      True. But I’d be picking up the HK for aesthetic (moreso nostalgic reasons). The Edifiers are okayish looking to me. Soundwise, the Edifiers are better. If it were the Edifier Luna Eclipse vs the HK, I’d choose the former this time around. For the same reason I could’t give a damn about KEF coaxial drivers even if they are touted as being ingeniously designed. There are other subjective criteria that may matter more to a person depending on the situation.

      you couldn't be more wrong. it's hard to tell in the video but they are plenty dynamic and that sub is really meant to be below your desk. the left and right channels are really for use with a computer and they really do sound amazing. I have a fair amount of experience with decent audio and while these won't work with a tv or something near field use with medium volume is where the clarity really shines. they are top notch.

    Hi there! Today we have another 2.0 vs 2.1 comparison, this time it is Edifier R1700BT and Harman Kardon SoundSticks III. Edifier is usually cheaper than Harman but it is a well regarded system, one of the better in its price range. How R1700BT fairs agains more expensive Harman?
    Compared to Edifier, Harman looks modern and fancy, but it also lacks the level of build quality and finish that more classical looking Edifier has. Edifier is all MDF build, very dense and solid speaker, while Harman is all plastic and far from solid. Harman also lack few key features Edifer has, namely Bluetooth connectivity, remote control ad tone controls. Big issue I have with Harman is the fact that, due to short signal cables, You have to keep the subwoofer on the desk. This means You need lots of sapce on Your desk, plus the sub vibrates tha desk while playing low notes. Edifier in real life takes up less desk space and has no issue with vibrations.
    Sounds quality is where Edifier also shows some advantages resulting from more classical form factor. Edifier's sound is more coherent and natural, even if a bit too bright in neutral tone settings and lacking in the lowest bass frequencies. Edifier has more balanced midrange compared to Harman, especially the low mids are lacking and hollow in SoundSticks. One advantage of Harman is the depth of bass response, but this depth comes at cost of boomy upper bass region and issues with integration between the subwoofer and satellites.
    Overall, If You look for speakers in this price range and are consdering these two than in my opinion Edifier is better choice, especially if You listen to lots of music. Harman, except for the fancy looks, has not much of a leverage over Edifier IMO. What do You think? Which one would You choose and why?

    • @abhishekrohera

    • @DSAUDIOreview
      @DSAUDIOreview  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If You are lloking for all round speakers for multimedia use (mix of movies, games and music) than I would suggest Edifier S350DB. If Your goal is to use Your speakers mostly for music listening, than I would go with studio monitors like Mackie MR524 or JBL 305p

    • @abhishekrohera
      @abhishekrohera 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm considering the edifier s350db but on the hand there is a option of edifier r1850db with polk audio 10inch sub which is like a little more 💵 than the s350db, then edifier r2000db is also there in that price bracket
      My used is mixed I will connect the speakers to TV and use it for games, music and movies
      Sorry for bothering you again and again this will be my first speaker investment and don't want it to be wrong

      I think both ways, S350DB or R1850DB plus Polk ,would give You expected results. My own 5 cents would be that, if You have smaller room, smaller than ca 25m2, than go with S350DB. Otherwise, they both will be solid investments. R2000DB will be somewhat lacking compared to those two, especially in the low bass.

    I was curious about the HK because i've found the kit for 40€ and it sparked my interest. At the studio I have a couple of Adam's monitor, I never listened to Edifier but I've always wanted an excuse to buy them :)
    The Edifier definitely sounds flatter, the HK are a bit more V shaped but they're not as bad as I thought. They seem to have a bit more room, maybe thanks to the crispier high. They also have more sub base but the Edifier fights back with a good base.
    Overall i think that both are a good set.
    Great comparison by the way, thanks for the upload!

    worst comparison I've ever seen. it's meant for a desk setup pal. put that sub below your desk and crank the speakers and you'll find unmatched clarity and some really great soundstage. You're really out here comparing full sized bookshelf's to a setup meant for a small desk setup. why. However make no mistake. The Harmon Kardons can boom and they will get you a noise complaint from the neighbors. Plenty strong and dynamic. Video doesn't show this at all. :(
