Arcade Games Of the 90's - Part 1: 1990

  • A list of arcade games that were released in 1990!
    The early 90s was probably the best time to be an arcade fan. The experimental eras of the 80s were gone, and developers now had a good grasp of what worked well and what didn't. Just about every game that was released was technically polished and playable...if mostly derivative and sticking to safe genres. Still, it was a good time!

    I love how the "80's" still reigned in the early 90's arcade games. The music of any game from 1990 to 1993 still had that 80's sound going for it. You can notice the transition in some games. X-Men, Night Slashers and one called Violent Storm had music that sounded 80's and 90's.

    What an amazing channel you have friend, will keep my eyes out for your future post and content as I absolutely adore the retro games although I play the modern ones nowadays.

    Some people always say that arcade of the 80s was the golden age but I think the 90s arcades were the golden age since graphics had improved so much and there were so many good arcade games.

    Great Steamkey Gary, thanks! It's top-down twin-stick dystopian police game JYDGE, made by the Neon Chrome devs 10guns. Slick action, and I like the world-painting...
    As for this video, wow wow wow. I'll be watching again and again, and look forward to the continuing series. I've swung back to preferring short-play, arcade-style games in the last few years -- too busy with kids/life to play a 60-hour RPG, or to put in the time to "get gud" at the best challenging modern action games with their exhausting campaigns. How great would it be to have a 90's arcade around the corner with these games in them?

    I can see why classic arcade enthusiasts prefer the games of the 70s and 80s compared to the 90s onward. The 'golden age of video games' as it was called were more about puzzles and figuring things out while here it's mostly about fighting and shooting. To me most games look very similar to each other so I can definitely see how the industry got oversaturated and went on the decline.

    • @GaryRetroGamer
      @GaryRetroGamer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So...this channel has a series - currently in progress - outlining the arcade games of the 80s. If you watch it - you will realize that the early 80s were *far worse* for games "looking very similar to each other".
      Also, historically, the industry over-saturation and decline happened in the 80s. Arcades had peaked and busted by the mid-80s.

    looking for an old certain game. I remember it just similar to ninja gaiden or castleveinia in term of gameplay. The game have a stage that is when you reach to a certain map you will see the whole background of the map is black. the entire map have lot of giant iron bar maybe the color of the iron bar is white. It's like a giant prison because behind the those iron bar is the princess stuck and imprison behind the bar. when you reach at the end of that prison map you will see princess behind the bar and a boss ready to fight you. I don't remember if defeat the boss will rescue the princess behind those giant iron bar. the princess size is just as big as the character player control.
    Anyone of think of?
