- A rare treat for local Burbank residents as an F/A-18 stopped by for a couple of days. I had an opportunity to speak with the Pilot who turned out to be extremely cool and informative! I hope you enjoy the incredible sound of this amazing aircraft!

I used to jog early next to the flight lines at Holloman. F-4’s, F-15’s, F-18’s. Man what a show. I love the smell of Jet-A in the morning.

He was flying back from a training mission and the plane needed to be back by that upcoming Sunday (2 days or so from when this was shot) From what he told me is that they are allowed to keep the airplane until it is time to bring it back and go wherever or do what ever they want. He decided to come down to KBUR and show some of his family members the airplane.

The F model is single seat the E is dual
The F/A-18E is the single seat. -18F and -18G are both 2-seaters.

You are right it’s better can do more with out the enormous maintenance hours the f14 had f14 was great but everything that’s great eventually will come to an end remember the f14 was a warplane not a private plane or toy

The pilot may be real comfortable in the aircraft but he sure looked like he was rushing and not following any checklists. During the APU start he was more interested in his harness than monitoring the APU start (ie RPM, Temperature, Air Pressure, Electrical Output) Ect. If he fly's like he starts his aircraft he's an accident in the making. If the pilot reads this I have one real important suggestion...SLOW DOWN, you'll live longer.

Lol moron. They could have but the 14 was a maintenance pig. Super Hornet was getting upgraded and they were developing a new version of the AIM-120 with more range so now the 18 can perform the 14's role. Only thing it lacks is range and speed but now it's getting an engine upgrade.
