I must say that RE really nailed the styling for a cruiser. I am from the US and have ridden cruisers for 30 years and only just bought my 1st non-cruiser a few months ago. The Super Meteor silhouette is very close to a HD 883 sporty. Power and weight are also similar too. Great job.
That bike does look very substantial. Will have to see this bike in person to make a final judgment, but I like what I see, so far. The gauge panel looks nice, and the amount of steel used is something I appreciate, whether it corrodes or get chipped over time. Aged metal looks better than aged plastic, anyway!
I am expecting my super meteor in the second week of April and am very excited about it. I owned a Thunderbird 350 before, which I bought in 2013. Since then, Royal Enfield has grown a lot, and I can see the changes myself.
Looks like a good bike. At 240kg is is just 20 kg less than my Triumph Speedmaster 2009 and it has plastic guards I think. My old Bullet Electra 2007 is holding up but the enamel on bare steel paint will need to be re-done soon to epoxy. I repainted the front guard on the Bullet years ago and it is uneven on the front. I left it uneven because it is hand made. I have been watching and waiting. I think this Super Meteor might be my next bike. You can never live with just one bike. Don't forget electronic rust proofing it is a thing.
Morning Stu, like you I am not a cruiser style biker, but fair play to RE, this is a good looking and well made one. Love the Green paintwork, I wish other manufacturers would offer more colour options as they do.

One of the best looking motorcycles on the market right now (still prefer the looks of my Speedmaster, but it does look way better then my Interceptor) Once this hits the market here in Texas, I intend to trade off the Interceptor for one of these in black.
Nicely described Stu, (I sat on one at the London bike show a few weeks ago) and found it surprisingly wide and low down heavier than the meteor, but beautifully made. I think it will be a hit with heavier riders that like the look of the meteor, but just wanted more power.

I think you are the first person on TH-cam, that I have seen, who has mentioned that the mudguards and side panels on this bike are steel. Pretty sure you are the only one who mentioned the new numeric markings on the chain adjustment rails. RE did well to add this! I wish the Interceptor had it too. And yes, I am not into cruisers either but I can appreciate all that RE has done here. I sat on one of these in the local showroom and agree with most if not all of your observations.
Thank you, That's the most thorough inspection of the Super Meteor that I've seen. to date. I am looking forward to one of your proper reviews and rides. There are so many "reviews" out now there now where the guy just reads out the spec sheet and takes it out on a ride for a couple of hours.
A nice introduction to what looks like a really lovely and substantial machine. There isn't much not to like with this bike at all and what initial concerns there are, you cover well here. The lack of twin instrument clocks is the stand out thing for me but everything else appears very high quality, well finished and premium. It's really good that they have shielded the rear brake cylinder so neatly. The Scram and Himalayan also have an exposed rear brake cylinder but you have to pay extra to have a shield with those and it isn't nearly so neat and 'in keeping' as the one on this bike.
I really wanted one of these bikes in the touring edition… I went to the dealer here in Thailand and asked him to order me one.. he could not.. said at that time he wouldn’t know how much to charge me…so I asked.. okay when will you get one in the dealership.? Again.. he didn’t know.. 2 weeks.? 2 months.? He didn’t know…so I went to triumph and they had a speed master for me in 3 days…I test road 1 a few weeks earlier and really liked the power… so now I will start touring Thailand on a triumph…he probably still doesn’t have a super meteor in his showroom… what a shame…
Hi Stuart. This is the best walk around of the Bike on TH-cam so far,Great job, been looking forward so much to see what you think of it , can't wait for your Road report, been watching all the passionate Indian TH-camr's you beat them hands down, you are the first person to open the side case and show the tool kit. flying down to the Bangkok International Motor Show next week to see it in the flesh for the first time.
^ What the ThaiExpat said ... Best walkaround presentation, better than browsing in a dealer's showroom. Many thanks to Stuart for the video, it shows a lot. RE have done a good job of this bike, the fit & finish looks good, as do the welds, paint and general build quality. Styling isn't too bad for a first time model. The wheel spoke design isn't my cup of tea, the exhaust could have been improved in styling, but overall not bad. Good to see the welding improved over other models of the past.
I really like the switchgear, handlebar grips and frame finish. I agree that the logo on the clutch cover is a bit garish. If I was in the market, the Super Meteor would be top of the list!👍
Nice one Stuart, I checked out the super Meteor at my local dealers last week, it's more substantial than I initially thought and the overall finish is very impressive...
I love your dog, Uncle Stu ! My working dog, Cassie, was a Border Collie/Kelpie cross and , a super smart thinker ,,who personalised seats on the back of my road bikes. Did not grow old, due to mammery cancer. Still miss her !!
If I do end up owning this bike someday, I'll swap the clutch cover with the polished aluminium one from the Interceptor 650. I really wish this bike had more chrome parts on it, bit oh well. Once again RE has knocked it out of the park.
Sat on one at the Scottish Motorcycle Show on Saturday 11/03/23. Instantly felt at home on it, much like I did when I tried out a Classic 500. I need to do the maths and take on e for a test ride. However, if not this year, then very soon I will have one in my garage next to my Classic 500. Look forward to your thoughts on how it rides.
A very impressive, detailed walk-around review! You have done RE and your fellow prospective owners proud. I want one of these bikes. This is the first RE of the present India-built motorcycles that has impressed me because of the fit and finish that your video shows. This looks like the quality that was crafted into my 1994 HD Electra Glide - or maybe even better. Can't wait to watch your riding review of this beautiful machine.
Lovely looking bike, great first review, not mentioned in the video, service intervals are shorter than the Int/Conti for some unknown reason, I emailed RE asking why, they chose to ignore that one, maybe you can find out - engine service is 4660 miles according to the service manual from RE.
Great review brings something you don't get on most reviews on TH-cam let's call it the xfactor don't know what is common sense, maturity whatsoever uncle Stu a cut above
Thanks for the good presentation. A cruiser is a great bike for older guys (I´m 65) as it is easy to get a leg over and most of the weight is low down so the handling is not difficult when parking. That weight is also great to have on highways, for example when overtaking lorries in windy conditions weight is just what´s needed for a steady ride. That bike is a looker, I would definitely look back on it every time I parked it somewhere. It is on my shortlist for new bike, my Vulcan is from -95 (still in good condition though) and I am thinking of replacing it with something new and this could be it. In comparison it is down almost 20hp on power so that may be a consideration but when I get to ride one I will know if that is a problem. Also getting back to chain and sprockets after a long time with a shaft drive is maybe a thing to consider but almost all of my previous bikes were chain driven without ever being a problem so that adjustment is mostly mental. Ride safe, I´m already looking forward to what you have to say when you have tried it thoroughly.
First off, love your work on this channel. First class review, nicely detailed too. If I was up for buying a new bike, this would be worth considering. There was one thing and this is only my just my feeling. I do not like the style of the muffler. I have also heard one of these running, I thought it sounded too soft, but as I said, this is just my feelings. Still a good bike. At 70 years young and still riding, not big bikes any more, I'm back on a 1970 T100R Triumph.
Morning Stu, I'm so looking forward to your rider review of the Super Meteor. I've got my heart set on a Classic 350, red chrome of course but, wow, that Super Meteor looks the business and I'm having a bit of a rethink. I'm sure you'll help me make my mind up.
@@williamhuxley Will', thank you so much for your understanding and insightful response. You are right, two very different machines despite their shared heritage. It's probably, and quite literally a case of suck it and see. I feel a couple of lengthy test rides are imminent.
Meteor owner here. Luggage on the way. I've always had heavy cruisers so at 67 the Meteor 350 suits me. The Super Meteor is beautiful but I would have loved to see it with the genuine panniers and passenger back rest. I have read that this bike is quite a heft to put it on the main stand. I agree with you on the engine cosmetics and those beautiful mufflers. I've never be a big fan of the 650 motor's appearance, but it is very popular. The Meteor suits me and as it is not the base model, has just enough polished metal. People are drawn to it more than bikes 5X the price. Not salt on my local roads! 🙏🇦🇺
Morning Stuart, yes it's a proper solid bike, love how the paint work lit up when the sun hit it , nice colour too👌 The style of this bike reminds me of a 1955 sprung hub Triumph Thunderbird I had, which I sacrilegiously but tastefully customised in the '70's, I like the look of the Super Meteor but won't be parting with my Interceptor for one , if I did have one I'd look at fitting a standard footrest/ controls setup as I don't like the feet forward feeling. Looking forward to your road review of it , Cheers 🍻
Excellent and unbiased introduction to the RE Super Meteor; thank you. It certainly looks like a substantially made motorcycle; the firm are attempting to show the world that they are capable of producing quality products. But as you say, it’s not without its flaws. Spot on about the RE logo on the clutch cover, it really looks cheap’n nasty! It’s not my type of bike (cruisers) and I’d suspect that the weight and moderate power from the engine may leave some buyers slightly disappointed with its performance - I look forward to your on road review.
Looks nice even though its not my cup of darjeeling ! The quality is superb apart from the forward controls , I think they could have done them a little more premium ! Love the handlebar switchgear and levers I hope they make them available to buy off the dark Interceptors ! 👍🏻
Wonderful honest and detailed review again. Looking forward to the second part. I tried this bike in Italy and was blown away by how it rides. Ordered the touring version, so even a little heavier with the windscreen and touring seats, and added some motorguards and mudguard and even wider footpads. Can't wait until it arrives in May.
Hey Stuart, thanks for putting this overview of the 650 together. I must admit that I stunned by the absence of heated grips. RE have done a wonderful job in their embossed and shaped grips, but to not have included even as an option heated grips for their premium model is a sad mistake.
I am itching to get to the dealer and see this bike when it get to the states. I ride an Indian Scout and our Indian dealer is the RE dealer here in Central Kentucky. My first bike was a BSA 650 Lightning & I have a real soft spot for this style bike. Everything I've seen by and about RE for the last 4 years since they got into the 650 twin niche has been quite impressive. I've said for a long time that this is a market segment that has been sorely neglected by bike manufacturers

Sat on one of these yesterday (was picking up my 2023 classic 350). I usually dislike feet forward controls, but on the super meteor not so much. Very nice bike!
Was eagerly waiting for Uncle Stu's review so have to wait for driving experience one a lil' bit :) I have booked mine recently and hoping to get the Interstellar green version by April / May.
An excellent detailed walk round, thank you. The green version as shown here, whether in Astral or Interstellar variant is a beautiful dark and rich colour that can appear almost black in some lighting conditions, and then bright green in others, and you caught this transition perfectly at 5:25. I personally prefer the Interstellar version for the full metal tank badge and gold pin striping on the tank. A beautiful bike! Thanks again, you earned a sub! 🙂
Morning Stewart. I've already watched a couple of vids on the RE Super Metor. But your opening discription on your walk-around was possibly the most comprehensive. Nicely done sir! As I look at this bike my mind keeps straying as I try to imagine chrome crash bars front and rear. Leather throw-over saddle bags and possibly a couple of extra small LED rear lights? As for the weight a good thing on a moterways in windy conditions. I used to get blown all over the place holding 70mph on my old 650 Yamaha. That was the only fault if I could call that as a fault with that bike. Looking forward to seeing take that out for a ride with an old pair of scuffed up boots in the near future 😉😁. So in the mean time, safe riding Stewart 👍!
@@DennisMerwood-xk8wp Dennis, in the three and a half years of owning the XS650 Yamaha I put nearly 35,000 miles on the clock. And it let me down once with a flat tire! My mate had his bike stollen, so I sold the 650 to him. He had her for two more years before a builders lorry reversed over it! We were both gutted as we felt we'd lost an old mate. All the best.
These days cruisers are lacking and RE made a great thing to announce this one and the Shotgun lately. They are gonna sell well in my opinion. For those that would like to have a classy a bit old-school cruiser this is the great choice. To be honest, there are not many other brand options that would offer similar motorcycles. A great video bro. Enjoyed. Like well deserved.
Looks great, RE keep hitting the mark. Really looking forward to more news about a 650 Classic thats been teased on testing circuits. Definitely be in the market for that.
Thanks for the review, I have booked the same Astral Green color, waiting for delivery here in India hopefully by mid April I will get it!! I chose this colour just by looking at images this the first time seeing a detailed video of this colour and for me it looks stunning!!
Nice looking bike. Looking to get my certification in the spring and love the look and value RE gives. I will probably go with the Himi for my first, but these 650’s do look nice.
Great vid as always Uncle Stu and I really like this bike. However, totally agree with your issues, especially the front footrest hangers and the master cylinder mount looks hideous. Great opportunity for MOTONE to CNC a nice setup and convert to a thumb brake. Also, retro fit an Interceptor clutch cover and cerakote to match
I was start following your channel just for the Royal Enfield reviews honestly, BUT as I hear from this last video you going deep inside in other social matters that touch most of people around Europa no matter the country that you live. Congratulation dear Stuart and I agree with you for thema that you talking about. The same they do in Greece. Thank you for the excellent ride from with my beloved motorbike.
Nice looking bike and I like that R.E. are branching out after improving their build quality. If you want a new bike like this at the price I'm sure you'll be happy, but forced to wonder if one wouldn't be better off buying a used Yamaha Bolt or a gently used Sportster.
Having done my fair share of repairing rusty mudguards which is an absolute ball ache of a job, the switch to plastic items is a welcome one for me. I mean who other than you is ever going to notice.
Good job as usual. Wish I could get this motorcycle as my next bike, but it’s not available in Japan and they don’t have a date yet. They suggest around fall to winter 2023. I guess EU was first after India and next is North America. Ah well maybe if it stays at a good cheaper price it can join the stable in a few years.
Was admiring one of these in the dealership, while I was having work done to my Classic 350. The quality is amazing for the price. I was very surprised!
Re RE corrosion resistance... well, the bike is made in India, so it must resist Indian conditions, especially humidity levels so high that it seems that the country is permanently enveloped in a haze so thick that it needs a machete to get through... (personal experience)
I still think Meteor 350 is not just a smaller and inferior version of SM 650 since it is superior/different in many aspects like for example it's ergonomics which are very unique. It's foot pegs are not totally in front but enough to provide the fun of cruiser without the negatives like relativly more stress on tail bone. It has higher ground clearance which gives peace of mind especially in country like India. The stock sound of SM 650 doesn't match it's looks too.
@@ethanrhanielle2474 well now you have changed the subject completely and gone off at a tangent. That wasn't the basis of your original comment was it!

Well thought out review as usual. A negative is why on earth did they put the USB in the side panel? Makes much more sense to have it under the left switch gear as on the meteor 350.
Brilliant video as always Stuart and I love the look of this bike and I would protect it with Lanoguard, its not cheap but excellent stuff to use on cars and bikes 😃👍🏻
Great review. I’m no foot forward guy, but I really like it - probably going to get one in the future. The modern RE logo seems to sit well with the Himalayan that I have, but I agree is a little out of place on this bike.
It certainly looks like a Harley! It will definitely attract buyers who want a Harley but are put off by the size and price of it. Stu, I don't mean to cast aspersions, but cast wheels are much lighter than spokes wheels generally - I know they look lighter, but I have weighed both types and spokes wheels, even with alloy rims are way heavier, and the modern hollow-cast alloy wheels are so light they weigh nothing.
Harley Davidson size weight no price yes. Harley Davidson are very heavy metal owner from Evo engine twin cam now M8. Love them because they are metal and paint body work ect. Unfortunately they are ridiculous price now wasn't cheap in the first place but they had couple of model's that was realistic achievable. Not now so this Royal Enfield super meteor probably be filling a Gap especially in USA of which Harley Davidson has dropped the ball 🏈 fumbled.
@@alancrane4693Alan HD did not has dropped the ball 🏈 fumbled. The Sportsters were gathering dust in dealers' showrooms. No point in making a bike your customers do not want.
Its a hansom lookin bike.and realy shows where RE plan on goin in the bike market. Good walkaround showing too stu. And agree with u on the fwd foot controls and rear brake taking a bit from the bike.
Since it's an Indian brand, might not head in that direction as they focus on mileage and overall pricing to keep it cost effective. But since the last few years a lot of changes and advances have been made so maybe we might see one in the near future.
I am definitely a cruiser rider, at least 40 of my more than 50 bikes have been cruisers. They are the best, most comfortable solo touring bikes that exist. If the Meteor 650 shows up in the U.S., in the red and white color, and RE dealers don't try to sell them for nearly twice MSRP like they are still currently doing (they still have a good supply of 2022 models in inventory, because people aren't buying them at that price) I may very well buy one. I would have the wheels painted or powder coated silver within the first week, then slowly paint and/or chrome other parts over time. Being nearly 64, I'm assuming this bike should last the rest of my riding life, so it would be worth investing some money in to improve the looks. My 2006 H-D Sportster 1200L weighs 251 kg, but has nearly twice the displacement. It's also a twin. It is also mostly metal. I don't find it's weight objectionable. It has a 26" (660mm) seat height, compared to a 29" (736mm) seat on the Meteor 650, which will make the meteor hard to get on and off of for me. It's almost identical to my Kawasaki Vulcan 750, which I can just barely get on and off of, with some degree of pain.
Thanks for making this video. One general thing that I think Yutube need to be told is that there is nowhere to post about.. I think it would be better for most people if the date the video was posted was claerly visible rather than an approximation of how long ago it was.
Hey Stu, thanks for the vid, a nice looker no doubt, completely unrelated I took my 2023 Goldwing DCT B in for it's 1st service today, 2 things happened after; 1/ I test rode an NT1100 DCT and hated it in comparison to the Wing. 2/ The courtesy bike was a Honda PCX 125 scooter which I absolutely loved... perfect for urban conditions, so I've ordered one, so destined to have Little and Large in my garage. Having a previously broken leg 23 years ago which is still only partially healed even now...I decided automatic bikes are now a must for me. Cheers👍
Cruisers are NOT my bag at all. Bikes with floor boards wtf? Having said that, I really, really love the look of the bike, what a superb job RE. I agree the RE badge is rather naff but that being said, over all…..really nice. I’d love to see one in the flesh and I’d love a ride on one.
Lovely looking, I'm not personally a fan of all the satin finish metals on the front end or the satin engine casings.....but at the price point, it's barely even a gripe.
Still not a fan of cruisers , but in the Super Meteor I ( now thanks to this video ) can see a platform for a modern shot at a post war bobber 🤔! Something Triumph , Bristol and others have attempted . I can see in the SM a far cleaner attempt! PS: I must say I do rather like the looks of that tail light 😎
Not really my choice of styling but I like it ! I would like it even more if the 'pegs were mid-mounted. It is a strange choice for their first USD forks but, given the quality of the rest of the RE offerings, I am confident they have got everything right. Well done RE 👍👍👍👍👍
As a long-time Harley Davidson owner, I really like what Royal Enfield is doing. This is the bike Harley should have made. Looking forward to seeing these in the US.
I AGREE. A Harley is a 'must have' bike for every biker, but engineering is the real pasion, not the brand.

I can’t wait Fridays video. I will also try this bike in the next few days. The style has already conquered me.
Cracking motorcycle for that money
I have also heard one of these running,
I thought it sounded too soft, but as I said, this is just my feelings.
Still a good bike.
At 70 years young and still riding, not big bikes any more, I'm back on a 1970 T100R Triumph.
I went to see one yesterday. After 55 years of biking on a vast array of bikes, I was very impressed with the quality, especially at the price.
I’m looking forward to a Classic 650. Really hope we see one.
@@williamhuxley Oh dear, you might be right. I hope my wife doesn't read this😱
Meteor owner here.
Morning Stuart, yes it's a proper solid bike, love how the paint work lit up when the sun hit it , nice colour too👌
The style of this bike reminds me of a 1955 sprung hub Triumph Thunderbird I had, which I sacrilegiously but tastefully customised in the '70's, I like the look of the Super Meteor but won't be parting with my Interceptor for one , if I did have one I'd look at fitting a standard footrest/ controls setup as I don't like the feet forward feeling.
Looking forward to your road review of it ,
Cheers 🍻
Great explanation on the Super meteor Stu , I'm not a fan of the forward foot peg thing but RE have made another stunning machine for a great price
On point and great review, can't wait to see it myself in person and looking forward to a test ride video, hopefully soon.
Morning Stu as you said it looks a heavy beast , i love the colour tbh , take care & ride safe
Was eagerly waiting for Uncle Stu's review so have to wait for driving experience one a lil' bit :) I have booked mine recently and hoping to get the Interstellar green version by April / May.
Great review! I recently had the pleasure of riding this bike and the low-down weight really gives you confidence in the corners!
SUPERB IN DEPTH REVIEW STUART ! WELL DONE.🇬🇧
The old Yamaha XS650 was streets better than these anachronisms by any criteria Les.
I like your dog walking opening segment he has that happy exuberant way only a well cared for dog can show
Nice looking bike.
I agree. I like the substantial feeling of my 248 kg SCR950. The Super Meteor 650 looks good for a cruiser. It will sell well.
Great walk around/overview ! Thank you !
Great, solid looking bike.
Well done, that is one great review of parts , I will be right here waiting to see the ride.
Having done my fair share of repairing rusty mudguards which is an absolute ball ache of a job, the switch to plastic items is a welcome one for me. I mean who other than you is ever going to notice.
Coat the underneath with more paint
Nice. Thank you.
When I retire, it’s my first choice for a bike.
A good in-depth walk around for this bike.
Looking forward to your ride review.
Lovely walk around and concise review of the bike.. as always 👍👍
Can’t wait to try one it looks fab I saw one close up at my dealership. Impressive.
Very informative Stu. Not my style of bike but looks very well built.
Was admiring one of these in the dealership, while I was having work done to my Classic 350. The quality is amazing for the price. I was very surprised!
great review and look forward to the ride one. i like the look but not keen on forward controls.
I could listen to this man literally all day! 😂❤
Nice stuff, Stu. I look forward to the ride review.
Different pipes will cure that
@@ethanrhanielle2474 The 350 engine does not scream at 70 mph. Did you try advancing past 2nd gear?
@@ethanrhanielle2474 well now you have changed the subject completely and gone off at a tangent. That wasn't the basis of your original comment was it!
@@ethanrhanielle2474 "350 is pretty useless as ur main bike in western countries" really? America is not the Centre of the universe! A 350 is fine all over Europe, I know because ive travelled through just about every European country on a bike. Stuart is right the 350 is a low revving bike it doesnt scream!
@@ethanrhanielle2474 I think the problem is you are an inexperienced rider who clearly has a lot to learn. The idea that you have to speed in order to stay safe on a highway Is a rookie attitude. It displays a lack of confidence and riding skill. Stuart is a retired bike cop and has made videos on this subject, You are an accident waiting to happen. As for the screaming thing, You clearly dont understand the origins of the term and dont understand modern engine dynamics so you have used it out of practical context. I dont think they are having trouble understanding you it is more that you dont understand your own argument.
What a seriously good “review”. Nobody has done anything like this and your introduction to this new model was superb.
A higher seat and midset pegs would make this bike, for me, nigh on perfect as a weekend runabout. Maybe this will be the basis of a 650 Classic.
Well thought out review as usual. A negative is why on earth did they put the USB in the side panel? Makes much more sense to have it under the left switch gear as on the meteor 350.
Maybe they're expecting people to take a passenger
@@chrispekel5709 yes but you couldn’t have a cable flapping around while your riding and I didn’t see any sort of slot to allow you to close the cover
@@michaelmurdock4607 HD could have made, but never did - because in the USA there is zero RON (Return on Investment) on making small bikes.
Its a hansom lookin bike.and realy shows where RE plan on goin in the bike market.
Good walkaround showing too stu. And agree with u on the fwd foot controls and rear brake taking a bit from the bike.
Imagine if Royal Enfield made a V-Twin engine.
The possibilities…
Since it's an Indian brand, might not head in that direction as they focus on mileage and overall pricing to keep it cost effective.
But since the last few years a lot of changes and advances have been made so maybe we might see one in the near future.
@@NandishParashar That is true, and I'm fine with milage over power
Quite a Nice Looking Bike Indeed
Thank you for such a great detailed video on this substantial bike. Very comprehensive and to the point!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for making this video.
One general thing that I think Yutube need to be told is that there is nowhere to post about.. I think it would be better for most people if the date the video was posted was claerly visible rather than an approximation of how long ago it was.
Hey Stu, thanks for the vid, a nice looker no doubt, completely unrelated I took my 2023 Goldwing DCT B in for it's 1st service today, 2 things happened after;
1/ I test rode an NT1100 DCT and hated it in comparison to the Wing.
Nice effort for a cruiser, good colour, some nice touches,
Not really my choice of styling but I like it ! I would like it even more if the 'pegs were mid-mounted.
It is a strange choice for their first USD forks but, given the quality of the rest of the RE offerings, I am confident they have got everything right. Well done RE 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the first look, Uncle Stu.
Die cast alloy or aluminum? This review definitely merits a subsribe. Looking forward to the subsequent review when you ride it
