    Just an idea for your booth… all the items that you want to donate back to Goodwill, gift wrap them in boxes and label them as Mystery Boxes. The cost is always less than the value of the items, but if you are just going to donate them, at least you will make some money back. It will also bring people into your booths. I’ve been doing this for several months, and it’s increased my profits and has brought new people into my booth.

      The price per box is usually $15 or under. The customers love them and remember, I was just going to donate them to a Charity such as Goodwill so at least it makes a little money back. I was stocking my booth the other day, and a lady came in and said “I love your booth! I purchased a Mystery Box and it was great!” I hope you try this idea and that it works great for you too!

    My guess is that the thing with the pigs hanging off the edge is a planter. You put the pipe thing in the soil and water into it to get the water to the roots. I'd also guess that second goodwill has a lot of broken things because it doesn't have the plastic on the shelves.

    • @laraemitchell9064
      @laraemitchell9064 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I came looking through the comments to see if anyone else thought the same as I did about this terracotta bowl. I also thought it was a planter with the pugs as cute decorations and the pipe thingy to water the plant with.

    • @resailandshipped
      @resailandshipped 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was my thinking too! I also thought the water tube could double as a stabilizer for a vine type of plant.

    The bottle at 2:16 looks like it is a handblown bottle (not machine-made). Both machine-made AND handblown bottles usually have vertical seams along the sides. (Referring to typical utilitarian bottles here, not free-blown, fire-polished upscale bottles, or art glass bottles that were not blown in a mold - that's another category). The vertical seams only mean the bottle was formed in a mold - regardless of whether or not it was machine-made or handblown. The typical way of determining if a bottle is machine made is by examining the lip of the bottle - on a machine made bottle, the (usually two) vertical mold seams on the bottle go up to and reach the very top of the lip, often crossing over onto the top surface of the lip. Not so with handblown bottles - the mold seams "fade out" or rather abruptly end a short distance from the top of the bottle.
    Also, the ketchup bottle you picked up before this one is not contemporary - it looks to date from the 1910s or 1920s - easily a hundred or more years old. Common, yes, but contemporary - no.

    The chip & Dip with the candle holder looks like what my grandmother used for Shrimp, Cocktail sauce and toothpicks, The bottom bowl is big enough to put some ice in the bottom and the shrimp on top. And kind of a good reason for a bracket that has feet on it, so you can keep the ice from making a condensation puddle on the bottom.

    The clear bowl is lead crystal. To visually tell the difference is by weight and by color. Glass in comparison is clear to almost yellow. Leaded glass is gray and the more gray the color, the more lead was used. 24% qualifies glass to be lead crystal, but the better companies like Baccarat, used 32%.

    With the bowl set: modern use would be "chip and dip." In the 60s-70s it would have been for shrimp cocktail, buffet style. Shrimp in the big dish, cocktail sauce in the smaller dish, and toothpicks in the brass holder. At least that's how I remembered brunches set up at "the club," back in the stone age. 😅

    Right around 15... is the 3 pigs on what I believe is a planter. Those figures are popular 'sitters' or 'hangers' for potted plants. But the planter looks porous and may dry out quickly, so the long hollow thingie is for watering the plant throughly, including at the bottom, especially for SUCCULENTS! ...IMHO

    That second Goodwill was crazy! Not only do they not handle their donations with respect and care, but their prices are ridiculously high. I'm sorry for the negative comment, but this is exactly why I rarely source from Goodwill anymore. I've actually been shopping a lot at Savers and have been leaving with fantastic hauls every time. I rarely leave there spending less than $100, but its because they get great stuff donated. I always come home with bags of vintage treasures and rarely do I find freshly damaged merchandise.

    Just a thought but you donated back some pretty nice things. I wonder if you could have run a "Clearance" sale and just had a show of items with generic listings (no specific title, pics or descriptions just weights. You could run the listings "as seen on live" and start them at the price it would cost you to prepare them for shipping. They would prob get your money back and you could give your viewers some good deals. You have a good eye so all your buys have some value.

    Poor girl! Those glassy eyes. I have them myself. Can tell you’re not feeling 100%. Totally understand. Hope you’re resting some too.

    Don't feel bad about donating those things. If you had a bunch of employees that helped with your listings then you'd have the time for all the extra things to be sold. Sometimes it's okay to just let go of stuff. I struggle with the same thing😊
