Welcome to another Mortal Kombat 11! Now In today 'history of' breakdown and analysis I will be talking about non other then the rebellious Frost!
I hope you enjoy this video where I dive into her background! Frost was always an interesting idea and concept from the 3D era of the Mortal Kombat series, unfortunately due to the lack of a proper story mode It somewhat hindered her capability to be fleshed out as a character.
Its another reason as to why I was actually pleased to see her return In 11! Although she wasn't fully fleshed out properly It was still extremely nice to see her comeback with a pretty damn awesome redesign to boot!

I'll be honest, until the growth of Jacqui Briggs as a character in MK11, I was disappointed that Frost wasn't part of the young team as a representative of the Lin Kuei in MKX
That would’ve been a really good idea actually
another thing that would make it better, is that in the MKX prequel comics, frost and cassie tried to kill eachother in a *cage* match (it was an underground fight to the death)
so having her on the team would create some tension and conflict, certainly would have made it more interesting
She could have the greatest redemption arc in mortal kombat but not they’re not ready for that

I love how Frost even has a voice line, I think with cassie that acknowledges the debate if Forst is just a Sub-Zero clone. It goes something like,
"So, you're like the female Sub-Zero?"
"Our differences are more than just gender."
"Is there like a wiki or something?"
I like Frost mainly because she is a mixture of Sub-Zero (ice powers) and Scorpion (hotheaded vengeful nature). However, I'm not sure I like her as a villain hope she grows into more of anti-hero or if they are going to make her villain give a better reason than arrogance
I just realized...Frost and Takeda are just the same concepts for Subzero and Scorpion respectively. Cold yet arrogant for Frost, blades attached to burning rope yet calm. NRS had better include Takeda in the second Kombat Pack!
arrogance can be a powerful tool for the darkside. for one to change there ways they must meet something to change there mind. ether she would improve and learn or she will die.

most likely the reason why they made it just ahead is it going to rain go any other way to get a rebellious female "youth" into a ridiculous full body comic book code suits like all the other females. Along with doubling down on Sub-Zero being a failure as a father figure and as a master.

Her origins are not actually "vague" theyre given in the MKX prequel comic
Her father abandoned her at a young age and after killing her mother she lived on the streets and after fighting cassie cage in a underground fight to the death (due to plot reasons they didnt have to kill each other and got away) then subzero finally found her and took her in
her character is further developed in mk11, in her arcade ending she herself says that she sees everyone as having abandoned her, her family, raiden, subzero, kronika, etc
so no, her origins are not "vague"
and it is not out of the question that her mother may have been abusive
just because you know nothing about her does not mean their is nothing to know about her

i feel like she became her own unique character but i hate her attitude. but then again, i like characters like skarlet so i guess it's just a personal thing for me.
Verde Blaze frost and starlet talk so much shit but are so redundant, they easily could’ve been replaced by other characters
@@adrianaviles8860 Frost fit the role needed for the story mode for scorpion and sub zero to actually make amends and become the duo they became although Devorah should have been killed after she did what she did to Cage in the previous game, but somehow even though there were multiple people there she escapes time and time again, and every time she kills another fan favorite. As for Scarlet she and Tanya were wasted with the way they wrote them, almost as bad as Havok, Rieko, and Rain were. Tanya could have back stabbed Jade or Kitana and actually made into a decent traitor character with a little more writing and progression, while Scarlet could have been used as a double agent instead of Devorah being in the story as she has multiple dialogue interaction where she says she would betray Shao if he was hiding techniques from her, both Chi and Shang could have showed her the power of soul magic and used it as a way of having someone close to Shao to land a crippling blow on him and outworld while giving a better reason for someone siding with the netherealm and later Kronika while also better integrating in the comics as well, as she could have been the traitor there as well seeing just how far Reiko had fallen with his own blood magic being used against him and seeing that only using blood magic she could become just as used as him siding against Havok while at the same time being able to be there to switch the amulet with a fake while "helping" to fight Havok, remember in the original timeline Chi made a duplicate that could even fool Shinnok, this would align the stories up better and flesh out the characters making them more important and giving a decent showing from some of the characters.
That's my baby! Not the way I expected her to look, but so happy she is back :D

Frost seems like a clone of Bi-Han Sub-Zero having similar ego and impatience. Just make a sister for her and your Sub-Zero clone would be complete
Frost is not a bi-Han clone
Bi-Han has a ego because he IS one of the most powerful characters in the mythos and bi-Han is not impatient
Frost has a ego because she is cocky and hot headed
Bi-Han showed impatience during mythologies and his powers are proven to be less than that of Quai-Yang in terms of progression and potential the clan bolsters is ego then chastise him for when he rushes and makes mistakes

I actually really liked Frost and her new design, but see Wasted Potential for my full thoughts on her execution.

I really like Frost, and I do think she would make an excellent successor to Sub-Zero. However, unfortunately for her she suffers from "the bad guys always lose syndrome", and Kuai Liang is the good guy. Plus, Sub-Zero is extremely popular, and is not going to go anywhere any time soon. Thus, even though she can have character development, she can never truly escape his shadow.
I haven’t missed a single History Behind The Warrior video MK wise, still haven’t finished binge watching the others.

My mains in deadly alliance are scorpion johnny cage and shang tsung. I also like frost 2.

I think putting frost as the leader of the cyber initiative is the best thing they could have done for her character cause now she can truly be an individual and not just a sub zero clone.

I've personally have always liked Frost as a character. I think because her ambitions aren't always closely tied to the main plot she's not always included. But I was glad to see her return.😊
I do like the Cyber design just hate the whole removing her head and twisting her body as for the sub zero clone, imo with her being a cyborg I believe she broke away from that.
So, in one way, Frost would agree with the old Grandmaster's (Sektor's father) ways and accept the Cyber Initiative.
But would he have allowed females in the clan? Doubtful

I like Frost but her personality makes her hard to use for main storylines and I also like her new design. Now Frost has a body to match the amount of humanity she has.
She was a great character. Her stance chains and combos were so fluid and easy to mix match. Sux she went cyborg. Lol
You know what they say: Once you go cyborg, you never, uhm... have to poop again? I dunno, cyborgs and quick witty replies aren't really my thing.
I love the way they just made robots and retcon the lore in MK. Sektor snd Cyrax were called Ketchup abd Mustard in test builds of MK3.

I'm glad they got Frost more of a backstory and motivation and unique fighting style so people won't really call her female Sub-Zero anymore

I’ve always liked Frost’s personality and arrogance. In MK 11 she really was given a great voice and better characterization. I do wish she wasn’t cyberized. I don’t like her facial model either.

well her powers are not as advanced as subzero, and there are different intensities of ice, their is literally a type of ice (cant remember what its called) that is stronger then steel
To be honest I like Frost new role(replacing cyber sub-zero). It suite her well, specially for her overall character from old and new timeline...

Frost's new design and power's set her apart from Sub-Zero. She's unique unlike Ken & Ryu.

Frost is the poster character of “notice me senpai.”
Sub zero needs a new protege, or at the very least Frost needs a counterpart. Maybe a pyromancer that is cool, calm, and kind, and is maybe a ghost forced to inhabit a cybernetic body but would actually like one of her own.
When Frost was 1st introduced she was quickly labeled Female Sub-Zero. Her moves were just toned down version of Sub-Zero's and other than design she was pretty much a knock off Sub-Zero. Fast Forward to MKX Comics & MK11, with Frost getting an upgrade in Cybernetics she IMO has moved from Sub-Zero's shadow and has become more of her own character.
Now I like Frost, always hoped she'd make it MK games. But after the time travel reboot/start, I was hoping she would remain on the side of Good. Keeping the Protege of Sub-Zero thing going. I would have her have a chip on her shoulder. Quick to fight or say her peace but catch herself and even if she wasn't happy about it, humble herself. To me that would have shown her still being this cocky character but is still growing. And not give Sub-Zero the reputation of a horrible sensei lol

Huh. Well that answers that. For some reason I thought she was Sub - Zero's daughter
I mostly see Frost in MK11 as "this game's Cyber Sub-Zero", because in MK9 there was Cyber Sub-Zero and in MKX we got him again with Triborg. It almost feels like they were gonna add Cyber Sub-Zero again, but instead of either bringing Triborg back they just put Frost in since she was seen as a female Sub-Zero. I guess NRS killed two birds with one stone by not only bringing Frost back, but also bringing some of Cyber Sub-Zero elements with her just so she's a female Cyber Sub-Zero with new moves and a bit of pride mixed in.
Can we get videos about the DLC street fighter characters? I would love to see an update for Cody and Poison. Final Fight was one of my favs as a kid and I’m so happy with the stories being told about them in modern street fighter.
I do love frost she’s a interesting character but I feel like she had more potential to be kinda of a antihero or at least join the kombat kids from mortal kombat 10 but no they instead to make her a villain again in mortal kombat 11 because reasons which is a damn shame because It’s like sub zero qui Lang who’s also my all time favorite character in the mortal kombat universe said such wasted potential and I agree it’s wasted potential.

Her motivation for siding with cronica should have been perceived betrayal with her having two versions one full human and the other the cyborg maybe her being able to escape the facility before her individuality was taken with her
With Cronica showing up to act as Savior and wish granter. It would have been better if she was still ambitious and hot-headed but still initially loyal to her master to some point and the Lin kuei that she wanted to inherit / create.
