    I have always thought that a good Judo base could be deadly for a tough wrestler! Here in NC we had a 2X Champ and 3X finalist that did Judo and he would absolutely bully people at all levels with those throws. No one knew how to deal with it.

    I saw throws that MAY be taught in Judo...but are also taught in Wrestling. Kid looked good...the kids he was Wrestling did not.
    Good Wrestlers have to feel that, drop their hips and try to hand fight to get in better position.
    I have a cousin who was a Judo National Champ...10 years older than me, so never saw it. Tried Wrestling and quiet. The rest of us all Wrestled and out of the 10 cousins who got into it....we ended up with 24 State Titles and maybe 12 more times we stood on the podium at least.
    But Judo may teach ya that. Greco will do the same(or just any Wrestling for that matter).

      @knaufjudo8597  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Phil, I’m not sure what throw you are referring to but I can give you a quick rundown… the first throw :01 is harai goshi (sweeping hip throw).
      At :16 is tai otoshi (body drop).
      And at :29, it is my favorite! It’s called uchi mata (inner-thigh throw).
      There are some ashi waza (foot techniques) and some other stuff towards the end but this is a great example of how judo and wrestling can vary.
      To the average wrestler, they may all look like a “hip toss,” but to a judo guy, these are completely different throws, practiced thousands of times to get everything in the same/correct position… every time. This is why judo is so effective in wrestling.
      There is one more example I would like to point out… if you go back to my fav, the uchi mata, you’ll see how I pull his arm out just before he can post out of the throw. That is not by change… that is by thousands of reps.
      In the end, both sports are great and I greatly respect them both.
      Always remember to never underestimate your opponent regardless of their background and make sure you out rep your competition.
      Train hard and thanks for checking out my video.

      @@shahidabdoullakhanzorovr1564 no Tony - all of the technique is and was wrestling from long before judo was even a sport.
      I used to have judo players come down to the wrestling mats in my city gym 45 years ago - I would end up teaching them that virtually all judo moves were adapted from wrestling - the oldest martial art. Judo was invented from wrestling technique with a Gi thrown in. By the way the judo guys never faired well, even the so called black belts as they did not know how to fight us when we used body parts for throws, not clothing.

    • @kaen4299
      @kaen4299 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Charactermatters650 It's obvious how biased you are feeling to put Judo down so everyone should take what you say with a grain of salt anyway. Judo took most of his techniques, including this throw, from Japanese Jiu Jitsu, which then again is basically an umbrella term for a lot of different schools of Jiu Jitsu which some of them date back to 1130 and a very few even older. And what do you mean by ''we'' came first. Wrestling might be the oldest combat method but it was not inherent to American Wrestling of today and pretty much spread out all over the world since ancient times, certainly not originating from America though. The rules of todays American Wrestling are largely different as well.
      And any half-decent Judo black belt should handle himself quite well without his Gi or clothes. But your experience with them was 45 years ago, i honestly question the quality of Judo back then in America. And even then, it's far more likely to fight with clothes on than it is to fight naked or with skintight panties on.

    • @Charactermatters650
      @Charactermatters650 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@kaen4299 Your mistaken - the “we” is American Wrestling, which had several forms, not from America originally, of course - as I said wrestling is the oldest martial art. To understand the development of Judo by Kano you have to also understand Japanese history. At the time of Kano and his “Judo” the country (Japan) was undergoing a complete transformation - from Admiral Perry’s show of overwhelming military force in the mid 1800’s the very isolated Japan underwent an extreme transformation in the next 100 years. Around the time of Kano in the late 1800’s, Japanese people had by then become more militarized and much more aggressive as a society on whole. American books were very popular. Kano read and learned from books on western (US) wrestling in his development of Judo (the wrestling moves already existed that were then mirrored in Judo form). He talked about this himself! He and others, of course added to this new sport, but it’s basis was and is in the “wrestling forms” that have existed for many centuries - Judo was invented in the late 1800’s by Kano - how could he have NOT copied wrestling? Not trying to put Judo down, just keeping it real with facts. I like watching Judo, it is another interesting martial art. On bias, of course I have some bias as a long time wrestler and long time coach - that is just natural. But in the end, ALL of the moves this kid is doing ARE wrestling moves and I have taught them to wrestlers and have no Judo background - he may have come to them first for himself practicing Judo - but they came from wrestling first - that is the point I am making - and of course he is on a wrestling mat and he is wrestling, using moves that have been taught from before the time of Judo. I have learned much technique myself from Russians, Georgians and Iranians, so I do not feel “American” wrestling is best - we have “folkstyle” in America and I love it - we also have freestyle (not from the US originally) and I love that too. I also love Greco and Sambo. All different, and all great sports.

      @@shahidabdoullakhanzorovr1564 Judo's techniques are heavily derived from (or at the least, parallel with) wrestling since wrestling has existed starting something like 3,000 years before Judo was a fully realized concept. Maybe the wrestler here learned these moves in Judo, but they're also all standard wrestling throws and leg drag/picks. I use them on bjj guys all the time (when we're having fun, don't worry) and they can't stop it unless they have judo/wrestling/grappling background of course. Fun stuff.
