barkley won MVP the next year. Ewing led his team to 60 wins the next year. Robinson, Malone, Pippen, Mullin all in their primes. Stop the madness. The Dream Team is the greatest assemblance of talent we've ever seen on one team.

DTI was the greatest team in team sport history, not just basketball. That team had the most balance, the best rounded players, the best experienced team the world has or will see. And if all else failed (which it didn't) you had the GOAT. Sorry, that's the objective truth.
Yeah, the 24 team would wipe the floor with the 92 team. I just watched the 92 game vs Croatia, their toughest competition and was shocked to see how bad Coatia was. They would go long minutes without scoring. It was embarrassing to watch them go to the line and miss free throw after free throw. I heard a lot about how Jordan took it personal and shut down Kukoc, but he didn't guard Kukoc AT ALL. He guarded Drazen Petrovic, who literally walked by him every play but missed Bunny after Bunny at the rim. I suggest instead of listening to these old doggies, to go watch the games yourself. That was awful basketball.
Amen brother MJ was vastly overrated. He had flaws but the destroyed those videos . Stern had a dictator type of attitude, wanted MJ to succeed as he didn’t like the Detroit bad boys .
92 and 24 both have great players. I don't think there would be a mopping of either side. It also depends on what rules you are playing, the game has changed but so has the rules. Either team would have to adapt if they were playing the other teams rules. 24 would not be allowed 3 steps to the basket and 92 wouldn't be able to hand check on defense.
Put pippen on steph, mj on booker, magic on bron and tell magic do his best, malone on AD, and Robinson on Embiid. Let AD and embiid shoot all they want and beat em up on offense...
The only '24 team had a shot at '92 team , it was because Magic and Bird were already past their prime. Bird had back injury. If they are both at their prime, it is not a contest. I would give 4-1 best of seven series to'92 team
Yeah that 96 DREAM TEAM needs more shine just as dominant as the first with the rest of the best of the 90's stars better than the redeem team SHAQ, BARKLEY HAKEEM ROBINSON MILLER AND RICHMOND and they were dead eye from 3 back then payton kidd kevin johnson Malone I can't remember HILL I'm going to watch all there games blowing teams out by 40 and 50
'24 would blow out '92 if anything. somehow every sport evolves except basketball? You are all living in the rosy retrospective past....today's players are so much better in literally every facet of basketball, especially dribbling and shooting
Let’s say every player in the game is prime..in their prime. AD is not athletic enough to deal with David Robinson. Prime David Robinson COOKS AD. Ad is too slow. Robinson was far more athletic. FAR more. Go look at his build and highlights. AD has NOTHING like that. Put Drexler or Pippen on Steph and he is not only shut down..he gets COOKED trying to guard them. Steph played against third-world players that are not nearly as good as NBA players. He would be the actual weakest link. He could not get off on guys that good, big, and athletic. Jordan on Bron…or Malone on Bron. What is Derrick White going to do with Barkley? Or Holiday going to do with prime Magic? And Prime BIRD?! Come on. At the PEAK of their powers..all 12 of the 24 team..and all 12 of the 92 team..the 92 team DESTROYS them.
You know what's difficult to catch up with? Dominant post play in scoring, rebounding and defense. That comes with having great offensive/defensive bigs. And those 1990's Olympic teams had the best ever.
How is this even a discussion comparing the 92 Dream-Team to the 24 US-Team?? The 92 Team almost as a whole was assembled with LIVING LEGENDS. Almost each of these players was unique in the history of basketball. Each one had REDEFINED the game of basketball in their position!! Magic & Stockton the point guard position, Jordan & Drexler the SG, Bird, Pippen the SF, Barkley, Malone the PF, Ewing, Robinson the Center. Those were GIANTS. But most important: everyone of them had BALLS, they could take over the game when the game was on the line. They had CHARACTER. In the 24 team only Lebron, Curry and KD fulfill that level. And thanks to these three they got the gold. And it got very close... Beyond those three players in the 24 team, the others will never belong to this elit club of giants. Just very good players for their teams and role players for the US team... Three compared to eight giants of the 92 team. It is not even close!!
I'm just commenting and adding my 2 cents worth to the topic. If all players are healthy--I'd give the edge to Dream Team of 92. I'll say in a 7 game series--it would be 4-0--perhaps 4-1 if the 92 team decided to go to sleep.
There are no answers for LeBron, KD, or Curry period. EVERYONE is either too small , weak , or slow to guard Lebron. No one is guarding KD. Curry off ball is historic.. 92 had MJ but thats not enough. Is Robinson guarding 300+ Embiid? Furthermore these “great “ defenders had it easy, they always went under the screens and played 2 feet below the 3 pr line. Different game today
The thing that impressed me the most about the dream team wasn't the talent level, that was obvious, but the basketball knowledge. That team had Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Stockton. Also Chris Mullins. That's a collection of the brightest minds the game has ever seen. Maybe you'll have more talent but you'll never have more brains.
Place those same players in this error they would evolve their game. Place the new generation in in the 90s error and they'd adapt. Great players all have 2 things in common and that's hard work and dedication.
@@mirospajic9929 Not enough 3 point shooting for the 96 team. They wouldn't have been able to comeback against a Serbia team shooting 50% from 3 as a team for the first 3 quarters like the 24 team did.

not really. he didn’t play bad but you’re definitely overhyping his performance. he was really inefficient from both the three and the line and shot worse from the two. 2024 usa bakes the dream team. 2012 and the redeem team might lose because they lack the depth 2024 had but the dream team still holds up to this day. but pls don’t go around spreading that narrative because we have the stats and footage to prove you’re lying 😂.
Everyone holds the old guard in high esteem (and with good reason) but a seven-game series between the two teams goes seven. 92 trying to stop a team led LeBron, Steph and KD is harder than you think.
Not to mention 96 team which is literally capable of every style of play. Big, small, shooting, bigs whatever kind of lineup you bring out 96 can match with something devastating.
If the RULES were the same as when CLYDE "the Glide" Drexler played, it wouldn't be close the older teams would easily win!! Im PROUD of the USA OLYMPIC team for bringing home GOLD, but lets be honest they barely beat Serbia with 3.3 million slow white players! Serbia only has 6.6 million people!!
People really need to put aside media hype and marketing from what the truth is. Basketball has evolved, there is no way the 92 team with that style of play is beating todays US team and they would struggle against other national teams as well, there is enough logical evidence to show that the 92 team is no match for todays style of basketball. This is not feelings or hype this is straight logical facts.
It’s not logical facts. You’d have a point if the Dream Team couldn’t score or put up points but the lowest point total in 14 games was 103 points. They averaged 117 - higher than the NBA’s current scoring average. This is without any of those guys being raised on 3-pointers. And that’s not even talking defense. If apex Jordan & Pippen wanted to stop you, they stop you. You saw Embiid struggle for 60-70% of the tournament. Let’s see how he’d handle apex Ewing, Robinson, & Malone. He’d be aboard a first class flight back to Philadelphia by halftime. I could see it if the Dream Team had a messy game of any kind, but they didn’t. They beat a 3 HOF player team by 33 & 32 points.
@@rackball5858 You failed to consider the quality of opposition that those guys played against. As at that time there were not up to 20 foreign based players in the nba which told on the quality of basketball that the other national teams played, compared to today with about 100 or more foreign based players. The quality of the game has vastly improved compared to the 90's, both on offence and defence. Media hype is saying things like 'If Apex Jordan and Pippen wanted to stop you, they stop you.' No great defensive player is stopping a great offensive player especially not against todays talent that has offense more than ever. The 24 beats the 92 team on skills such as passing, shooting, ball handling and defense cause those guys were much slower than the 24 team. These are facts. You are underestimating how much the game has improved from a skills perspective. Embid is more skilled than any of the centers you mentioned. The only thing I would say those guys had which made them superior is intangibles like mindset, understanding the game, hard work and discipline. But the 24 team still wins and the 92 team will struggle against the rest playing today.
@@joshuaam6987 U are great exaggerating '24. They're good enough to be the world but even as u can see, that was a struggle but for u to even remotely think that Embiid could do anything with Admiral, Pat Ewing & etc is hilarious. 🤦🏾♂️Yeah and your facts make no sense whatsoever particularly when talking basketball, "Great players" will always play great no matter what year it is. Those players from 92' would have adapted to the style of play nowadays, shooting 3's and playing no defense "Really 😂" I'm pretty sure they were capable of doing that on the basketball court. 🤷🏾♂️I mean if shooting more 3's combined with no defense is the equivalent of the game evolving then 🤷🏾♂️IDK what type of basketball is being played nowadays. 🙄😔🤔
@@barnettjenkins543 The advantage 24 team has is that they are playing 32 years later and have gone through various variotions of basketballs evolution ever since then. Its not just the 3's that has changed the whole game has changed. At every position from 1 - 5 the skills set has imrpoved. Like I said no one is stopping a great offensive player and that applies to Embid as well. I can mention tones of bigs that plyed that old school style on the modern game and fared pretty poorly. An example is Dwight Howard who had a team built around him to all of a sudden not being that relevant cause he could not adapt. And before you comment please read properly on how I mentioned that if 'the 92' team played with that style'I did not mention anything about adapting. Adaptation is a while different discussion cause no one knows how those players would have adapted.
The game and style of play has changed since 1992, the speed of the game has changed since 1992, if the Dream Team with their 1992 skill sets were playing in the 2024 olympics, then I am not sure if they would win. That is why it is so hard to compare different eras of basketball, because it isn't an apples to apples comparison. The international basketball world is not the same as it was 32 years ago. International ball is much more competitive than it was in 1992, and other countries are sending a lot more players to the NBA than they were in 1992, so they are ready to compete at the highest level.
'96 was a great team, no doubt, but they didn't have Jordan and Barkley wasn't as good as he was in '92. On the other hand, the guards were deeper in '96 and the low post players were deeper as well (if not just plain better). Still, I think '92 wins that game because I don't trust Hardaway, Richmond, or Hill like I trust Magic, Mullin, and of course Jordan.
No one is approaching this correct. The question isn’t about talent. It’s about the increased emphasis on the 3 ball. 92 had about 7 players that couldn’t shoot the three. And especially with Fib-a rules hindering drives and emphasizing shooting. The 2024 team by rough analysis would win by about 10 points. Now if the players from 92 could practice the 3 ball a lot. Then it would be anyones game.
No def was much different back in the day. Today's players won't be able to take as many uncontested 3shots. So they would still lose. 3 is not the end all be all.
Bird, Mullin, MJ, Pippen, Stockton all could shoot 3s. On the flip side, none of these 2024 players are lockdown defenders like MJ, Pip, Ewing, Stockton, Robinson.
People don’t understand, two things can be true. Has international competition gotten much better? Yes. On average. The 1992 dream team beat squads by a average margin of 45 points that’s absurd. It definitely won’t be replicated. But that all inspiring dominance, while only facing nine other NBA players internationally, is what inspired the rest of the world to get better at basketball and close the gap. That’s the natural evolution of things cause and effect. and it made international teams play a better brand of team basketball to compensate for the fact that they’ve never had the same level of talent or depth of talent. Each country on various occasions might have one NBA superstar, nowadays, or in some cases a couple All-Stars may be a starter or bench player here, there, but them beating us in 2002, 2004 and 2006+2023 made us take international competition more seriously. Will we ever beat teams by 45 game on average? No, but those international players were going against a mystique and aura players that you don’t have today. they didn’t see Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan consistently on a nightly basis either on TV or highlights so there was a huge intimidation factor. It doesn’t help that people are all over social media, which makes them seem less Godlike because you know their day-to-day human life there’s no mystique. With that said modern fans who think that the 2024 would beat the 1992 team are smoking crack yes they faced better competition, that doesn’t mean they’re better than the 1992 team who beat a Croatia team with a number of NBA players multiple times in the tournament, including the gold medal game. Think about it they struggled with Serbia with Nikola Jokić and one other NBA role-player. What are they gonna do the superior size and interior play of the 92 team with Robinson, Ewing, Barkley and Malone? And they had deep shooting with Mullin and Bird. And they had great perimeter defense with Stockton even though he was injured in 1992 with hyper athletes, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the Dobermans hounding people on the perimeter. And then you got Magic facilitating the offense. They’re considered the best USA team for a reason, even though the 1996 team and maybe the 2008 have arguments. think about it they beat teams so badly. Michael Jordan didn’t even need to be Michael Jordan in any single game the entire time. He basically drank, smoke cigars, played cards and played golf all day and then just rolled onto the court and didn’t need to focus or dominate. the one time he played in the Olympics suffocating defense on Toni Kukoc. They say the hardest Michael played was in practice against the other NBA legends and All-Stars where he asserted himself as the alpha dog of all the alphas … the Apex predator. This could’ve lost two games if it wasn’t for Stephen Curry going totally fucking nuclear. LeBron was the most consistent player, but at the end of the day he’s pushing 40 years old, Kevin Durant is in his mid to late 30s as is Stephen Curry. The 2024 avengers were fun to watch and I’m glad they took on the gold and we’re dominant in all of the games except the last two in the medal rounds. But they’re the fifth best USA basketball team with professionals I’ve ever seen. And I definitely think they would lose to the 1992 team, the 1996 team, the 2008 team and the 2012 team.
Dream Team would dominate the 2024 team in the post, because they had David Robinson, Ewing, and Karl Malone. And teams back then dominated the paint with low post scoring, rebounding and shot blocking. The reason teams cannot deal with Nikola Jokic is because he plays like an old school big, but he can also pass and hit perimeter shots. Well the 92 Dream Team did not have a Jokic. But they did have multiple guys who could do _some_ of the things Jokic does. If those teams played one another 10 times, I think the Dream Team wins all 10 times.
@@cit9915 LOL! I've watched AD's entire NBA career. He was never a consistent three point shooter. Definitely not enough to consistently pull defenders out to the 3pt line and away from the basket. The only consistent mismatch the '24 team has is KD, who can make shots from anywhere on the floor. But again, the '24 team struggled with Serbia, a team that doesn't have an iota of the talent Dream Team had. We have seen KD get flustered and frustrated when he goes up against physical defenders. Pippen would challenge him. Curry would also be a problem for Dream Team from the perimeter. But he needs the ball to get into a rythm. And I don't think Dream Team's perimeter defenders would allow Steph to get into a rythm. They would frustrate him.
It would be competitive. The current team played much better competition. I read the dream team played against a total of 9 NBA players in thier run. The current team over 40. The question is underr what era? The dream team had the 3 point shot but it wasn't in vogue.

@@howardpool1162Curry will shoot the lights out off these oldies. Have you seen how the 90s defend. This is like when 2015 to 2018 when warriors caught the league by surprise. These 92 oldies won't know what just struck them.
1992's advantage is that it's way better in the low post. But the best team in the low post had to be 1996 with Shaq, David Robinson, Hakeem, Barkley, and Malone. 2024's advantage would be its three point shooting. In a single-elimination tournament, it's flat out scary running into a team with a hot Steph and KD. But if you run into them when they're not on fire, they're very beatable, and it nearly happened in the semifinal and final despite Curry hitting 17 combined threes.
The reason y’all think Steph and kd are scary when they shooting 3s is bcuz they dnt have handchecking anymore or players playing defense on them, put a player like Stockton to dog curry and all them 3s goes out the window, pip got kd again defensive pressure, now who on the 2024 team can stop drexler,Malone,Robinson, magic,or mj?embiid will be Barkley bitch, lebron will be part of mj bodybag rituals,kd….he ain’t even gonna play defense, and curry not stopping nobody smh 92 dream team wins by 30+
It depends what rules they playing. If they playing with 90s rules 92 dream team is beating 2024 by 25+ pts. If you know basketball I should not explain this to anyone. If they are playing with 2024 rules 92 dream team beats them by 10+. They are just better players, younger than 2024, more 2 way players, have more fundamentals, ect...
@@fitzroy6970 You think handchecking alone is going to make Steph not a scary three point shooter? Reggie Miller was shooting 42% in 1993-1994, and Steph is not worse than Reggie (I'd argue he's better, but for the sake of argument let's just say they're equally good). I mean, did you not watch the final against France? I'm not saying the 2024 team would win in a 7 game series, but they could definitely win in a single-elimination format where all you need is one great game.
92 MJ was far better than any player on the 24 team. Steph killed it tho, hes a beast

I think the 2008 redeem team would fare better against the 92 dream team than any other U.S Olympic men’s basketball team
92 could play any way! Stop it!
Bird, Mullin, MJ, Pippen, Stockton all could shoot 3s. On the flip side, none of these 2024 players are lockdown defenders like MJ, Pip, Ewing, Stockton, Robinson.
You do realize the FIBA three-point line is shorter than the NBA three-point line.
I love me some Steph Curry, but that '92 team would BLOW OUT the '24 team. Not even close

Love the Dream Team but it was never tested. Would be fun to watch them have to deal with the ‘24 team.
Dream Team would dominate the 2024 team in the post, because they had David Robinson, Ewing, and Karl Malone. And teams back then dominated
the paint with low post scoring, rebounding and shot blocking. The reason teams cannot deal with Nikola Jokic is because he plays like an old school
big, but he can also pass and hit perimeter shots. Well the 92 Dream Team did not have a Jokic. But they did have multiple guys who could do _some_ of
the things Jokic does. If those teams played one another 10 times, I think the Dream Team wins all 10 times.
@@cyber6sapien inside for sure then their heads would explode when AD starts shooting threes. The game has changed so much.

These hypotheticals are silly because both teams would have played differently if in the same eras. Just appreciate the greatness- why do basketball pundits always have x vs. y conversations?
Drexler guard Steph Curry?!!!?!🤦🏾♂️🧢🤣😂🤣if you go watch the dream team you can compare it to the Bill Russell era👊🏾
Drexler would make curry look like a average player
@@howardpool1162Curry will shoot the lights out off these oldies. Have you seen how the 90s defend. They leave too much space when players are outside the arc that's why the paint looks congested and looks like good defense when actually their competition was just bad.
Also, if the 92 team "only" beat Croatia by 32, there's no way the 2024 USA team is also going to lose by 30.
@@mrmacrossfunny you mention Reggie and Croatia.
Croatia had Dražen Petrović
@@mrmacross
The fact that u think Steph is someone that can't be stopped is hilarious 😂
Jordan/Pippen would shut down Steph easily
That just means KD or Lebron eats.
@@Hopper830 Who will defend Jordan? I will stop there. But if I go on, who would defend Barkley, Malone, Ewing? The answer is no one. None of these current guys can battle inside. They would be on the bench because of foul trouble.
There is no need for the 1992 Dream Team, I can bet on the 2000 vs 2024 USA and I'm sure KG and Carter would dominate them in a one game trophy or best of 7.
Curry’s not hitting threes like that with Jordan guarding him. Sorry….
2024 barely made it to the Gold medal game! And some argue that they shouldnt have made it.
92 Dream Team are the best
The 92 Dream Team would have easily beaten Serbia and France. Jordan, Bird, Magic, Pippen, Barkley, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Stockton, Malone, Clyde the glide, c’mon man.
Isaiah Thomas should have made the Dream Team. But we know why he wasn't there
They were the greatest team ever assembled……..FOR THAT TIME
and this time and all time.
To be the best you have to beat the best.
"The world is catching up."
Clip over. No more to be said.
Clyde thinking he knows how he would "shut down" Curry when he's never faced anything like that in his career is just hilarious, hilarious.
He faced Chris Jackson of Denver in the 90's he was the Steph Curry of the 90's go goggle his stats in his first 4 years to Curry's first 4 years they are the same. Steph wasn't Chef Curry until year 6.
@@Tyubnjnot even close bro
Stop comparing and just appreciate greatness
Well, who started the comparison??
Thank you!
i did a dub take and thought odom was talking to clyde
Your team are all superstar
If Draymond Green and Aries Spears had a child...
My favorite player #22
24 team barely beat Serbia 😂
I'm confused, didn't the USA have professional players in the 1960 olympics???
Preach & Teach
They always leave Clyde out of the 92 team against the 24 team
The '24 team almost got taken out by Jokic and some B squad Serbian players
It's like saying an iphone 6 is better than iphone 10
iphone team 92 is better than iphone team 2024.
The 96 team trumps all.
