It's so important to maintain your dignity and self-respect in these situations. If a guy is pulling away, acting distant, is always hot/cold, or is clearly taking advantage of you, you NEED to pull back and turn into an ice princess. Be high value and never settle for anything less than you want, need, and deserve in a relationship. We need to teach people how we expect to be treated in any relationship. These types of guys need to understand that this sort of behavior is simply unacceptable and will not be tolerated. If you go cold and he doesn't come running back and realize he screwed up, then he did you a huge favor by weeding himself out and saving you time, energy, and emotion.

I've learned to do this recently and will ALWAYS apply it to any potential relationship in future. I think many men, no matter what their native attachment style is, have a touch of Avoidant in them.
Acting warm and caring (aka an anxious response that I've mistakenly done in the past) is the female equivalent of "Nice guys finish last." Maybe the phrase should be: "Lovey dovey gals get jilted"?
Women often look down on a "nice guy" as being wimpish and unappealing. Similarly, if a woman rushes towards a man who is actively pulling away, he's going to run farther! Moving in too close to him is exactly what he DOESN'T want.
Instead, you have to back away and become distant and neutral yourself. If he has genuine feelings for you, he will calm down and eventually move towards you. Stay rooted where you are, or even continue go move slightly away so that he chases you!
Men are more comfortable chasing than being chased. They're the ones with the hunter instinct (masculine energy).
And for us women, isn't it much better to be pursued by someone we like rather than we chasing them and they losing interest?
