    Kid in blue is purposely (imo) backing up and going out of bounds time and time again. The only thing on his mind is that he’s not wanting to get thrown again. Zero attack, only backing up repeatedly. WEAK

  • @philhall5609
    @philhall5609 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Its called a hip toss. Your knee needs to touch the mat before the guy getting tossed does.

    • @knaufjudo8597
      @knaufjudo8597 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Phil, I’m not sure what throw you are referring to but I can give you a quick rundown… the first throw :01 is harai goshi (sweeping hip throw). At :16 is tai otoshi (body drop). And at :29, it is my favorite! It’s called uchi mata (inner-thigh throw). There are some ashi waza (foot techniques) and some other stuff towards the end but this is a great example of how judo and wrestling can vary. To the average wrestler, they may all look like a “hip toss,” but to a judo guy, these are completely different throws, practiced thousands of times to get everything in the same/correct position… every time. This is why judo is so effective in wrestling. There is one more example I would like to point out… if you go back to my fav, the uchi mata, you’ll see how I pull his arm out just before he can post out of the throw. That is not by change… that is by thousands of reps. In the end, both sports are great and I greatly respect them both. Always remember to never underestimate your opponent regardless of their background and make sure you out rep your competition. Train hard and thanks for checking out my video.

      @knaufjudo8597 he's talking about the first one. All those takedowns you mentioned came from wrestling, judo just gave it different names.

    • @millennialwatchman6703
      @millennialwatchman6703 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Knauf Judo I disagree. What makes Judo unique among grappling martial arts is if you score a clean takedown it counts as an automatic win. In wrestling, you just get points, and in BJJ it doesn't mean anything. The gi isn't what makes judo unique BJJ and Sambo are both done in gis.

    • @knaufjudo8597
      @knaufjudo8597 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@millennialwatchman6703 Judo gripping or Kumi-kata, is a huge part of the sport, especially at the higher levels. The better gripper had a huge advantage over someone less skilled and often decides the outcome. Yes, Judo is about the throwing but superior gripping is what sets is all up. Without gripping it certainly would not be that same sport.

    • @millennialwatchman6703
      @millennialwatchman6703 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Knauf Judo Wouldn't you say the same thing regarding BJJ? Are BJJ gi and no gi two totally different sports? So what if they are? If anything, I'd say that's all the more reason why Judo should have no gi. Because if someone attacks you on the street, unless they're wearing a jacket, which they probably won't be, you're going to have to use different tactics in order to throw them. In my opinion, that's what the purpose of martial arts should be: self-defence.

    • @knaufjudo8597
      @knaufjudo8597 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let’s take dribbling out of basketball or base running out of baseball…….. you’re making an entirely different sport by taking away a critical part or the sport. I you do not understand kumi-kata, you do not understand Judo.

    I always thought I'd put my kid into wrestling at a young age and then bjj after high school, but I am wromg! I'm actually thinking Judo when they are young like before middle school and then middle school to high school and BJJ is great after that much wrestling. 😅

    I did Judo as a pre-teen and did wrestling in high school. The other beginning wrestlers hated me. However, most wrestlers are insanely hard to throw, and Judo and wrestling rulesets are at odds. In Judo, one good throw and the match is over. In wrestling it's just a couple of points and our opponent often gets them back with the reversals. Thus, in wrestling, big throws are pointless although fun as wrestlers don't typically practice counters to them, don't breakfall, and often end up like blue... stunned and winded. Knowing wrestling helped in Judo. Stamina, body positioning, different variations of 'cheap' takedowns, strength, conditioning, etc. However, by 2000 a number of Judo rules changes made defensive wrestling stances and groundwork limited to the point wrestling was far less of an advantage. Still, at the club, guys with wrestling experience were extremely hard to setup for throws.
