My favorite pirate was Black Bart Roberts. He was literally captured by pirates ☠, was forced to join the crew because he was a navigator, then when the captain died he was voted in as captain. Then he said, oh fck it, a short and merry life we will have. Then went on to have a suicidal charge across the sea, and is BY FAR the most successful pirate in the Atlantic. He captured over 400 vessels, to put that into comparison, black beard captured 30. And he died straddling a cannon while the rest of his crew were drunk and afraid. Man was a fckn MAD LAD!
@@aliasfakename3159 He would've understood that wholeheartedly 😁 If I remember what I read, he was also a teetotaler and a religious captain who held regular Mass on his ship.
Zheng Yi Sao, also known as Shi Xianggu, Shek Yeung and Ching Shih, was a Chinese pirate leader active in the South China Sea from 1801 to 1810. She historically considered one if not the most successful 'pirate' in history. Of course, fellow historians argue over this but her life was truly epic and puts her up in the ranks of pirate history esp in the 19th century.
Not having her on this list, near the top if not ON TOP of this list is a crime. She commanded a fleet. Was wealthy, successful, and retired in peace and luxury.
Look up the USS Stein monster. In 1978, the ship was attacked by what's thought to be a giant squid that damaged the sonar dome and left multiple cuts in the coating, which contained large curved claws like giant squids have in their tentacles...but bigger than any yet discovered. My stepfather had recently graduated from the Naval Academy and was serving on the ship when the "monster" attacked!
@@randommf3549 Consensus seems to be either an unknown species of giant squid or one bigger than any found so far. They're crazy big, with current estimates ranging from 33-45 ft long, so the monster would be bigger than that!
@@PurooRoy 🤣 Other than sharks, which can blink both eyes, most fish don't since they lack eyelids and have no need to as the water cleans and protects their eyes. Marine mammals like whales, dolphins, pinnipeds including walruses (my favorite animal) do blink!
I guess he would be henry every? or that would be rocks - gathering 5 captains and their crews, waging the largest pirate battle, disappearing from the world.
Great video! The only thing i would say is that even though i am a proud Brit this is probably better described as a list of British pirates rather than all pirates as there are some very impressive international pirates across history.
what i love about this channel, is that any other, far inferior channel that would do a list like this would spend minutes droning out the intro with some meaningless monologue about pirates and their standing in pupular culture and hitting a "but did you know that some pirates are even stranger then what you might see in movies?" and go on a thing about the golden age of piracy "for context" and blah blah blah but this guy just gets right into it stright away. i love it.
9:48 It’s Mughal Empire. One of the richest Islamic empires that ruled India for centuries before the Brits and the ship belonged to the Emperor Aurangzeb
Two ships fought against Blackbeard lead by Maynard, Blackbeard lured them in straits and made one of them hit the sands and get stuck. He fought the other sloop where Maynard ordered most of his men to hide in the hull of the ship, so Blackbeard thought there were less men on board. Blackbeard boarded Maynard's ship with his crew and then Maynard's men got out of the hull, rushing into fight. It was some Scottish highlander and a mad lad who managed to cut down Blackbeard in the end, who allegedly had multiple bullets and cuts already. I just wanted to share this because in your animation they fight on the ground, and Blackbeard's last moments were so fucking epic I just feel you're really doing him no proper honours here.
yeah this guy is barely presenting as a human, he’s ChatGPT using a human to present these stories to us with shitty drawings using the sam o nella niche zero personality, skill, intelligence or passion. the dude really sucks
perfect video, maybe you can create a similar video that is focusing on some mediterranean pirates since they aren’t very visible for the popular culture. (I can also offer some books for source.)
When it comes to my thoughts on pirates, I think they're freaking tremendous! Sure, most of them have done a lot of reprehensible acts, but they did said actions in such astonishing ways. All the pirates you covered in this video, were remarkable for their own separate reasons. Regardless of how other people feel about them, I'll always find them cool! Because for the longest time now, I've been obsessed with pirates! ❤️🏴☠️❤️
Bro you should do another pirate video with pirate jean Lafete and ive looked him up before and you have to put french pirate with it his life is super interesting
It's fun to think that one of their ghosts could have been the one that made my aunt sick at the Pirate House in Savannah, Georgia. Mom's post graduation party, we go to this pirate themed restaurant that is apparently old and haunted and has old tunnels to the river that goes to sea that was used to shanghai people. Mom's telling the ghost stories, aunt CHALLENGES the ghosts because ghosts aren't real and if they were they'd show themselves. Mind you my mom and I had both seen the same ghost way prior and know they do in fact exist. My aunt got EXTREMELY sick, but none of the other 9 people that ate the same food. She still denies ghosts and refuses to explain that mysterious pirate lunch event.
