Rebecca was a shining ray of sunshine in a very hopeless and bleak story. Her death changed nothing about the ending, barely anyone even reacted to it. She was just another body thrown in the Night City meatgrinder. I wish she had a happier ending but I guess she was always going to meet an unfortunate end
when i first saw her, i saw the combination of bright green and bright red eyes and then teal hair, and i thought it was so odd. but it really grew on me and i think she has one of the strongest desighns.
I actually agree with you 100%. The contradictions of her appearance and actions her character displayed was a vital component to the entire series. Also as you pointed out that scene at the end where she resigns herself to David's madness and self destructive behavior to save Lucy at any cost to himself, was, I believe, vital to setting the tone for the final ending. It was almost as bad seeing her die at the end as seeing David's demise if I had to be honest.
To put it bluntly CD project red owes studio trigger a massive debt since triggers refusal is what gave them more sales and an up take in users for there game because lets face it cyberpunk 2077 was desd in the water but since edgerunners its had a massive come back trigger saved there back side and they owe them hope they remember that for future moments there refusel to bend the knee and remove or edit characters is what made things so good for them CD projeckt red better be licking there feet for this
@@AboveWill same i hear its playable now to so thats a plus but way to many games coming out in the on coming months so im thinking about getting it when I get a ps5 or series x when I get my next loan havent decided yet
Before watching edgerunners I was expecting a lot more to go down in the end and I though Rebecca's character would become the second main lead in the show due to how much people talked about her. I thought Lucy would have been killed off half way through. It felt strange that neither of these things happened.
@Above Will well yes and no. See I dropped the show on ep6 at first. I did that because I was like ok so how is Rebecca supposed to be awesome. Trigger no doubt did amazing as always. Just the fighting was fast paced kind of wish sound design was a bit better so I could feel the impacts. But yes that expectation kind of did hurt the experience but the team not being affected by her brothers death was also a let down for me
I definitely need to re watch edgerunners because you've pulled out more information that I could have dreamed. I haven't really understood the hype around Rebecca up until this point. She seemed cool, but I just didn't really care.
Definitely worth a re-watch. The Night City aesthetic is so mesmerizing to me that I keep going back to clips just to get that vibe again. Appreciate the support as always Chris
Exactly. If she survives, literally nothing else changes about the ending. Felt cruel and disrespectful to such a great character. Happened in like 2 seconds and then never mentioned again like she was an NPC.
At least she cussed out the one stomping at her while shooting. She had a split second and saw Megatron and Bane's Lovechild's Feet come to stomp her :(
@@AboveWill The show really made it a point to show the flatlining or corpses but on a positive note, David and Rebecca planned Lucy's rescue but even though David might not have known it, Rebecca got what what she wanted and David did die with each other back to back. So in that story's afterlife, I'm sure Rebecca is like ha I got to him first, afterall her name was the last he called out to before he got beat down.
Other CDPR rejecting her design there were also initially opposed to her addition. But trigger stood by their character and said “she’s great” and lo and behold she’s best girl
Studio TRIGGER is a Japanese company. I spent time in Japan. Many full grown women in the country actually fits Rebecca's physical appearance. Dont know if it is food they eat or genetics or maybe both. Side note. If you do Nomad path and look at the map at the station at the begining you see Night City where Los Angeles is suppose to be. How you morally described Night City is how Los Angeles is today. Glad I moved from there a week ago.
"The loli must stay" is the best line to protect and keep a loli in the anime. Well played Trigger.
I still chuckle every time I envision the guy saying it with a straight face
Imagine if they had listened to that lady who wanted her removed for the shallow reason of her being a loli.
Rebecca and Falco were the best ride or die characters you could have
Most definitely :(
r.i.p becca she was deffo best girl of 2022
RIP Best Girl

I also felt the same way. Her personality combined with her design just fits right in.

Definitely. You could feel the beginning of the end. It was sad, but in a beautiful way.
Rebecca and Falco where the only ones that really didn't betray him
Chad Falco and Best Girl Rebecca
Lucy??? She didn't betray him she was protecting him from Arasaka Runners
@@jackwalters5506 in episode 2 she kinda betrayed him but later they well you know what I mean
SAY IT AGAIN! SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE FOLKS IN THE BACK!
REBECCA IS BEST GIRLLL

Interesting, do you think that having those expectations made the viewing experience better, worse or neutral?

Her death felt so uncessary they could have eaisly had David save her by using his sandevistan and pushed her out the way if he reacted fast enough

Best girl is obviously Kiwi
Haha to each their own!
why did she have to become a gumba

I hated her character. Come straight from an other bullshit anime, It has nothing to do with the cyberpunk universe and took me out of the story
Character was cringe. Y'all horn bags just don't know better. 🤣
