    Haven't played since Soul Calibur 2. Just picked this up the other night and was beyond shocked how Talim/Ivy/Kilik/Sung Mina all played basically the same exact way. Haven't played a 3d fighter in a while but I'm sure with a few more rounds of practice it'll come back again. Great tips, much appreciated.

    These are really good tips. Another thing that shouldn't be ignored are that GIs have 3 different types and animations depending on what attack you GI. If they get knocked on their butt after a GI you get a free launcher unless they reGI. If you blow their weapon back you can get a fast punish. If you knock their weapon to the side you only get frame advantage. The only thing that beats these guaranteed hits is a reGI

    About soul charge being better than critical edge depends on the character and situation. For example, for Ivy, for example the super is way better, soul charge ia just better in few situations. And about rolling and taking your time also depends, for example, Ivy can hit you with 8 and 9BK a lot of times if you dont stand right away, and if you roll I can even combo you so in that case, when she hits you with her bow, the best option is to guard right away and not stay on the floor.

    • @AirLancer
      @AirLancer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Eh, I mean it is a video for beginners so answering every question with "it depends" doesn't help much, haha. Better to give some them some rules of thumb, and then figure out when they should break them.

    • @Rd0Lg
      @Rd0Lg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you can't get good at the game without specifics, but it's easier to teach a general rule and let a player develop a basic understanding before they develop a deeper understanding.

    • @jtrounce6027
      @jtrounce6027 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AirLancer In this case I disagree with you. "Soul Charge is better than Critical Edge" is very misleading. It would have been better if he'd given an example and then said something like "Find out what your characters options are and learn what's best for your situation." And besides, this is the only tip that needed an "It depends", so it really would've been a more helpful tip if he'd gone that route as it's more of a 50/50 situation and not a general rule.

      Just back away and try to create some space, because if they're just attacking randomly, they'll throw out attacks that won't reach, and you can punish accordingly. There is also reversal edge, as well as Guard Impact. Once your learn what moves your opponent is mashing out, you can use these two tools to effectively make any attack they do worthless. This might stop the barrage of spam, and if it doesn't, you win. If it does, you can play Soul Calibur properly.

    • @Rd0Lg

      For specific moves, you have to either try things a lot against another player or use Practice mode to understand what you can do and when against what character. The game has general rules, but to be a master, you have to learn the specifics of each and every character and how they interact. The game rewards you according to the time and effort you put into it.

Certain characters, especially Xianghua, have easy access to combos that end with Critical Edge, so often times---in her case at the very least---Critical Edge is the better option.

      Soul Calibur has always been an easier game mechanically, but it's just as challenging as any other fighter fundementally. It's a fighting game after all so it's only as difficult as the opponents you are facing.

    I think the beginners guide to this game should solely focus on not getting enraged with this game and quiting

    I bought this for 2B, i hate how there's literally noone in casual matchmaking .. So i said fuck it and went ranked. Good god.
    I couldn't do anything in there, got downed by pro's with high ratings in less than 10 seconds.
    They pulled off all the combo's with ease, while i tried to do them, even the simplest ones, my controller for some reason would just register completely different inputs .. I also hate how they still show you the keyboard controls when you have a controller plugged in.

      I have no sympathy for 2Bs. But sounds like you've got some muscle memory to work on and fighter research.

    even if it takes a round or 2 to learn their playstyle
    sadly that's kind off get's me annoyed most of the time
    the kind of people that spam some moves you don't how to deal with... will end up taking 2 rounds and when you finally adapt and can finally counterattack he will just random mash things
    and now somehow with an unpredictable opponent i got to make the 0-2 be a 3-2
    and obviously they never rematch afterwords... every fighting game out there xD (i am quite bad in SC so this is where it pisses me off more xD)

    Is it me or the CPU is kinda weak, I'm a Sig main at the moment and can wreck normal arcade, and hard, I only lose once. I haven't tried very hard because of time but I feel the CPU is just easy. I don't think I'm that great of a player. Like I have been playing it since 3 but like idk.

      @ForceofNature99 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on the character you play. SC can get pretty technical if you play the trickier stance or JF based characters. Tekken is just more juggle heavy.

    • @chaldeang7687
      @chaldeang7687 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well no, not in higher level of play its not juggle based. Its all movement and pokes.

      @@ForceofNature99 Every time I see someone say that Tekken is juggle heavy then I know they have no idea what they're talking about.
