during the "forest scene" the filmmakers had the opportunity to make a genuinely good scene where the tree took off his lights, and we later saw the girl walking through the forest, and right when she thought she lost him the tree behind her in the background reached forward and lunged at her. that would have been genuinely scary and well put together scene

I found the one plot hole in this film: when the old lady created the killer tree, she just took him out of the box. She didn't decorate him. Where did he get the lights and the tinsel? Did he break into a Walmart and decorate himself? Yeah, I definitely think this may not have been real.

I'm not Jewish, but it was also hilarious to me that this movie just unintentionally implied that the Jewish summon demons.
The friend's costume is actually a Christmas cracker, they're a festive tradition here in the UK. They're basically little paper tubes that you pull with the person sat next to you during Christmas dinner until it splits apart. They go off with a bang and then you get a prize inside, usually a dumb small toy, a bad joke to read out, and a paper crown to wear. That's why the tree pulls her in half - it's just a stupid visual gag.

I have a fake Christmas tree that is a torture device. Bought it from a random site this year. When I opened it I managed to cut both my hands( deep cuts). The wires of the tree are 0,5 cm thick, they aren't covered in any protection. Worst of all their edges are sharp as knives. If a poor animal was to fall into this tree of mine it would end up impaled. So....there you have it. Tortures Christmas trees are real🤷🏻♀️
