Haven't played since Soul Calibur 2. Just picked this up the other night and was beyond shocked how Talim/Ivy/Kilik/Sung Mina all played basically the same exact way. Haven't played a 3d fighter in a while but I'm sure with a few more rounds of practice it'll come back again. Great tips, much appreciated.
@@SightlessSenshi I know this is probably dumb but if you're blind how can you comment?? I'm not trying to be rude I promise. But it's pretty cool you can still play games rock on😁

Just started playing it today. Truly underrated game, just hate the slippery stages. 9.5/10 I say. Love how each character has their own story and missions too
These are really good tips. Another thing that shouldn't be ignored are that GIs have 3 different types and animations depending on what attack you GI. If they get knocked on their butt after a GI you get a free launcher unless they reGI. If you blow their weapon back you can get a fast punish. If you knock their weapon to the side you only get frame advantage. The only thing that beats these guaranteed hits is a reGI

I'd say try to learn your characters range. I'm play seung mina atm. Her main style seems to be keeping distance, creating openings then wiff punishing. When someone gets to close I can use f+b as a panic move because it crushes highs.
really hope that these tips can help me in SC6 because i have been playing soul calibur since the 3rd game and i still barely win a match during online play and ive done thousands in the past and idk how many hours i spend in training. online players play absolutely flawless memorizing every little move i do and i dunno when i will actually stand a chance haha. i still enjoy SC even though i lose alot.
I don't understand why they put letters like k, and g instead of the ones on the playstation, really confusing when I am going to practice and trying out new moves....
I played online, and as soon as the round started, I got low hit, carried to the edge with an infinite, and rung out. Great to know that you can DI in this game. 😂
Good guide, thanks. Went online & did poorly since other people have played longer. Managed two wins for the first time yesterday after three weekends. Can never tell when I'm doing air control (no visual cue) & which direction to hold.
The CPU even in Very Hard isn't that difficult like in other SC games. The best way to get good is by taking these tips to heart while playing against another playing and then creating your own unique play style.
Derek from Vegas says you don't wanna fight me bro. When will you put up your review of the pork buns and the DQ peanut buster parfait?!? I heard one of those tastes like a blue granny from the 1940’s!
About soul charge being better than critical edge depends on the character and situation. For example, for Ivy, for example the super is way better, soul charge ia just better in few situations. And about rolling and taking your time also depends, for example, Ivy can hit you with 8 and 9BK a lot of times if you dont stand right away, and if you roll I can even combo you so in that case, when she hits you with her bow, the best option is to guard right away and not stay on the floor.
Eh, I mean it is a video for beginners so answering every question with "it depends" doesn't help much, haha. Better to give some them some rules of thumb, and then figure out when they should break them.
Yeah, you can't get good at the game without specifics, but it's easier to teach a general rule and let a player develop a basic understanding before they develop a deeper understanding.
@@AirLancer In this case I disagree with you. "Soul Charge is better than Critical Edge" is very misleading. It would have been better if he'd given an example and then said something like "Find out what your characters options are and learn what's best for your situation." And besides, this is the only tip that needed an "It depends", so it really would've been a more helpful tip if he'd gone that route as it's more of a 50/50 situation and not a general rule.
Great stuff. Is there a tutorial out there that also shows the Xbox buttons on the screen at the same time? It's so confusing. When people say things like "guard attack" ok that's good to know, but what buttons do I press to do that? What do I press to sidestep, etc.
Just back away and try to create some space, because if they're just attacking randomly, they'll throw out attacks that won't reach, and you can punish accordingly. There is also reversal edge, as well as Guard Impact. Once your learn what moves your opponent is mashing out, you can use these two tools to effectively make any attack they do worthless. This might stop the barrage of spam, and if it doesn't, you win. If it does, you can play Soul Calibur properly.
critical edge is not that bad of an option as you may think it is . it does more damage then your combo if you whiff punish (at least for some characters i have not tested every one) a lot of them have useful properties like nightmare armor zasalamel auto GI and asteroth unbreakable throws plus you cant combo in to soul charge (also cant whiff punish with them) so you risk spending a bar for nothing
i'm with a nice win record right now, but i always lose for people with hight pressure (i play Astaroth btw), it's still hard for me to see when i can do a reverse or parry, and all Astaroth moves are slow af (but one side step B it's enough to catch on)
For specific moves, you have to either try things a lot against another player or use Practice mode to understand what you can do and when against what character. The game has general rules, but to be a master, you have to learn the specifics of each and every character and how they interact. The game rewards you according to the time and effort you put into it.
@@concrete490 If you ever played Mitsurugi in SC3 you'd see how they nerfed his forward double verticle attack from SC4 onward by making it only accessible from his stance and waaaay slower.
