ronindebeatrice agreed. I like the modern yet classic style of their cars. They have a modern industrial look while keeping classic lines. I'd love a car built by them. Just not a Cadillac.

I have a 49 caddy restomod with an LSA motor and Art Morrison chassis etc. 1948 had the horse shoe gauge cluster (last year), 1949 was the first year of the V8 overhead cam engine and the caddy line won the motor trend car of the year award. My caddy is a survivor wearing it's original black lacquer paint.

+Jerque in the Merc -- Yes! I don't usually read the comments but I was going nuts waiting for the idiot cameraman to slide over to the car and show the engine bay. Instead he, for about 10 seconds, moved over there and then showed Jay's face and ignored the engine. I had to read here to see if it was only me that was driven nuts by this.

I had a two toned purple 1948 caddy when I live din L.A. in the 80s. Loved the car except when I had to try and stop. Love me some caddy cars. I had a 68 rag top and a 63 Fleetwood limo. The Fleetwood had features you did not see on other cards for a decade. Thanks Jay. Great to see what people are doing today in restoration and modification.

The man had the money, a dream, and the right men to fulfill it for him. This is not a true restore job. It is a "let's create something new with a touch of the old" job. Hey Jay! As I seem to remember, the '48 Cadillac (I was born in January of '46) was the last of the flathead V-8 Caddys. in 1949, the first "Kettering" OHV V-8's for Caddy and Olds hit the street.
As for this car, WOW! I'm impressed. What a great job Ring Brothers did! How very innovative. Their electronics work is very impressive on this car. They had a lot of issues to overcome...and did.

The Ring Brothers always amaze me with their attention to detail. They seem to take extreme pleasure in fooling the eye by substituting a new material for an older version but then disguising it so it's not noticeable, or perfectly recreating an old materials shape but leaving it exposed as the new choice. Just amazing in every way, as always.

Note to the director, pan view of what the talent is discussing, not the talent. I seen this car at siema and it was a crowd collector with the hood open, and nobody even noticed it when the hood was closed! Yes I know that there isn't anything special about the motor but when you stuff it down a 48 then it is a thing of beauty

It's easy to be critical when you aren't the one who put wrench to bolt. It is amazing what they've built here and there are many little features and thoughts put into this car. The quality of the work, the tremendous amount of knowledge needed to make all the changes, and the sheer labor of such a build are worthy of appreciation. I've always tried to find the "fun" in whatever the car is and, even if it's something that is completely out of my field of interest, I try to appreciate the passion of the person who put it together.
Jay hit the nail on the head when he said that there would be people who wouldn't get this build. This isn't the Miata, with an LS swap, from the pop up shop down the street. This is what 99% of the custom builders aspire to create and what 1% actually do.

If somebody gifted this thing to me, I'd sell it immediately. I don't oppose rest-o-moding a car, and I have some ideas on which cars I'd have rest-o-moded if I had money to burn, but it wouldn't be on the extreme side. I'm glad that there are people who know how to do this kind of building, and that they can make money doing it. I am in awe that they can do such a high quality build.

Really like the size and Style of the CTS BUT THIS is incredible, can not find enough words to say how great this car looks and how very Jealous I am over this! LOL
I've driven a few ATS's and compared to CTS there is NO COMPARISON, ATS is too small! I can not reach across to the passenger door handle on my CTS without crawling over the console, the ATS I hardly have to bend to reach the door handle on it, it is that much more narrow, CRAMPED! • @mikewysko2268

The 1948 Cadillac body is pre carbon. The body is from the era of big heavy bodies & chrome. The black paint takes away some of the zing & pazazz of the late 40's body style IMO. As long as the owner likes it that's all that matters. The practical daily benefits of updated engine & interior are well worth the price. Many hours of 'how to' and hard work in that car. Well done!!

  • @dpr5105

Jay, the horse shoe dash you were talking about was '48 only. Great job of combining the old and new, but IMHO the styling decisions- grille, headlamps, rear fins and skirts did nothing to help the look of the car. Appears the ringbrothers are great builders, but they need a automotive designer.

I enjoy keeping that art alive with modern technology that improves on the safety and performance of the vehicle but still has the beauty and styling from the past. Beautifully done.
