I rode this trail for the first time in March 2024. Delightful! I want to ride the entire length eventually. The tunnels are creepy but not too long and the forests surrounding the trail are beautiful. In autumn when the trees turn but the weather is not too cold, this trail is gorgeous.
We hope to get back to this trail sometime soon and ride the whole thing. How is the trail condition now that they are long done with the cable laying project? Thanks for watching.
You both need to go to Trikes Recumbent. I love my Catrike Dumont will never go back to 2 wheel bikes. No balance problems, no neck, shoulder, wrist, lower back problems. Just sit back and enjoy your ride.
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately my problem isn't balance -- I keep grabbing the front brake harder than the back. That said, recumbent trikes do interest me. Just not sure I want to be that low to the ground. I'll have to go to my local ebike dealer and see if they have something I can try out. We appreciate your support.
Hi. Thanks for watching. I think my only little bit of "magic" related to finding the trailhead is a paid subscription to traillink. They are part of the Rails to Trails Conservancy -- a non-profit dedicated to rail-trail conversions. That app will give you GPS directions to where you think you want to start. The rest is good old hard work -- figuring out where to ride and then looking for a hotel nearby. We charge our bikes at night in our hotel room.

I would like to ride this trail at night - I love to hike and ride at night - when the entire length, including the tunnels, would be delightfully creepy. Anyone else out there enjoy creepy rides at night?
I’d want to have great headlights. When we rode it they were putting down cable and it was a bumpy mess. I hope now it’s a superhighway. I’m scared of the tunnels during the day, so I’m not sure how I’d feel at night (ha ha). Thanks for watching.
@@Adventuresonebikes Yes, I always have two headlights, one for a spare. Tunnels are creepy, but that's why I like them - and they are just as dark in the day as at night. I once rode a long dark tunnel and called out "whooooo" like a ghost just to be silly. A group of people at the opposite end said I scared the daylights out of them. Ha, ha! Randy seems to need a lot of beer!?# The website says that the trail is currently closed -- probably to get that cable finished. You probably want to check the status before you head in that direction.

You need to ride from clarksburg to west union the trail is better plus there is a great place to eat it's not in town but you can walk or ride your bike it's not far from the trail.

Looks like a really nice trail. I need to check this trail out at some point. I already rode 5K miles in Floridal, it's time to get out and explore other states trail systems. 😊
Thanks for watching. This trail was under major construction last October, so it should be in a lot better condition when that is completed -- which may be by now.
Hi. We didn't encounter any pavement on the section we rode, but it was under construction -- so I'm not sure if it is still stone-dust or something else. Another viewer commented it was quite nice now. Thanks for watching.
On this particular ride, we started in a small town that may have had a diner (I don't remember it was a couple of years ago). There aren't any trails we've written that have charging stations along the trail. That's why we upgraded our bikes so that we could go up to 90 miles on a charge. We felt too constricted by our old bikes that took us about 35.
This trail needs some serious love. It's overgrown and janky at best. This trail needs the attention that something like the Greenbrier River Trail got. It needs facilities and infrastructure. Putting capital into this trail will bring money to the towns along it's corridor. When old railroad localities see renewed interest, their tax base increases from tourism. This is an established economic fact. Look at the towns along the Great Allegheny Passage like Ohiopyle, Rockwood and Meyersdale.
It will be interesting to see what the trail is like when they are done with laying the cable. That seems like a perfect opportunity to rehab it! Thanks for your comment.
@@Adventuresonebikes They would do well to dig out the grass in a lot of sections and lay down some more crushed limestone. There’s a lot of regional companies they could employ to supply the material. Bringing business to localities is the whole point of Rails-To-Trails. Spread The Word.

That's because the camera is on the top of my helmet, and I have to take it off to video myself! They have started repairing this trail and resurfaced about 15 miles from Parkersburg. The condition is excellent in this area.
