I looked for a good combo video for Xianghua yesterday, couldn't find one and went to sleep. I just woke up, and saw that Kayane of all people just posted a reallllly good one, good timing, thanks!.
This is my first Soul Calibur and I picked up Xianghua unintentionally in the single player mode. Thought her sword looked cool when customising my character and I fell in love with the play style. Found your guide doc for the character online and was blown away by how useful it was. This video looks like it’s gonna be an absolute gold mine. Cheers from a new fan.
Not sure if you know this but Kayane is actually one of the top SC players in the world, so there’s no one better to learn about Xian than from her (and if you already knew then this is a little redundant lol)
As a Xianghua main on and off since SoulCalibur 2, I found this _extremely_ helpful; a lot of her old moves from the old games are hidden behind her Soul Charge, and compared to other characters, she takes a LOT of skill to use; I had no idea how to play Siegfried but I could still pick him up and rank up to F4 without trying, same for Nightmare, those characters for me at least just 'Work' but Xianghua doesn't have the benefits they do, you have to work hard with her, and even then, you don't really have any gimmicks to go with. No offensive rushdown like Groh, keepaway range game like Ivy, powergame like Sieg or Night, counter game like Raph, even Maxi and Talim can apply more pressure at phone-booth range than she can, she's just plain hard to play xD Xianghua doesn't have any moves you can 'get lucky' with and score huge damage, you have to control the match, and learning these combos and mixups is how it's done. You win whenever you make your opponent hesitate, then her mixups and stance stuff will give them headaches XD I had no idea how to use her low throw save for on people who tried to crouch my high throw-- to think that you could force them into a crouching state and low throw them-- like that's next level play to me haha I fucking love this video. I needed this so badly You sir, are a Chai Family Hero. And have made a Subber out of me. Good luck in the tournies!
The most damaging combo she can do in this video does like 10 damage more than Nightmare 6B whit charge, she can be fun but compare to other characters she is not worthit imo. If you want a rewarding character that takes skill to play pick Ivy or if you want to turn you brain off, Siegfried vs Nightmare
This is very helpful tips on to uses xianghua because I have trouble on her playstyle but now I starting to understand on you uses her. Thank You Kayane.
The video we've been waiting for! I just picked up Xianghua for the first time over the last few days and I cant wait to try a few of these out! Thanks Kayane!
As someone who has always admired Xianghua's play style since SC1, but never really tried to play her much, now is the time, and this video helped immensely! I'm a Nightmare/Siegfried main since SC1, and I'm looking for a second/third character and now I got it!
Long time Xianghua fan here. Decided to make a combo guide myself. Xianghua has so much control, speed, fakes and safety. She's amazing :-) As are you, Kayane! Thank you for all your hard work.
I'm not even a Xianghua fan but this is absolutely amazing! Remind me to never get on your bad side lol. Also, I also wanted to say dear lord the thumbnail for this video is gorgeous!
Started this game off with Geralt thinking he'd be the shiz. After a while I realized just how much I hate him. He feels slow and I don't enjoy playing around with heavy gauge usage to actually have a chance at winning matches. I played around with a few characters, but didn't really find anything I loved. I eventually decided to pick up Xianghua. I absolutely love how aggressive and fluid she is. She's easily my favorite character that I've invested in and I finally began consistently winning matches. Thanks for the combo video. There were a few I still didn't know about before watching this.
Thanks for the guide! It is awesome! Just a minor sidenote, during the first section, the last combo indicates "while standing", but the first move is a "while rising", cheers!
Thank you, to be honest I don't really understand the difference between while standing and while rising lol. The translation in French is the same to me, but I will ask more about that to understand the differences.
Ah! you beat me to it! great video! I was in the middle of making a xianghua video and I saw this! I learned a lot! but I think I need to change some of my combos now, you seem to have found alot more damage than me in many situations >__
You can also low grab off of her 1 B+K. I think that's the command; I don't really have my button names memorized. Same button combo that does the low back kick when her back is turned. It doesn't always hit, but it often does. I think the whiffs may be caused by differences in character hit boxes. When it works, it's nice against verticals. Timing has to be spot on, though or the vertical will land.
I don't have the game yet and it'll be my first game in the series, but this is really making me consider trying Xianghua as a main, thanks for the great guide :)
In 0:32 seconds, how do you connect ->A+B (and the variation that allows the kick) after the first B that launchs the enemy in the air, before he hits the ground?
I remember playing Xianghua in Soul Calibur II. She was tons of fun then, and she looks even better now. Love the video. It's very informative and has tons of great tips. Would love to hear your thoughts about how she fairs against the rest of the cast. Great job.
Soul Calibur has been my favorite fighting game ever since the arcade. You can tell how much hard work they put into the fighting with the level of game play and they really do just concentrate on that. Xianghua has been and always will be my favorite character. I just love her fighting technique with the style of moves, and the trickery that throws off the opponent's game. They easily to get fooled by her moves. It keeps them guessing and in return reluctant to rush in and attack. My friends dislike her just because I play her all the time. Her best characteristic though is that she is a total hottie. It saddens me to her hear that this will be the last Soul Calibur to be made.
Hey @KayaneTV theres a notation thats wrong in the video. In the beginning of the soul charge section the combo reads "3B, 66B+K, K" but it should read "3B, 66B+K, B" I hope you see this! Great video tho It helped me out alot.
We X players need to find a way around reversal edge beyond lighting fast sidestepping reflexes. The Lethal Hit combo works....unless you're fighting Nightmare, Talim, or Raphael. Nightmare's sword is so big, unless he holds the RE for almost it's max time, X gets hit when stepping to the side for the slam. Talim and Raph - and maybe others (I don't know) - can cancel RE without striking. The A,A setup for the lethal gives them plenty of time to do so, block the key strike, and punish.
Yo Kayane thanks for the combo guide, I think I have a good grip on her neutral and the best tools in it but I didn't know optimized combos. I'm gonna lab these tonight!

Thanks for the vid Kayane, but there are quite a bit of moves I don't understand and how the input goes. Like for instance, I don't understand how the first mix up combo at 0:59 throws in that guard impact looking move to the low sword slash and kick. Trying the input as I see them on the screen and it isn't quite working for me. Tips anyone?
As it stands she REALLY has to outplay you because her damage is so low. I can fight a Nightmare and one missed read and I lose 1/3 of my health. She's a very deceptively difficult character that relies on some of the best gamesense in the game as most of her strength lies in mixups, interrupts with AA/BB, and auto-guard impacting into strings. Long story short, most Xianghua's arent to be feared, great ones you'll have a tough time touching ;-)
that's the kind of character she is though. quick, lots of hits and toys with you. kinda have to guess when she will hit and where.. meanwhile, she can hit you while evading
@@accel103 from what I've seen Talim has some pretty high damage output in this game. That one wind tunnel move takes out half a person's health! Tough to pull off against experienced players though of course
... I expected to see this video make an appearance soon... and I wasn't disappointed. ... very well presented. ... she's not my main, however... I am a Xianghua fan and she is apart of my initial line-up. ... these tips were very helpful. Any chance of other characters receiving similar treatment...?
... heh heh heh. Definitely was not expecting 2B so soon, but I certainly know I don't have to request one of these videos for HER... lol. ... I eagerly await your guidance, Kayane-sensei!
Great video. I wouldn’t advise anyone to train your brain to do the same combo for all opponents. Adapt to each player. Every style is different and underestimate no one. Be like water

Bonus Tricks: Tips to be More Awesome with Xianghua
On Back Turn, 2B+K Normal Hit: You can crouch throw!
BT 2B+K, 1A+G, BT B+K JF, 6K A
BT 2B+K, 3A+G
BT 2B+K, 1A+G, BT B+K JF, CE
Note: From a normal hit low, it's very powerful, and the CE doesn't have much damage reduction.
Of course, you can mix up with BT B+K since it's a mid
Use your BT B+K to finish the round if nessicary
Wow Thomas, this is fantastic, thank you for taking the time to do it !
@@Kayanetv252 feel free to add it to the description of the video if you'd like.
What is SXS ?
Thank you so much! It's very useful.
Thank you so much for this!
Excellent information, thank you!
Can somebody please explain to me why I can't for the life of me pull off the combo at 0:31? I just cannot catch the opponent mid-air with 6K A.
Playful Slice is the best move. Don't move up or down standing w/o B input.
Oh boy business is about to pick up in 1 months of practice. I might actually pick her up as a sub
Bravo Kayane 😘
Thank you so much Kayane! :)
Great tutorial!.Good explications of the combo. I loves Xianghua! Thanks.
I dont play xianghua, but this makes me terrified of her
As it stands she REALLY has to outplay you because her damage is so low.
@@aaronpelchat7699youre telling me, i play talim
that's the kind of character she is though. quick, lots of hits and toys with you. kinda have to guess when she will hit and where.. meanwhile, she can hit you while evading
@@accel103 from what I've seen Talim has some pretty high damage output in this game. That one wind tunnel move takes out half a person's health! Tough to pull off against experienced players though of course
Why? she does no damage lol
I didn't know that low throw combo was a real grab after guard breaks. Also pretty cool 6A+B extensions
Very nice!
Thank you!!! 💗
Can someone explain this guide to me?
Thanks for the vid Godyane.
... I expected to see this video make an appearance soon... and I wasn't disappointed.
... very well presented.
... she's not my main, however... I am a Xianghua fan and she is apart of my initial line-up.
... these tips were very helpful. Any chance of other characters receiving similar treatment...?
Now I can say 2B will have a special treatment ;) even better !
... heh heh heh. Definitely was not expecting 2B so soon, but I certainly know I don't have to request one of these videos for HER... lol.
... I eagerly await your guidance, Kayane-sensei!
Is the combo at 2:16 a true combo? The can easily do it in training but the AI on legendary difficulty always techs the grab part.
Did they patch the pop up at 0:34 with the kick? I can’t seem to do it.
Same
Just a quick correction to this awesome video.. at 3:49 its 66B+K, B
Yes I've got some notations wrong, convinced it was K but I always used B+K so it has both B and K haha
@@Kayanetv252 it's ok tbh.. it's easy to figure out.. but loved the video.. showed me SO MUCH new things and set ups
That SC4 song makes me feel so nostalgic.
I totally understand.
2b is in. you did it
Thank you, my queen.
Inputs🤔
Might try that. A few asking for them. Great vid as always👊
Elle est chaude Kayane ! ☺
rip SXS kick ragdoll. Forever will be missed.
Great video. I wouldn’t advise anyone to train your brain to do the same combo for all opponents. Adapt to each player. Every style is different and underestimate no one. Be like water
