wonderful images and music. for a minute I thought it was Zero Slingsby in one of his more tranquil moments ...making his sax sound like a lonesome trumpet. great post

Spencer Place was a lovely street in the 50s and 60s.

I lived on that street in the 60s and it was noted for working girls even then

Ehup I used to play rugby for Oulton and we played against Garden Gate they had a very good side back then but couldnt beat us ..one of the best hand pumped Tetleys pubs in Leeds circa 1986

like looking at and listening to some ghosts. the photo of the inside of the garden gate with the towels on the pumps is beautiful, it looks like 1871 not 1971.

Great pictures thanks! I was born in Leek Street flats, AKA Alcatraz, in ‘72.
The music tho sounds like year 1 music and movement tho 😖😂

Best watched with the sound up patch a is as his name suggests a Philistine.A evocative and well considered selection very fond memories of the ungentrified arcades and the wee Willem sign outside Browns areal tobacconist in the days before the health fascists. The first signs however of pedestrianisation and multiculturalism are rearing their heads.

Anybody remember the silver dollar illegal night club on Spencer place in the early 90s.

I liked the pics but that dystopian music should be replaced with something a little less depressing. 1971 was a great time to be alive, even in Seacroft.

I often long for the old Leeds which does not say about the decaying pit I live in now.So much for multiculturalism.I dont see it has brought anything but trouble to the city and the country.
