He would just hire a local band, like Steve Miller Band for Winterland. They'd practice awhile then perform. A lot of talent working together to make good music.
I think the 10 thumbs down was over the nail thing...which I thought was frickin hilarious...this particular performance I find very entertaining and funny to see Mark act like he is drunk off his ass trying to be funny...I seriously cant get enough of Mark or Dire Straits...I had a big time crush on him as a little girl...LOL..I still do

Even Illsley, who was normally pretty stoic at these concerts, couldn't help but join in on the fun. That's the power of Walk of Life, I guess. RIP Jack Sonni

This is by far my favourite version of this song. My father recorded this concert on VHS back when it first aired on RAGE. As a kid, I then recorded it onto cassette. It was forever burnt into my memory and for about 15 years I could never find it. Then my father reminded me where to find it. Just amazing!
