I'm a bass pleb and still got the Edifiers because sound quality is better at mids and highs, you get BT connection and they look great. You can also dial in some more bass if you need to and still connect a subwoofer later for some extra punch (BTs version). Still, if you like a separate subwoofer for the same base price, the Logitech might be a better budget choice.

wow. Adding the source track makes a huge difference. You get a much better sense of what the speakers are not reproducing accurately, and sometimes it seems like what they're not reproducing at all. Fabulous video. How are you recording the sound in the room?
Which one plays better on higher volumes? Edifier or Logitech? I do not worry about subwoofer as I have good floor speakers that give good low BASS. I want quadro speakers and I wonder if it will be better to get Edifier or Logitech and use subwoofer as just extra speaker. Edifier in this comparison have better highs. But can it play loud as Logitech?

Edifier sounds very clean and crystal.. Also balanced for those punchy bass songs.. The best way to listen Classical Music
I bought Edifier 1700BT based on some of previous hearing session on your channel. And I have to say that they sounds incredibly nice. "Nice" is the best word that describes 1700BT. Bass is very soft and strong... very nice to listen to. The 1700BT set sounds best between 30%-60% percent of volume power ( I have maxed Trebles and +40% of the Bass ). In real BT1700 sounds better that in your comparison (I think it depends also on the room shape ... My room is small, full of obstacles that disperse the sound).

Edifier doesn't need a sub. Those things have a really good and punchy bass. Unless you're using them outside or in an open space the bass is more than you need. I move mine from the living to my room and since my room is a small space I need to lower down the bass or it makes everything vibrating. Don't go with the impression than Logitech is better just because it has a sub. Edifier doesn't have a sub because this model doesn't need to. The bass can be so hard and really have a good punch. Also it has a really good definition and fidelity. I'd go with Edifier all the way, they're perfect as they are
Your saying that. But if you put a really decent sub with them you would disagree with your comment.
I was between these two and still got the Edifiers because sound quality is better on mids and highs, and you can still get a subwoofer on the BTs version if you feel you need it later on

My Chinese Edifier beg to differ. Vocal had a screen over it and not sounding as clear as i expected.

Happy owner of the Edifier R1700BT thanks to this site. BT is actually a nice extra. For the price, it seemed like the best of the bunch. Light EQ to up the mids and you're good to go. Very fully sounding.
What is the bass like? Thinking of buying the 1850db (1700bt with optical and subwoofer ports) with a Yamaha sub I have collecting dust since I upgraded my home theatre. Is the bass good for movies and games? Can you feel it in the ground?

for me is a comparison from non studio monitors so difficult. to feel music, maybe edifer, for fun and dance music logitech, for movie and gaming(needs good bass) logitech... edifer is easier to installation... i dont know, i dont like logitech mouse/keyboard(bad experience) but for gaming/movie is the bigger bass good and with a EQ i can set less bass and give a bit more high frequences and have a good and cheap setup, but logitech looks veary cheep... not easy!
Please lay out the audio track in a separate file without pressing TH-cam. We will download and build with mkvmerge. So it will be clearer that sounds better. Thank.

@@jenshuxley you are right, we aren't here to see exactly how these sound, more to see the comparison in the lows/mids/highs. For that you don't need super high quality. Also, Spotify is much higher quality than TH-cam unless you are playing on low-normal quality which I doubt many people do

I just returned my Z623, it's crap! The satellites sound like tinny phone speakers! It's only good for heavy bass and volume, and would drive my neighbors mad. I live in a one bedroom apartment with a lounge of 4 by 5 meters. I'm considering the R1700BT. It will be my only sound system, hooked up to the PC and TV. Will they be good enough for that?

Well there are some reasons to not buy logitech speakers. The Satelites are made of plastic and are 1 way speakers (no mid/tweeter setup). They can’t be sounding that great. I bought the RT1280DBs + Edifier T5 subwoofer, i’m sure it will do a great job

It sounds quite transparent, but is not really necessary, it is there more for the convinience of switching between the monitors on the fly. For R1280T I would not spend any extra on interface as there will be no audible improvemnt in sound quality. Just use Your headphone jack in Your laptop or PC and You will be fine

For this speakers go for XFI Extreme Gamer/Music good card for low price, if you have integrated sound card like alc 887/892 etc.
I change first alc 887 to audigy SE (huge difference), and next audigy se to xfi gamer (another level up of quality) on my r1600tIII.

google and you will find the answer. Parallel wiring with channels on the sub bridged looping back . The have diagrams on forums you can find through google.
Or u could just buy a r1850db with a dedicated subwoofer port...
J’ai le logitech et je constate qu’il n’est pas fait pour de la musique. Le bass enveloppe tout; les deux satellites ne suivent pas; Ils ont un médium très plat et des aigus indescriptibles. Du coup, pour écouter de la musique, je préfere la TDK trek A25.

slight win for the Z333/7 in the bass department, the small sub kicks well and goes deep enuff for its size and power.
but the R1700BT take it away in general overall soundquality and detail and the bass is not bad either, not exactly sub levels, but you can get more out of them as you can hear right now in this vid.

The Z623 has more volume, but the sound image becomes very spongy with bass-heavy music, so that the highs and mids of the small satellites are almost completely lost.
U can reduce the bass and increase the treble than it sounds really close to the edifier i mean in clearity
@@sizzy7549 impossible. Turning up the treble just means boosting a certain higher frequency. A whole chunk of frequency is missing!

@@sizzy7549 in no way shape or form the logitech's bass is high quality. Quantity yes, but 0 quality. Have you heard how good subs sound, even good budget subs? The speed, accuracy and low rumble are what is missing on the logitech's sub. That sub cant even play deep, it has an obnoxious 60hz boost that makes it sound more 'powerful' but in reality that is all it does. From bass to mids to highs, the logitech fails badly. Its only good at one thing, its cheap.

Why do i think that? Yes, the bass is loud, but it still has resolution, the notes are audible. The satellites do not have a recessed midrange - very good for home cinema, which is probably the main use of these speakers, after all, they are THX certified.. Each class has its own standards..
The edifier would be better with a sub. The Logitech isn't very hi-end sounding, at least, through my earbuds. In other words, I'd prefer the edifier with the addition of a sub.
Its the mids that are missing with the Logitechs and making the massive difference

there is no subwoofer out. maybe you can split out the base from a component that wouldn't be redundant with the active speaker? I have these and the bass is pretty good though, will shake the room a bit.

The Logitech's lack of tweeters is killing off all the detail, though at least the subwoofer gives it more bass volume bad sadly, the extension isn't enough for reasonably accurate audio reproduction, hence the boominess wihout the actual punch.
In short, it's a case of clarity detail with a lack of bass vs. more boomy bass with a lack of detail.
What not so many people know is that carefully designed full range speakers can be more accurate in detail than average 2 or 3 way systems. A good full range speaker really can sound incredibly clear. There is no crossover problem with full range speakers. The Z623 has those carefully designed full range speakers with also a huge magnet (common in all good full range speakers). I have the Z623 and continuously amazed how well they sound in such a small case. The detail is really great which explains why they are THX certified and I think is well deserved.
@@simondovinsky2734 while that may be true, you aren't getting the same exact details as say: Klipsch Promedia 2.1 THX. So I'd say they failed on the top end side of things because it's really difficult to supplement highs on par with a 2 way. I have both systems to say this confidently

Nope, there are custom connections on the logitech like a 15 pins VGA type connector between the satellite (right channel) and the subwoofer.
Much better Logitech Z623 has more harmony on the bass and it is not bad in the mids, for the highs you can work with the equalizer, ... while Edifier R1700BT you cannot work much on the bass with an equalizer !

Logitech, since you sound like you don't know anything about sound quality, you'll probably be able to appreciate the Logitech subwoofer thump but not so much the clarity of the edifier

They're great budget speakers but they definitely don't compare to proper Hi-Fi speakers.
I have Dali Zensor 1s myself and once you've heard some actual HiFi speakers like some KEF R3s or something you know that both of these just aren't Hi-Fi. Nothing arrogant about it.

I think my R101V sound better than any Logitech that were recommended honestly no offence though I really like their mouses but speaker no at the moment.
Is it just my ears that hears these Logitechs as far less accurate and less balanced in the low, mid and high sound spectrum compared to the Edifiers' performance next to each other?? This video made me realise that Logitech 2.1 speaker sets are simply student dorm value computer speakers..
The Z623 satellites sound muddy as fuck. I've been using them for over 2yrs. I also enjoy classical music. So the disappointing mids and highs are that much more noticable. My EQ settings are ridiculous just to get anywhere near decent sounding mids. The sub is ok but after awhile you notice its just boomy and not very accurate. Needless, to say I'm going to be upgrading very soon.

The Z623 are not suitable for classical music. However for modern music and movies they are great. Since I have the Z623 I can now hear how bad some productions are of several songs which I could not hear with ordinary speakers. the problem with logitech's is that after using them for over a year, you get a terrible coal whining high pitched noise from the subs when the unit is idling or in low volume. I ve used their most expensive speakers such as Z5500 and some budget ones; each and every one of them developed this very same annoying problem, so I m not buying any sound equipment from logitech. Yes they do sound really good in the beginning but , because they re built with such low quality, they wont last long...
logitech sound are more similar to the sound of source track. edifier is more high in treble and less in low.

The logitechs sound awful I bought them when the first came out and returned them the next say the bass is so muddy and drowns out the already lackluster highs and mids just plastic trash not well built like the edifires about six months or so afo i bout the edifire 1700bts and so far I'm impressed with the sound quality

Logitech z623 lack of treble. Because it dont have tweeter. Only full mid range.
My experience is that the Z623 have very good full range speakers up until about 14 kHz or so, for younger people this is maybe a bit too low but for a little bit older people high enough.
I'm in the 50s and very happy with the Z623. The bass is really great, well balanced and with good connection to the satellite speakers.

I haven't read any comments yet. Listening with a nice set of headphones, the Logitech sound much better to me. They're far closer to the source track. I find the high end to be present and accurate, noting the hi-hat in particular. I find the edifier to be missing low end almost entirely in some tracks and it's too shrill and tinny in the highs.

Logitech je delanej na moderni hudbu s bassama, proto ma silny woofer a ostatni uz neni nic moc. Ale pri dobry zdroji zvuku umi i Logitech (Tang Band) zahrat slusne za ty prachy.
Kazdopadne Woofer patri na zem, takhle to vic zkresluje.
Nelze hodnotit kvalitu zvuku, kdyz mate "vyskovy repro" vedle wooferu.
Much more dynamic in the Logitech especially in the low end. Although the Edifier has more clarity the Logitech is more enjoyable .
The difference on bass quality is huge between those two. Edifier is way better. Sadly the driver cant reach too low frequences due its size.

logitechs bass tone is good but unnecessarily loud, satellite speakers need tweeter. edifiers sound not good but average. both speakers sounds are not realistic. logitech is good for movies, edifier is good for pc games. both are not for music.

@@Tamilpasanga664 Music is a matter of taste, hearing it right and how you want to hear it can be different. I think yamaha's reference speakers are good to hear correctly. but if it doesn't match your taste right, the speaker that gives you the best sound is the best choice for you. I use my own designed and manufactured speakers, the subwoofer part is similar to aquistimas and/or logitech z5400 because for my taste this type of closed subwoofer can give softer and more saturated bass sounds. I prefer horn tweeter at peak frequencies and it should not be particularly small. I used 3 separate speakers for clarity at mid-range frequencies and one mid-bass speaker for 150-500 hz. I cannot give a recommendation as a ready-made system, you should go and listen to the ready-made systems.
Owned both. Hated the z623. Treble is dead and there's too much bass. 1700BT is way better and too good for it's price. 1700BT is _slightly_ lacking mids but other than that it's really excellent for it's price point.
