Magic’s embrace by the other players on the dream team, yes I know all about the earlier controversies over his HIV status, tore down walls that fear and misunderstanding about the disease had created. BILLIONS globally re-examined their preconceptions and that was an even bigger accomplishment than making basketball a global game. You can argue that is why Magic and millions of others have survived AIDS and the research also led to better treatment of other diseases caused by viruses.
Plus thankfully modern medicine has caught up. Now today there are HIV medications where you only need a pill or two a day to live a normal life and in some cases can get HIV down to undetectable levels. HIV is not a death sentence like it would be back in the 80's.
There will be never be another dream team. And there hasn’t been one to even come close. Thank you 92 Dream Team! The whole world loved you as much as we did. 👍👍🙏🙏
You know, 3 HOFs played for Croatian side in that final game (Drazen Petrovic, Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja) , so the Dream Team didn't have some bad oponents on the other side as you may think watching this film. They were just that good nobody could touch them. So, when you hear speaker saying: "The best team ever to walk this earth" ... thats not exaggeration.
Daley was a genus….I was on all star baseball team that played terrible as a team. Our coach then cracked the whip and made us “hate” him. At that point, we started clicking….before our final game the coach told us we were now a team…and he no longer was going to be an a$$. He canceled practice….took us for pizza and told us stories about the teams he played on. At the final … before the game, he said gentlemen you are one of the finest teams I’ve ever coached. You are finally a team… A unified group of good players that functions as a team which is the most important thing in team sports. So today this is your final game I want you to go out there and put your best try to win the championship and you will be doing so without me yelling at you from the sidelines today I’m going to let you play it the way you want to play as a team. As long as you don’t hear my voice you’re doing great. If you stumble I will be there to help you because we are a team. He never said a word the whole game and we won 5-2. It take it really good courage to get people to buy into the team concept and to sacrifice ego and personal achievement over the team hast to be number one no matter what at the celebration dinner after the championship somebody ask the coach how he knew that forcing us to be a team was so important… And he laughed and said because I was that kid who never thought that he was in Port and I always wanted to play as an individual
what a world, what a life, to live to see the best basketball played by the best in the world, and may not ever see any guys like this again play the game....just saying...
I love Magic , his personality is amazing . Always laughing , smiling , and lighting up a room , or a court . He and Larry are like oil and water , Bird always serious , driven to the point of manic . Id love to be a fly on the wall when they are sitting in a room together with a couple beers /cocktails telling old war stories .
I was 9 the Summer of '92. In my little town of Fairview, Oklahoma, EVERYONE got together at SOMEONE'S house every night there was a Dream Team game on. I can remember the nights where the neighborhood ended up at my house, 25 people +/- in our little 1300sq ft home, in the living room, watching on our heavy ass 32" Zenith, kids on the floor, adults on the couches or just standing, having pizza and Pepsi, watching the good old US of A just kicking the ever loving shit out of whoever we were playing that night. Everytime we scored or made a steal or a block, the whole house would rattle from the thunderous of my friends amd neighbors. Looking back it was a magical time.
I've never watched a more remarkable documentary than this. Everything about it is truly dreamlike. The closest to this video are those made by Joseph Vincent (TH-camr). NBA TV 📺
Watching them play together can only be described as poetry in motion. They are the gold standard, and every Olympic basketball team is measured against.
The sad part is that due to fall out of Yugoslavia their greatest rival was being divided and only part of it won the silver medal as Croatia. Even to this date ex Yugoslavia is the greatest pool of talent outside of the US. Still amazing accomplishment making this dream team work.
@Jacob Bolton I was interested so i read up on it. The dream team was made because Yugoslavia was beating them at junior and olympic tournaments. The biggest loss is the legendary coach Duda Ivkovic (huge inspiration for Pop) who went on to coach serbia. Player wise Jure Zdovic (starting point guard) and Vlade Divac (starting center) jump out right now i'll update if i find anything. So better coaching and a better starting 5, more depth on the bench. It would have been a lot more competitive, but USA probably still gets the win. Edit: Zarko Paspalj was another serbian, scored 15 on USA in 1990
I was just 12 years old when this team took the stage... at the time, I was a huge NBA fan, and it felt like it was just yesterday. Unfortunately, the NBA is not what it used to be. True brotherhood doesn't always come from blood these men are still living legends and will be long after they are gone from us
31:29 when i see Scotties Face in a moment of Proud, i got tears in my eyes. He is such a nice guy full of respect! 33 forever!
Christian was on the ride of his life. He was in a team of hall of famers, champions, whose motivation aside from winning the Olympics was to show who was top dog in the team.
The most positive outcome of the Dream Team was giving worldwide basketball players the chance to go down in history as the only foreign players who get to meet and play with the world's greatest athletes. A dream come true for these athletes.🏀🏀🔥🔥
More talent on this team, than in the entire NBA now.
Because of the Dream Team, i got the chance to become a Mavs fan due to Nowitzki and Doncic. They were the reason why basketball became global and stars emerged from different.countries.
Imagine what MJ's trophy case must look like. Two Gold Medals on the second shelf...insane.
I´m from argentina and watching this made me cry. Also, loved when they showed Manu our biggest basquetball hero
This is one of the best videos I’ve ever seen! Made me tear up! These players were bigger than life.
They was the best there was ,God Bless them all, love the old days when it was real basketball,
the best times of my life watching starting as a 10 year old, all these super stars!!playing basketball from thee earlly 80s,to 2000,s were the greatest ever!! for me,. never be duplicated!! and 25 or so years watching my lakers!!
OMG..
I remember that Olympics and that Dream Team! I remember all of them.. each player!
Jeez.. I cried when I watched this video.
Thanks! )
Greatest Basketball documentary of all time. Credit to the creators.
Anyone who watched NBA in the 90s knew of Jordan's greatness.
Anyone who watched it in the 80's knew of Bird and the Celtics sweeping MJ. MJ Magic and Bird are all three tied as the goats 🐐 imo
excellent documentary. i wasn’t born yet when this happened, but man.
This was absolutely glorious. Nothing will ever compare to this moment in time.
It truly was a special time. Nothing like it, ever again.
Lol ruthless, "We wanted to go guard him in the bench".
There is absolutely no truth to your statement.
More then just the players. The world will never forget that time
Came back to watch my dream team era...good times
There will be never be another dream team. And there hasn’t been one to even come close. Thank you 92 Dream Team! The whole world loved you as much as we did. 👍👍🙏🙏
You know, 3 HOFs played for Croatian side in that final game (Drazen Petrovic, Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja) , so the Dream Team didn't have some bad oponents on the other side as you may think watching this film. They were just that good nobody could touch them. So, when you hear speaker saying: "The best team ever to walk this earth" ... thats not exaggeration.
Radja is in the HOF???

@@jlmusic1469 he is, since 2018. Larry Bird introduced him.
I saw these guys on TV that time !
They played basketball from another planet.
WoW
What an amazing bit of history, and so very well put together. Thank you.
Will we ever see basketball at its finest ever again?
In the history of sport, no matter which it is, there will never be another squad assembled to rival this one!
I am so glad that I got to live through this…
What a great decade the 90’s was.
Jordan,Bird,and Majic. Man💪
There will NEVER be another DREAM TEAM. The best ever
The sad part is that due to fall out of Yugoslavia their greatest rival was being divided and only part of it won the silver medal as Croatia. Even to this date ex Yugoslavia is the greatest pool of talent outside of the US. Still amazing accomplishment making this dream team work.
facts
How do you think things would of panned out if Yugoslavia wasn't being broken up? Considering that Croatia gave the USA their most competitive game?
@Jacob Bolton I was interested so i read up on it. The dream team was made because Yugoslavia was beating them at junior and olympic tournaments. The biggest loss is the legendary coach Duda Ivkovic (huge inspiration for Pop) who went on to coach serbia.
Player wise Jure Zdovic (starting point guard) and Vlade Divac (starting center) jump out right now i'll update if i find anything.
So better coaching and a better starting 5, more depth on the bench. It would have been a lot more competitive, but USA probably still gets the win.
Edit: Zarko Paspalj was another serbian, scored 15 on USA in 1990
Absolutely pure magic. Absolutely. They were so magnificent the world could only watch and cheer. It was the Harlem Globetrotters x 100. On display!
Larry and magic deserved to lead that team no doubt
Who on that team had as much seniority as them they were top of the heap
I was just 12 years old when this team took the stage... at the time, I was a huge NBA fan, and it felt like it was just yesterday. Unfortunately, the NBA is not what it used to be. There will never be another team like The Dream Team, and there will never be players who influence the game in such a powerful way.
I luv the last part where Charles Barkley’s speech about having fun “together “ no matter who they are.. the best group of dream team.. now you got whiners
ALL OF THESE GUYS WERE MAJOR LEAGUE WHINERS EXCEPT MULLIN & ROBINSON!!!
Incredible piece of film. Extremely well done. Loved that moment in my life I was 13
the best team of basketball athletes ever assembled. now all hall of famers. there's no other team as great as the dream team. my favorite on the team was Michael Jordan
This was like the golden Age of B-ball.. & ul never see anything like this again.!
In the history of basketball this team was the only one in won all their games by 30 points or more, absolutely the best team on any sport of all time 👏👏👏
the squad that played in 1960 olympics did the same, the 84 olympics the same... and there's been other dominant teams in other sports... you can't make a comparison
@@JulioLeonFandinho this team won all their games by more than 30 points to everyone, Tournament of America first and Olympic games, there not comparacion
@@rusbenreyes5695 that’s because the rest of the world weren’t as great as they are now.
No prime Luka, Anterkumpo, Joker, Dirk, Joker, 04 Spain, 02 Serbian or Lithuanian quality players in 1992.
Also, the 1992 Dream Team was the only genuine time that the NBA sent its combined best players (with the exception of Isiah and Shaq instead of Stockton and Laetner).
YOU CANT BE THE BEST WITHOUT PLAYING THE BEST!!@
Simply amazing. That level of talent is almost unimaginable.
the legendary team of all time
