@@seanmack4552😃👍🏻 We really love riding our bikes. 650cc is more than enough. The character of the bike is great. Plenty of torque and nice sound. Handling is easy and riding is very comfortable. Do I miss my HD? Mmmm, I must say that the FB was even more comfortable but just too heavy for my wife. Do I regret? Absolutely not!! ☺️
36yr old female here, finally ordered one in interstaller grey after thinking for a month, test rode one twice and fell in love with the smoothness, can't wait, think it'll be here next week🎉🎉
Thank you, for another very informative video. The engine and gearbox/gear changes come across as being very smooth on the video, no clunkiness at all. Looks like good base to make a nice custom bobber out of too. 👍
Always great to hear from you ! The gearbox was nice and the bike rode well particularly using the low / mid range torque of the differently tuned engine . I am sure that there will soon be a lot of aftermarket accessories available too ! Personally I think the 650 is a great base for a custom build ..
Commenting from the States. Seems like a lovely modern version of a classic motorcycle. Practical, affordable, reliable, quick enough to be fun and an absolute looker. The fact that it will appear at the same time Harley discontinues its only "affordably priced" smaller cruiser, the evo sportster, makes it even better. The North American imports should come with a more rowdy exhaust to encourage sales, though...
Short and sweet this Michael…….Royal Enfield are going the extra mile to bring good quality products to the masses at very affordable prices. Good review as always and hope to see you again at this year’s Z900rs meet at the Stratton Arms, we’ll be able to have a good old chinwag with you and the lads n lasses. Cheers Michael. 👍
My Fiancée and I have been waiting for these to come out. Last week we tried the Meteor 350 and the Super Meteor 650 back-to-back. I know this sounds a ridiculous comparison, but as most of the biking we enjoy these days is at 40/50/60mph we needed to try the little Meteor as I had the suspicion that it would meet our needs completely. Stepping up to the Super Meteor 650 the "premium" feel was obvious - except for the rear suspension which was jarring at slow speed. The little Meteor felt plush by comparison. Obviously, when "pushing on" the handling of the bigger bike would be far superior. But we just don't "push on" these days. The pillion provision on the Super Meteor (Celestial) was really good vs the little bike which she said felt cramped and uncomfortable. The weight of the Super Meteor 650 was a concern when pushing it around but is not a factor once underway. So, we are torn. Next, a test ride on the Classic 350 a day or two later then really put the cat amongst the pigeons 🙀 what a fantastic little bike 😁
Loved the look, fit and finish of this bike when I first laid my eyes on it, so much so that I ended up booking it earlier this month! Now awaiting the delivery of a Celestial Blue Super Meteor 650, which should be soon! 🤞🏻
Nice review, very clear and well toned and considered. Interesting to hear the thoughts of someone not used to 'cruisers', though I'm coming from the other direction, somewhat. I own a Triumph Speedmaster, but tried a Super Meteor yesterday. I love the Speedmaster and was only interested because it does have shortcomings: The 1200 engine gives only a 100 mile range (wondering where your next station is only 60ish miles after filling up I find very annoying!) and can be lumpy, simply because of the power you're controlling. The front suspension is short and bottoms out pretty regularly from the many MANY potholes in our roads. There are many beautiful details (like spoked tube wheels) that are somewhat impractical. The Super Meteor will clearly have twice the range and it proves to be a smoother experiencing requiring less feathering of the throttle and less use of the clutch to have an 'easy' ride. The suspension is firm (though as you observe, may improve with time) but it handled the holes better than the very low Speedmaster. I found the Super Meteor less 'like a cruiser' and more like a 'normal' bike, though, if that makes sense? The Speedmaster isn't really *very* cruiser-like compared to a Harley or such, but the Super Meteor is even less so. The forward controls are even less forward than the not-very-forward Speedmaster controls. The bucket seat feels even less 'buckety' than the Speedmaster. The bars are less swept back. This is not a *bad* thing, though, especially for those, that just want an 'easy' ride and not necessarily a cruiser, but I find my Speedmaster a more comfortable relaxing riding position. All things considered, I'm going to stick with my Speedmaster for now and see if another season of long rides with a short range and bouncing through potholes annoys me too much to overlook. As I say, I do *love* my Speedmaster, but trying a Super Meteor has really left me with a dilemma and much to consider.
Thank you for watching and making the time to comment . Your question , “is it a cruiser?” , is fair . I am not sure I am absolutely clear but it is the furthest I have had my feet forward on a bike in a while . It does feel like a low seat , conventional bike when you put both feet on the ground . I should try more of the current Truimph range . I had a couple of the modern classics a few years ago but drifted away when they changed dealer in Oxfordshire ..need to re-establish contact ..
I'm a hardcore cruiser rider. I mostly use them as touring bikes. They are the most comfortable motorcycles made. I've owned more than 40 of them since 1980. I got my first brand new motorcycle in 1980, and it was a Suzuki GS450L cruiser. I've put probably close to 800,000 miles on many cruisers, big, small, and mid sized. Never dropped one. I currently own a Kawasaki Vulcan 750 and a Harley Davidson Sportster 1200. Love them both. I hope the Super Meteor 650 comes to the U.S. They have way too much black on them for me, I like bright shiny paint, and lots of Chrome and polished aluminum. But I saw a bright blue one in a video, and I think it could be made to look very nice just by painting or powder coating the wheels and engine side covers silver. I'm not a fan of bikes that use the engine as a stressed member, and I don't care for the black wrinkle finish on the frame. One type of bike I have NEVER owned is a "crotch rocket", what I call a "sport bike". They seem to be made for nothing but reckless, irresponsible, and illegal riding on the street. They are designed for the track. There is no way I can handle the super low bars and super high rearset pegs on one of those things. Just sitting on a Kawasaki Ninja 1000RR (the RR stands for "race replica) while someone else held it up almost sent me to the chiropractor. More than just painful, it was an absolute torture rack. I do have a Royal Enfield UCE Bullet B5 500 single, converted from EFI to an Amal carburetor using a kit from Hitchcocks. I really like that bike, but have to stay very close to home with it because it has tube type tires, and a flat with tube type tires means a tow truck. Tubeless tires can literally save your life. I've almost been killed a couple of times when a tube blew out at highway speeds. It's kind of ridiculous when all you have are those paper thin tubes holding the air, while with tubeless tires you've got the super thick and reinforced tread and sidewalls holding the air. Cruisers are not designed for speed, handling, or better than average braking. They are designed for comfort. I would think the suspension would be a bit mushy, rather than hard. I just turned 64, and cruisers are now about the only bikes I can get my leg over the seat on. My favorite Royal Enfield of all time remains the original iron barreled 500cc Bullet. Unfortunately I was not able to buy one before they switched to the UCE engine and EFI. At least I was able to get rid of the EFI. Those are certainly not great touring bikes, but I have other bikes for that. The character of the old Royal Enfield 500 long stroke singles is wonderful. That wonderful THUMP THUMP THUMP they make is almost hypnotizing. I have ridden mine over 200 miles in one day, by riding over roads close to home more than once. The Meteor 650 is the first Royal Enfield that I think would make a good touring bike, and that I wouldn't be afraid to ride several hundred miles from home on. If only they would make at least one model without all that black on it. Motorcycles (except crotch rockets) are supposed to look good, and all that black just doesn't cut it.
Hi Michael. You hit the nail on the head regarding feet forward and handlebar position. I had a Vulcan 650. Handled beautifully. But, I found I was in a open clam like position. After a while my lower back really ached. I raked the handlebars back as much as I could and so moved the pegs to their most rearward position (bike has adjustable peg positions) and made a big difference. I just couldn’t get as comfortable as for example on my Bonnie, so ended up changing it. This bike looks lovely and like you, I am impressed with RE. If I ever considered this bike, I would look at that pegs/ bars geometry carefully. Great vid as always. Regards Den
It's the first time I have watched one of your reviews....very impressed I thought you gave the bike a clear concise review and I agree the quality of the bikes is approaching all the main players now...I will go and look at some more of your reviews as I like them ....and you are not trying to sell me something.
In am right in the "silver hair" category rider. My current rides are a BMW RNineT and a 2019 Royal Enfield Interceptor. I love the Beemer for its handling, power and build quality, but it can be a bit of a handful at times. The Interceptor is my weekend relaxed ride bike, a role it fits very well and I have been pretty happy with it overall. Then, Bingo! RE comes out out with what I think is the absolute perfect design for a weekend cruiser. I am in the market for the Super Meteor as soon as it hits the streets. Farewell Interceptor, hello Super Meteor.
What a brilliant comprehensive opinion of the super meteor. Loved the honesty and delivery, I’ve subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of you videos.
Thank you Gordon . Started making them in lockdown on the basis , how hard can it be ? 😳 There is a back catalogue of over 50 now , for when you can’t sleep . Joking aside it has been interesting to try and learn how to make them . Coming together now but still a lot to learn . Thank you again for the feedback . It is appreciated ..
@@michaelmam I’ve watched every single video you’ve produced Michael and you’ll be pleased to know I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every one of them and this Super Meteor is no exception. I do however love to watch them when “she who cracks the whip “ namely her indoors has gone off to bed. Bliss! 😊
Harley are already struggling. Their renounced customer base has died off now and the younger customers appear to want something more exciting and requiring less maintenance.
Hi Michael - great review as usual - hope you are keeping warm over there! This Royal Enfield company are really starting to take the world by storm. They must be doing some serious harm to the Triumph range. Cheers from Queensland.
Yes, thank you for the validation, I am in that "bad to tha' bone", arthritis and all, lock up your grandmothers, here I come demographic. Getting ready to return to bikes now retired at 62, been off bikes for many years and I am keen to get two wheels under again. Toss-up between this machine and the Kawasaki Vulcan 650. I do love the classic retro look of the black/green colour scheme of your test bike, same optioned up with a screen could be the go for me. Not looking for high speed, I live in Tasmania which is similar riding to England from what I can see, just an easy cruiser that I can chug along at 100kph without too much gear work. Could be the go!
I was waiting for these to come out but ran out of patience and bought an Interceptor instead. The Interceptor is a good bike, but has been left in the garage most of the time since I bought my V Strom. I previously had Harleys, and do prefer the comfort of the feet forward ride. Good to see the bike on my local roads around Witney, too. I might have to take a closer look at these next time I'm in Kings.
Hi Dave , the V Strom is such a capable bike in wet weather , I often use mine too .. Looking forward to taking the Interceptor into the cotswolds soon though ..
Thanks for this Micheal. I agree your views on the advertising, however having spent a bit of time in India over the last 20 years I can see this bike selling very well there. The mag wheel is really popular in India even classic bullets including the old iron head ones are frequently fitted with mag wheels by Indians . With both the unaffordable nature of Harley to many Indian folks and the closure of some of their branches a mid size affordable cruiser will fill a glaring gap in their market. Personally given the demographics of UK bikers I’m less certain that UK sales would be as high, but it looks a great quality bike for the price and as we age and need lighter bikes I can imagine those of us with knee problems enjoying a mid size feet forward ride. I put spoked wheels are likely to become an option for those who prefer a more traditional look.
Hi Phil , I am sure Royal Enfield will understand their target audience well . In most of the world a 650 is a big bike and shorter riders enjoy the lower seat height a cruiser can offer . 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ..
Good review, it's a nice bike and well finished, I own an Interceptor but wouldn't mind one of these in the garage as well, but the next Enfield addition will be a 350 Hunter for my missus when she's passed her test, I've watched a few of your reviews and like the content and presentation and have now just subscribed, keep up the good work, cheers 🙌👍
Great review , fantastic to hear you haven’t been tainted or influenced by other reviews and the thoughts on your reviews are purely your own . I have subscribed to your channel now and hope you will do the long ride review as I am considering changing my 650 continental for one of the celestial 650’s as I’m 60 next and have ridden most bikes in my life but these seem like a perfect steed now my gsxr and hyabusa days are over . Great review thanks and looking forward to the next
Greetings from across the pond. Nice eval. Kudoz to RE designers/engineers. Impressive motorcycle. My first 'big bike' experience was on a 1964 RE Interceptor of that same year. Epiphany ! Today, i wouldn`t buy a Bonneville without first riding & comparing this handsome rival. Ride On !
I have had a few modern Triumphs over the years but the local dealer changed and I haven’t established a relationship with the “new” one . I should really .. 👍 . I do like the Enfields
An interesting review of an intriguing bike. Like you, I'm not usually attracted to this genre of motorcycle but this RE is a bike I would be interested to try....comfortable, economical and with a great paint scheme, all offered at a more than reasonable price! I wouldn't buy one, but I would love to try one for a day to experience the cruiser vibe. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
I am British living in America, Actually raised in Banbury and Chipping Norton but now in Connecticut. I ride an Indian Chieftain DarkHorse which is a 1.9 Litre bagger but I really want one of these, They only just arrived in the states but come spring I shall head to my local Royal Enfeild dealer. (65 miles away) and terst ride one. Somehow I think it's my next Bike. I laughed out loud when you said the owners mostly look like you. They will here too. This is an old farts bike. I should know.
Another well balanced review there Michael. It appears that RE really do have their heads screwed on with regards marketing with their subtle upgrades and niche market audience. Not a great fan of cruisers myself, but this does look "acceptable" and adequately performs the task it was designed to do. I might just have a test ride to see how the bars/forward controls combination work. Shame we cant get OE tubeless for the Interceptor ...... cheers
@@michaelmam Thank you, I certainly hope so. I had a Virago 1100 in 1990 and Rob North here in Southern California designed some fir the bike. He works alone and is extremely busy at this time.
I've got a Scram 411. Very good bike. Couldn't get on with the Interceptor. I feel the frame could be a bit taller and a bit longer. It felt cramped. Nice bike otherwise. Handsome machine
A quality, informative but seemingly authoritative review of this Enfield, thank you. Another great review which rather surprised me; I was expecting a tad more criticism of it - no particular reason other than my own (perhaps incorrect) prejudices. It certainly looked a well made product and I did like the styling. My concern would possibly be the need for a tad more power after some months of ownership. Lovely bit of razor sharp cynicism riding through Witney…..delicious.
Thank you Nigel . I think your caution about performance is fair . The bike will cruise at 80mph comfortably but doesn’t have the traditional torque associated with traditional cruisers . Some will be fine with it , others ultimately wanting more . Sadly most of my sharper comments never make it to the final cut .. discretion being the better part of valour ,but glad you enjoyed them 😂
Another fantastic review of a very capable bike. I do like the Super Meteor as I think that its aesthetically a great looking cruiser and excellent value for money. I wonder what RE's accessory catalogue for this bike will be like? It definitely needs a "sissy bar" in my humble opinion if carrying a pillion. 🫡
Well you would know Julian ! You have ridden one pillion 👍 Thanks for finding the time to watch and comment . Good luck with your radio show tonight ..
Thank you Brian . Glad you enjoyed the video . My next video ( out Friday the 7th ) is the Hunter and includes a ride through Oxford. Funnily enough I mention the council again.. 😂
How long do RE life cycles last? I'd like to pick up this bike, can afford it, but I got a few years to go before my youngest goes off to college, and I'm holding onto till then until I can pick up a 2nd bike (have a crf300l for the occasional trail weekend). I had a Harley roadster in mind, but that is long gone and used only. Triumph's have really gone up in price to luxury levels.
Hi Ryan , not exactly sure I understand what you mean by life cycles ? RE seem to devolp an engine and then make various derivatives based on it . Some last longer than others , dependant on demand . The 650 Inty came out 2017 and is still in the range . They have just undated the 411 engine to 450 / liquid cooled and the 350 has been out a couple of years ? Not sure if I have helped but I tried 👍
What an excellent video ! This is my first visit to your channel and I found the subject matter and style of presentation to be 'Top Drawer'. Being a Royal Enfield owner already I too am fascinated to see where the Eicher team take the company - onward and upward ?
Thank you David . I suspect that the motorcycle business is a pretty tough one with different parts of the world having very different views on what bikes they want and emissions . Eicher seem to be growing against the tide . I wish them well . 👍
Sharing the same J series engine of interceptor. This ones affordable cruiser. Still suspension could have been little soft. I can agree that to maintain ground clearance its made harder. But still could have been little softer. After 500 miles continuous drive, anyone can judge. Still loved the design of ducati inspired upside down front suspension.
@@michaelmam I just bought it last month, got the first service done and now have around 1000KMs on the clock. I have noticed some softening of the rear shocks, but they still are plenty firm. They don't seem to jar quite as much as new.
@@flesz_ My local dealer did the first service, 500KMs, for 130 euros which included oil change and valve adjustment. The warranty is for three years which is one of the best in the business. The standard tool kit comes with the special tool to turn the crank to do future valve adjustments, so owner operator service is entirely possible. It is a relatively simple and easy engine to work on. Remove the gas tank and you have easy access to all the valves. The adjustment intervals are 5000kms. It is fuel injected so no carbs to synch or clean. I expect a lot of trouble free miles, especially after the motor fully settles in. I always use synthetic on my bikes and they rarely need any adjustment at valve time.
Nice review, one of the more balanced ones I think. The roads where you live look like they are in very bad condition and narrow too so having a bike with a lot of power is probably pointless so the RE is a good. option. Where I live (New Zealand) the roads are a bit faster and some rural roads can be ridden quite enthusiastically so the RE bikes are not as popular here.
Thanks Mark . We have a variety of roads here . Not all are as narrow as the ones I chose to film on , but many are poorly maintained . I have been away riding in Spain and Portugal on my GSX-S 1000GT - the roads are so much better ! You have had a unusual summer in New Zealand . Hope you managed to get plenty of riding in ?
@@michaelmam Haha, you are right, great in the South Island though and the roads there are probably the best in the whole country for riding. I ride a 2020 speed twin and think it's the perfect bike for our conditions.
Oxfordshire definitely seems like it's turning into the Switzerland of car-hate, not to mention the new 'traffic filters' they are now using to try to implement their 15 minute city - but those 20mph limits in the name of 'clean air' that are popping up everywhere are ridiculous. Spending 33% longer on the road at 2/3rds speed - does not bear out mathematically. Bikers have been proving this is nonsense for years. I'm next door in Gloucestershire, luckily I haven't seen much of the results of this ill-informed policy yet, but it is coming.
I lived in Oxfordshire for a long time as did my parents. I even went to Uni there too. They have ruined the place and are financially bankrupting it by pushing away the surrounding locals. Councillors who start all this crazy stuff are settled non vehicle owners who never feel the consequences.
A very good point. Most cars are happy in 3rd gear at 30mph and still feel satisfyingly responsive with that combination. At 20mph not so much and changing down a gear, the ratios put them out of the sweet spot and not best for best economy and subsequent environmental effeciency.
very good ride and review through some nice countryside , the daft advert with those plebs who would not know a bike if it rode over them makes me feel sick , re have a good product and then go and show how out of touch they are by showing that shite ;;; will be watching your channel some more - thanks ...
Hi Simon . Glad you enjoyed the review and thanks for commenting . My observation on the marketing was lighthearted . As you say RE are making bikes that sell well . Last time I looked they were selling over 700,000 a year ,which is significantly more than most European brands . In most parts of the world they sell to younger riders . The average age in the UK is 10 years older than the rest of the world ( 40 v 30) and our bike buyer average age significantly higher than that ! The young affluent Indian market is probably important to them . Just looks a little odd to us here in the UK ..😊
Actually when I saw the RE super Meteor 650 first time in the Web and on the photos, especially in the touring version, I was shocked in love with that thing. I try to get a test ride at a dealer somewhere in the environment here, which is not that easy to find. But if I feel good on this motorcycle, I really think of selling my beloved BMW R100R and getting the RE. I am already in the age of the chrome-bearded bikers and I think this one could be the one for taking short and long rides with great enjoyment.
@@Klaus-cp2zz Good luck in your search . Bike is worth a ride . I think it is an interesting bike and will definitely appeal to some . I enjoyed riding it .
@@michaelmam Thank you, Michael. I will surely find an opportunity to take a ride on it. And who knows how my feelings are then. I want to try that out and maybe it is the last motorcycle I will ever buy. Stay well and ride safe always.
Well I'm not a hipster but I defiantly could see myself on it. Just like having a engine on my easy chair plus it would piss off the tree huggers around here! They want me on electric scooter.
We are all biased .. that is ok 👍 Sounds like you are happy with your bike , which is what matters ! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ..
I think it looks good and the quality is good. I just wonder how much longer manufacturers are going to produce petrol and diesel vehicles with this ridiculous push for electric ones which I think won't work. What will become of bike and car racing, electric is not the answer.
A number of the bike manufacturers are pushing back hard now . Electric doesn’t work for them in bigger capacity , leisure markets .. Personally I think we may have snatched for a silver bullet solution( vehicles) but haven’t thought it through ..
😂 Don’t worry I will keep riding sports bikes for as long as I can get on them and the tablets work .. A friend has been on at me for 20 years saying “feet forward” .. I always respond “one day” ..
Muy buen vídeo. ¿Podría decirme si ambos neumáticos son sin cámara por favor? Muchas gracias. Desde Buenos Aires, Argentina un fuerte abrazo. El Paracaidista.
I'd like your 865. No this, though. I don't like feet-forward on two-wheelers. My 'car' is a Can-Am Spyder F3-S, the sports cruiser of the F3 range. That has feet-forward, although not stretched out. I like the set-up, but I'm not balancing the 'bike'. A 0-60 MPH time of slightly less than five seconds means it's a quick machine. 1330cc inline triple. The Super Meteor looks like a quality machine. I can see cruiser fans will like it, but for me, a crusier needs a big engine. Back in Portugal, where my F3-S is, I also have a Yamaha MT-01, a 1670cc air-cooled, four-valve per head V-twin. A cruiser engine in a sporty chassis.
I associate cruisers with big , normally loud , torquey engines too . I had fun on the Super Meteor but it is not my natural “ hunting ground” . In Portugal at the moment ! We have ridden down for the MotoGP 👍
Thanks Michael. i'm a new sub after watching a couple of your reviews they're just enjoyable to watch and your knowledgable company is certainly appreciated.. I'm waiting patiently in the U.S. for RE to expand their line to include this bike and the upcoing 450s. Best from Seattle U.S.A.
But it is not bad deal...easy on the eyes and easy on the wallet. Of course u can settle for a Triumph at 5 times the price. A lot of white people still have the money to buy one and keep this as a spare ride. I am too poor to buy one but literate enough to comment.
Hi ..Michael , need your expert advice.. yesterday i have taken my super meteor 650 delivery. This is my first ever royal enfield motorcycle.. i noticed, the engine is getting very very hot in a very short ride ..is it normal with royal enfield 650 engine?? Or it is an manufacturing fault? Pls advice me Michael. Thanx
Hi Aman , sorry to hear you are concerned about your bike . The best way to check your bike is ok will be an experienced mechanic /technician / engineer who is looking at your bike . As a general comment , which may give you some comfort the 650 twins are air and oil cooled ( not liquid) and they do run hot . When running in, I think it is helpful to let them cool down after a run and I stop every hour . If the bike is getting very hot - glowing exhausts etc you need to have it professionally checked over asap . Hope this helps
@@Meteor_Super650 Hi Aman, it does heat up until the engine gets more smoothened out for each gear with use, rawa hone m 5k-10k km it may take, then it puts a smile on your face
I think going from an Inty or GT to a Super would be a disappointment, The 650cc does not need an extra 100lbs. You might be okay going from a Meteor to a Super.
Forged aluminium and steel this bike has absolutely no plastic everything is metal even the electronics housing are made of forged aluminium even front and rear mudguards are made of very thick steel when you ride it feels like you are on an old Soviet tank and it's a good feeling because I hate when things feel plastici
The extreme weight (considering the displacement/brakes/R.E.'s usual mundane suspension) would prevent me from even considering it. My 2020 Enfield INT650 with a full stainless-steel exhaust weighs 100 pounds less; you couldn't give me a motorcycle in excess of 500 pounds. This is a ridiculous amount of mass for a bike of 648cc and it makes the engineers look stupid; as the saying goes "putting lipstick on a Pig"...
And yet, the Interceptor 650, Classic 350 and Hunter 350 were all on the Top 10 of most sold bikes in the UK in 2022. The top 3 of most sold bikes was Honda bikes with 125 cc or less. So yes, there's definitely a market for small displacement motorcycles.
When are manufacturers going to learn to put 2 disc brakes up on the front wheel of any of their heavier, higher performance cruisers. Here's the way I see it. If you're talking about a higher priced bike, then the additional single disk and caliper isn't a big addition. To me, the front end looks better balanced and it would stand, that the braking is better balanced. The idea of leaving a disc off so that people can see the wheel is ridiculous. Put another disc on it and get on with it!!
@@Armanispice lose a fair amount of power with shaft drive . Not sure it has much to spare . Belt drive not a particularly popular solution . Most manufacturers have tried it but few persist . Not sure why .. 🤷🏼♂️
T h i s i s N O T b u l l e t...a new concept with nothing in it reminiscent of the bullet. So say Super Meteor is a bad deal and not bullet. This is for those starting off the block who want to graduate to the much pricier Harley or Triumph later.
@@UshaUsha-re3gu That's why I bought the bike because of all the good things I was hearing about the engine and gearbox. Other than the engine issue its a lovely bike.
I have a wristwatch that sounds more like a motorcycle than this "Super Meteor." Somebody, please tell me, why, for the love of God, can't the English make more more of their old marques at home besides Triumph? Why can't we have a resurgence of the Matchless 600cc Typhoon -- with electric start, of course, since spiral fractures of the lower kick-start leg are now deemed to be in bad taste? Or how about a nice Greeves scooter that sounds like the 1963 Greeves Motocross Special with "cowbell" exhaust? We have fallen so far, so quickly. Why, in my time, when the lad with the Norton Atlas started his bike, all the other guys would look down to see if their bikes were still running. Give me noise, give me overweight steel frames and lots of oil leaks. Enough with this stuff made on the Sub Continent for the Sub Continent.
😂 Britain continued to make bikes that broke down and leaked oil , well into the early 70’s . Trouble is few wanted to buy them , preferring Japanese sewing machines instead ..less money, more performance and a much higher chance of getting home ..
@@michaelmam I understand. I was on both sides of that era, riding a BSA 444 Victor to college, then a Kawasaki 500 widow maker and on and on. My 1970 Triumph TR6C and various Greeves were the most fun of all, however.
@@michaelmam Some of my rant was tongue in cheek, of course, and I hope I'm not a racist when I distrust the materials and workmanship of bikes coming from India. The Royal Enfield Bullet was sold for many years, and it was nothing to brag on. What I serious would like to see, and might buy, is a big single, better than the 441 Victor Special I rode for years, that honestly recaptures some of the fun of a thumper, yet with some modern touches for us old farts, like electric start, good lights, electronic ignition. But let it vibrate and have that bottom-end torque we used to love.

Do I miss my HD? Mmmm, I must say that the FB was even more comfortable but just too heavy for my wife. Do I regret? Absolutely not!! ☺️
@@DutchBigTwinLover that’s what I want to hear mate, I have a classic 350 but going to add a 650 also 😊
36yr old female here, finally ordered one in interstaller grey after thinking for a month, test rode one twice and fell in love with the smoothness, can't wait, think it'll be here next week🎉🎉
Have fun . Great bikes 👍
I think globally , there will be a big market for this bike . We will see 👍
Short and sweet this Michael…….Royal Enfield are going the extra mile to bring good quality products to the masses at very affordable prices.
Have fun 👍
@@michaelmam thank you! 😊
Like the video and the professional way you executed the review. A nice change to see this done which was more informative and enjoyable.
Very good balanced review Michael, very much appreciate the calmness in which you present your reviews
Glad you like them! Thank you Peter .
Good comments. Check out the red and white version it has a lot less black although the wheels are still black. I would have to paint those wheels.
Whatever there is nothing comfortable about not being able to stand and rest the legs.
Regards
Den
Always great to hear from you Denis . Thanks for sharing your insight . Vulcan 650 is a good comparator ..
It's the first time I have watched one of your reviews....very impressed I thought you gave the bike a clear concise review and I agree the quality of the bikes is approaching all the main players now...I will go and look at some more of your reviews as I like them ....and you are not trying to sell me something.
I got one now, got indians and other makes and it's my favourite bike so far for a fraction of the price brand new to any competition. Recommend it!

Great review. I think this bike will firmly establish RE in the colonies. Lookout, Harley!
Thank you Ian . Spring has sprung but I am cheating and have headed down to Portugal for the opening race of Moto GP 👍
I do like a quiet bike. That sounded sweet.

Seems like an awesome machine love it!
😂 Whatever you choose , have fun 👍
Very informative, cheers mate 👍🍻
Put = presume 😂
Hi Phil , I am sure Royal Enfield will understand their target audience well . In most of the world a 650 is a big bike and shorter riders enjoy the lower seat height a cruiser can offer . 👍 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment ..
As always fantastic informative video, lovely looking bike 👍🏍🇬🇧
Good review, it's a nice bike and well finished, I own an Interceptor but wouldn't mind one of these in the garage as well, but the next Enfield addition will be a 350 Hunter for my missus when she's passed her test,

Nostalgia is a powerful marketing tool.
Cheers.
Useful review. The primary reason I like the bike (and am considering buying one) is that it looks like a motorcycle (does that make sense?)
In fairness , it only needs to make sense to you !
Cruiser style bikes are niche but for some , they are the only style they consider …
Looks Very Nice. 🇧🇷👍🏻
Excellent video, Michael.....wonder from your comment how it would be in slow traffic between 2nd or 3rd given weight and gearing?
Personally I think it would be fine David . Traffic tends to move at varying speed . It is ok . A constant 20 is tedious ..
Well presented and reasoned presentation. I totally agree 💯
Shame we cant get OE tubeless for the Interceptor ...... cheers
Great video, interesting bike. Big shout for the picture of the legend the late great JOEY DUNLOP.
I'd love to see them do a black out version with gators, black exhaust and black hardware.

I've got a Scram 411. Very good bike. Couldn't get on with the Interceptor. I feel the frame could be a bit taller and a bit longer. It felt cramped. Nice bike otherwise. Handsome machine
I liked the Scram . Unpretentious.. th-cam.com/video/EHZIA-wdIBM/w-d-xo.html
Sadly most of my sharper comments never make it to the final cut .. discretion being the better part of valour ,but glad you enjoyed them 😂
Hopefully they will release a version that has black exhaust.

Great review, having experienced the 865 kit how would you speculate the a big bore kit would translate with this bike?
The Big bore kit improves BHP but the biggest improvement is torque . In my opinion it would suit this bike really well . 👍
Pretty sure the 650 air-cooled twins are the P series, not J😉
Consider the suspension with full load and some luggage ..
The front shocks are brilliant and the rear shocks do soften up over time.
Good to hear . How many miles have you done on yours ?
@@michaelmam I just bought it last month, got the first service done and now have around 1000KMs on the clock. I have noticed some softening of the rear shocks, but they still are plenty firm. They don't seem to jar quite as much as new.
@@TXLorenzo I'm considering buying one.
What's like with warranty and servicing , how often and what's the cost?
Can you service yourself?

Good review. Nice looking bike. I’ve never ridden a cruiser but always wondered does the wind go up your trouser legs due to the foot position?
😂 I think my size 8’s acted as a wind break . I actually adapted to the riding position surprisingly quickly ..
Yes it does so great for hot summers (unless the bees are flying). Best to tuck your jeans into your boots

Certainly seems to be dividing people . I suspect this one will run for a while ..
The debate is getting very heated in Oxfordshire . Apparently it has all party support but a few MP’s are feeling the heat from their constituents ..
It wouldn’t happen in France, maybe we should be a bit more vocal and show our true feelings.
A very good point. Most cars are happy in 3rd gear at 30mph and still feel satisfyingly responsive with that combination. At 20mph not so much and changing down a gear, the ratios put them out of the sweet spot and not best for best economy and subsequent environmental effeciency.
Thank you for this well made video
very good ride and review through some nice countryside , the daft advert with those plebs who would not know a bike if it rode over them makes me feel sick , re have a good product and then go and show how out of touch they are by showing that shite ;;; will be watching your channel some more - thanks ...

But it is not bad deal...easy on the eyes and easy on the wallet. Of course u can settle for a Triumph at 5 times the price. A lot of white people still have the money to buy one and keep this as a spare ride. I am too poor to buy one but literate enough to comment.

props for making fun of stupid speed limits
Thank you so very much Michael for your kind attention. I will go through the same as you suggested.
1kg heavier than a 150PS shaft driven Tiger 1200 GT 😮. What are they building this bike from!
It is heavy but I couldn’t feel it when riding . You could pushing it around the garage but it was low , which helps .
Forged aluminium and steel this bike has absolutely no plastic everything is metal even the electronics housing are made of forged aluminium even front and rear mudguards are made of very thick steel when you ride it feels like you are on an old Soviet tank and it's a good feeling because I hate when things feel plastici
@@calibergaming4159 a real bike, then
The extreme weight (considering the displacement/brakes/R.E.'s usual mundane suspension) would prevent me from even considering it.
@@frederickwoods5943 you REALLY don’t like it , do you !
nice looking bike but RE does not get it that most bikers want 950cc or so not a slow 650
Globally , 650 is a big bike but I know what you mean 👍
And yet, the Interceptor 650, Classic 350 and Hunter 350 were all on the Top 10 of most sold bikes in the UK in 2022.
The top 3 of most sold bikes was Honda bikes with 125 cc or less.
So yes, there's definitely a market for small displacement motorcycles.
@@Sunesen small , commuter style bikes have been the biggest sector for decades 👍
That bike is not a stressed member frame.R.E. no longer produces any bikes with stressed member construction
David , you might want to check the press release statements on the super meteor . 👍
The new Hunter has no lower frame rails.....engine incorporated stress member.
The classic 350 reborn has lower rails but are not continuous from upper down tubes.....so engine incorporated stress member construction
Should have been a belt or shaft drive
@@Armanispice lose a fair amount of power with shaft drive . Not sure it has much to spare . Belt drive not a particularly popular solution . Most manufacturers have tried it but few persist . Not sure why .. 🤷🏼♂️
Royal Enfield Super Meteor- A step forward at the edge of a cliff.
😂
You should sit on one , it's a great bike for the money.
T h i s i s N O T b u l l e t...a new concept with nothing in it reminiscent of the bullet. So say Super Meteor is a bad deal and not bullet. This is for those starting off the block who want to graduate to the much pricier Harley or Triumph later.
I too was a big fan until my 2020 Classic 500 big end bearings shit themselves at 4,600 klms
Sorry to hear that ! I don’t hear of many such failures but if it is only one , and its your bike , I can understand your disappointment . 😞
Company'stopped 500 cc engine here in India too because it has some issues. I can understand it but these bikes are much Better
@@UshaUsha-re3gu That's why I bought the bike because of all the good things I was hearing about the engine and gearbox. Other than the engine issue its a lovely bike.

Who dont know how to review a bike

@@robertodebeers2551 I respect that . People get a lot of pleasure out of their old “Brit” bikes . And why not !
@@robertodebeers2551 I guess no more racist than the reputation of poor British engineering around the world.
Looks like an overly long, lumbering, less comfortable Interceptor🤮
