Still a bit rough, but much improved. Rode trail out and back from Happy Valley trailhead to Bristol MM68 July 2023. Still a gravel bike trail, probably a 40 mm or wider tire will get the job done. Very impressive tunnels and dikes to build this rail bed through this very rugged topography.
Oh, you missed Davisville, my home town at milepost #3, but I'll forgive you. Lol. Besides, my town isn't to be found on any serious map. The Trail Association and State Park does fantastic work, and you did a great job too. Thanks. I didn't know there was work on a continuous trail to Pittsburgh! Wow!
Thank you Kevin. I really really want to do this ride. I was a student at Salem College (class of 81) now living in NE PA. I remember the Chessie System trains rolling through town all the time. When I passed through the area along Rt 50 around 1999 I couldn't believe the tracks were torn up. But happy to see it is a rail trail. I of course knew there were tunnels, one east of Salem but never imagined that there would be a possibility of riding a bicycle through it. I plan of doing a end to end ride in one day hopefully in May or June 2022 thanks for the video it has made me want to do this all the more!
Great video, Kevin! This trail is also a part of the coast to coast American Discovery Trail. I shared your video from the North Bend Rail Trail page with the American Discovery Trail page. We live near the NBRT outside West Union and work with the ADT as well.
Very enjoyable video. I would emphasize a little more about the East end not being bikable for most folks unless it's changed since June. (I wouldn't recommend it for less than 35 mm tires)
Did out and back in April , started at Happy Valley. 90.5 miles first day, camped at shelter west of West Union, it was a brutal day on trail, North Bend definitely needs some of the love Greenbrier River Trail gets! Always enjoy the effort you put into your videos!!
Very informative video. How far is North Bend State park from the fork in the road that you highlight at 10:31? Also, are there any other places to camp, that you are aware of, along or close to the trail? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I see you're closing in on 1K subs! I didn't know about this trail or the P2P plan. Interesting part about the Silver Run Tunnel being haunted. Train engineers would often see a ghost of a bride in a white dress on the side of the RR tracks. That would freak me out if she showed up during playback of one of your videos. lol.
Thank you Dennis!! I was thinking the same same thing if the ghost ended up in the video. This area is sure fortune to have great rail trail connections!
Thanks so much for posting this! I'm thinking of doing the ride through this month and was wondering what your total time was for the ride and your average mph with those trail conditions. I'm doing the same thing, drop off/pick up and trying to calculate time for the end point rendezvous.
Good job with the video

Yes, they improved it massively shortly after I rode it.

Thank you Thomas for the excellent information I sure hope you get to do it in 2022!
Hey Kevin. Thanks for taking us along. Adding to my future adventure list
Thank you Michael for watching! I hope you definitely head down to ride it.

Love the videos! How’s the Grail 7 holding up? Any further review after several adventures and racing it? Is it comfortable?

That's an awesome effort! It sure is rough. The Greenbrier RT is a spot I've been wanting to hit. Can't get enough of biking in WV.

I did a lot of stopping for filming. Took me around 5 hours and 30 minutes. 12 mph. The trail has been improved in a ton of sections since then.
