I have a diy cabinet like this also and I have a super bright led light i got from harborfreight that just rests on the glass from the outside and I put a wiper on it that was a universal utv wiper kit i got from ebay, the arm and wiper will need modded though so it fights the glass and its powered by a $25 dc power supply i got from amazon. I also got some good thick rubber gloves off ebay. It sucks trying to use one of these and your hands are getting wet because of cheap gloves! These things made it so much better to use! I plan to put mine on wheels and make it so I can open it like a clam shell. I think 100-170 mesh glass bead works best all around for aluminum.
Like the first guy… only constructive criticism. When you put on thread tape you should wind it in direction that tape “gets tightened” by the part you are threading on. Also, primer and cement should be applied to both parts of glue fitting and then parts should be spun at least one full turn once together. Cement is designed to “melt” the PVC and then reharden it and this helps mold the pieces together. As for the heat shrink… for any situations where wet conditions are present you should use marine grade heat shrink. It is s bit more expensive but has a water tight sealant inside. But all in all great job.
Thanks. I learned that thread tape thing while i was doing it. This was the first time I had done any type of pvc work so I was winging it lol next time ill do that thanks for the tips.
That's exactly what I was thinking too every time he put that on except for I think two times that I noticed he put it on right but every other time he put it on the opposite way
If you want to make your glass last longer, you can put a sheet of glass from grocery store barcode scanner cover on the inside of the glass inside the cabinet. It should have a thin layer of diamond to resist scratching and wear. It's perfect for a blast cabinet.
Where the hay do you get scanner glass ??? I've asked all the glass shops in town and they don't have a clue about what it is and where to get it! I been running 1/4" 1 x 4 foot safety glass the last few years. But be nice if it lasted longer then 1 year
This is a great attempt, and I don't want to say anything bad about a talented guy like this, but I would warn against having so much 120V power around water without taking more effort to separate the 2. I'm concerned especially about the way the pump switch leads were only covered with a few layers of heat shrink (and probably not the adhesive kind). Heat shrink alone is not normally water resistant, and certainly crimping with pliers (not actual crimpers) will only last a few years before it dies, and may cause a fire when it does. Be careful out there. Great effort though.
I also taped it up and it never goes in the water or gets touched by water that being said it could definetly be better eventually when we get a bigger garage im going to remake the whole cabnet so its bigger and "cleaner" so no sketchy wires or anythin like that lol.
Nice work, the only feedback I have is that thing should be grounded and GFI instead of two to conductor speaker wire, you are dealing with water and up close in personal with the metal cabinet 🔌⚡️😳😬😵💫
if you are rebuilding dirtbikes or anything that has aluminium parts frequently it is 10000% worth it. if you are just doing one restoration project or just rebuilding your dirtbike, atv whatever and not going to do it a lot I would send it out to get blasted.
Good job 👍 I’m thinking of converting a part washing cabinet, so it does both. They are sealed already
Nice job. We shared this video on our homemade tool forum last week 😎
Awesome! Thank you very much!!

I thought that it was just my unhappy plumber brain complaining about the tape😂

@thieltech1 ask the stores who works on their scanners. They should have replacement glass. I've also seen it in industrial surplus shops.

@@B.C.Garage7 cement this shit. My new decal. Keep going bro. Your way smarter than your friends. Be somebody!
Put plug the pump and cabinet into a GFCI
Before your electrocute yourself or the neighbors 😂
Nice work!
Thanks!
FYI You applied the tef tape in the wrong direction.
ya ik it works either way but its better to do it the other way obv

yes could be much better and will make upgrades in the future but for now its safe enough lol
24:45 i think you will regret the direction you installed the plugs . If the pump is plugged up and the switch is not! 😮
yup it shocks the sh*t out of you if its plugged up and you touch the prongs on the plug lmao had to learn that lesson the hard way.
Why are you using the yellow tape is for gas line and you need to use the white one
I just used what I had didnt even know there was a difference.
Was it worth making? I like your set up and video
