As a kid, this scene felt 30 minutes long. The suspense was almost too much to bear.
Right!
@@whyyoutrippindeebo3514🫢.... 🦖🦖
You can't beat the original. There are so many suspenseful scenes in this film.
That's right. No wonder many scenes in this movie have great parodies.
The Big One > Indominus/Indoraptor/Giganatosaurus
I watched this movie 4 days in a row at one point. I think Ive seen this film about 50+ times, this clip about 60 times. I love the raptors!
That's because most of them were practical.
If you think these are great, you should try reading the books.
This movie is 30 years old and the special effects are still amazing.
I’m glad they went practical for so much of it.
No they arent
@@Adderallistheonlywaythe cgi ones arent the pratical+cgi hold up and beat every single jurassic world movie dinosaur in cgi
Happy 30th anniversary
@@staticklingon2182 me too
Spielberg's pacing and direction is just soo much better than the new movies.
Especially in design. The new dinos look so damn tacky and cartoonish.
The new ones are directed like a Marvel movie. Completely devoid of stakes or suspense.
Absolutely. You notice how it's just two kids, and two raptors, in a kitchen? There's no exploding cars or flamboyant set pieces: It's simple and tense
One thing I like doing with this scene in particular is play CGI or practical effects. Half of what keeps the special effects looking so good is they mix between them so that your eye is tricked. Most of the time when you just see claws/legs or the head its a puppet or a special effects artist in fake dino legs, when you see most of the velociraptor body, like when the second raptor enter the room, its CG. The T-rex attack in the rain is also another great scene for this.
exactly! The new ones feel like a parody of the originals and like there aren't any stakes for the main characters
What’s so scary about this scene is the Raptors knew the kids were in there already. They just wanted to play a game
Yeh right. You spoke to the raptor actors ? Lol
GAME?!??? ONE OF THE RAPTORS TRIED TO RUN INTO LEX- THIS AINT TAG
Yep,they just wanted to have fun. 😂😂
Yeah. A game of cat and mouse.
But the Boys were smarter and cheated them with their own game😋
This single scene is Way way way better than the whole Jurassic world trilogy combined. Goes to show you how much of a genius Spielberg is and props to the visual effects team as well. They revolutionized and pushed the boundaries of what cgi could do. This movie is 30 years old and looks and feels genuinely masterful. Looks so much more real and menacing. !’nnn
This is back when Velociraptors used to be so terrifying and not treated as pets.

@@dereklopez9060 Yeah it was a bad idea for Jurassic World to make a character out of a raptor. Even has a name, Blue. The whole point of this is that they're apex predators from an era you can't control. They're smart but they're still ferocious animals. It's what makes them a great movie monster. They did this with Predator as well. In AVP all of a sudden there's a good guy predator to be the hero of the movie. You can't do that. It makes the thing you're supposed to be afraid of tame. I mean from the very start of the movie it's shown how these things have to be treated. They're moving one into a heavily secured pen with 40 guys with machine guns.
@@GLARebelit’s ain’t the 90s anymore. This was “new” for the time in Park. Obviously in the World trilogy humans will have figured out nearly everything about dinosaurs and get creative with them. Like did u really think we wouldn’t have found a way to weaponize them like in fallen kingdom and dominion?
Stan Winston
Steve “Spaz” Williams
Phil Tippet
Denis Murren
All played a huge role in why the dinosaurs look and move so good
Poor Timmy went through the damn ringer in this movie 😂 the electric fence, the car in the tree etc. boy had it way worse than his sister lol
Still wondering how he survived being electrocuted from that gate
@@minidanielx5208 Voltages are high but the amps are low, they did not want to kill the dinosaurs with the fence just scare them away.
@@AntonLennikovthat’s how the dinosaurs would’ve escaped anyway, it was just a matter of time with those fences.
Well two things: 1) he wasn't grounded so he shouldn't have been electrocuted. 2) you don't get thrown back like that when you get electrocuted.
Yeah! 😂
This felt the most grounded. They were otherworldly predators, monsters. The danger felt so real. And the scene at 1:13 with their claws.. insane how much fear and hopelessness that captures. You'd truly feel like prey. Favorite shot of the movie
Why they doing like that with their claws ?
@@kalyanisukapati5332'd always assumed it was body language for communication. Like "Hold up. I hear an echo of my walk or crawling. Is something really in here with us? I mean i smell a faint mamalliam spoor." Then double taps claw to confirm if it's just that. An echo.
Dinosaurs aren't otherworldly
@@NateS917 oh so tell me, is this how dinosaurs acted? Were they this monstrous and less animal-like? Because the odds this interpretation is spot on, is extremely unlikely. This is hollywood. They made them more "monster" for a reason. Why did I have to spell this out
@@brocklee9202 why are you so mad 💀 dinosaurs aren't otherworldly. It's that simple
Lex's knocking-out one raptor with her own reflection was a stroke of childhood genius!
I bet The Big One was pissed off that a *KID* outsmarted her.
It would have been funny if she did that unintentionally
@ksoundkaiju9256 honestly I think it was entirely unintentional. Why else would she be trying to close the door? If she wanted to lure the raptor she would have just left it open
At 0:21 you can see a hand come out and pull the raptor down a bit by the tail end. I think it’s funny, and I still love this movie.
yea we.... we know.
I like to think that’s just the other raptor :P
@@sicknado I didn’t know
I literally cannot unsee it every time I watch the movie
That's just the raptor's trainer petting the animal to keep it calm "easy, boy, easy...now do as we did before during rehearsals...c'mon...". They removed his voice in post. Movie magic.
Also the dinosaur grinning at 3:27 is better than any evil grin i've ever seen.
They said those raptors were suppose to be like super intelligent, so I always took that grin as if she was saying to Lex (and Tim), “okay, kudos to u. U outsmarted us. Point for u. That’s the only time you’ll do it. So for that I’m giving u a head start.”
@@greenlee7smythe I always took it as "I usually kill fast, and only enjoy the eating. But for you two, I'll make an exception."
“You’re lucky that was only a game, but luck is for suckers, *play time is over kids.”*
Fantastic
That isn't a grin. It's a snarl and spotting it's prey. Dont pull that jurassic world dogshit in this. These are wild animals, not villains.
Such an amazing scene. Truly old but gold. I've loved this movie so much ever since I was a kid and its still one of the best movies out there
I've watched this movie with two generations of my younger cousins and nephews, at the same age as I was when I first watched it as a kid, and let me tell you the awe, the utter joy remains.
@@TititoDeBologay Thats really great to have a nice family moment watching a good movie
@@JustDark731 Old??!?
@@playfulpanthress Well yes a movie from exactly 30 years ago is pretty old
@@JustDark731 Or it just be a great age. One day, kid, if you're lucky, someone will say that about your movies.
What makes this scene scarier, is that most of the scenes in the kitchen scene are animatronics. That means that they are traveling through the kitchen the actors could physicaly see the raptors and have to interact with them which is horrifying
To be fair most of the time the animatronics weren't, like, full suits. Like if there's a close shot of their claws or feet its mostly just a half suit and the kids could probably see the dude moving its feet around. Also a lot of this scene is in cgi

2:24 that raptor growl in particular was my favourite one, sounds so crisp 😅
Thats the best one
These 3 minutes and a half are way better than 80% of movies, nowadays.
From VHS to DVD and now even 4K and blue Ray this movie has and always will be absolutely amazing..😃❤️
I like the collection's edition DVD.
3:08 that’s one strong kid LMAO 🤣
I hate how people underestimate the strength of kids. Lots of kids are pretty damn strong.
Adrenaline I guess.
Nah, the melted ice in the freezer did not give the raptor stable ground to push through...
Adrenaline rush, your brain senses danger and you do everything to survive
Them CGI, VFX and practical FX still holds, very much so.
Surprisingly.. I've seen newer movies that look garbage 🤷
Have to agree all the dinos cgis from this movie are hard to beat
@@carlhewitt7460 because they’re barely CGI, there’s like 6 minutes of CGI in the entire film. practical effects and solid camera trickery will always outlast CGI
Everyrime I rewatch the part where they lock it in that freezer i still say it in my head to this day....Frozen Raptor Burgers😭
Raptor burger! 😂😂😂
Raptor burger! 😂😂😂😂
I miss the days of Jurassic Park having actually terrifying Velociraptors
Same I do like Blue in Jurassic World but I wanna go back to the good old days when these guys were actually scary
This scene was so suspenseful and terrifying, especially since it started my love for velociraptors.
"6 foot turkeys?" 🦃
That's not a velpciraptor. It's too big to be one. Rather, it's a close relative.
My 4yrold son and I have been playing Lego, Jurassic world. We played the kitchen scene on the game, so I showed him this... He watched it through his fingers 🤣 I was so proud lol
you my friend are an amazing father
or mother idk
First, I watched the film back in 2011 when I was 6, then 4 years later, I would be in 5th grade and JW came out, along with the game.
Everything about this movie is perfection: soundtrack, stunning cgi, the suspense. My favorite Spielberg film and one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time
I like that Spielberg make them so tall, makes them way more scary 😅
3:11 her run 😂
I always laugh at that scene too lol
The definition of "powering through it" hahahahaha
Her crawl at 2:40 always makes me laugh too it just doesn't look right lol
😂😂😂 love it
Lex: Imma run with my arms out for some goddamn reason 😂😂😂
I love the short scene starting at 1:52. Shows the power and determination these two Raptors have in finding the kids.
Raptors in this film are 100 times more scary than the Disney friendly Raptors in Jurassic World.
Yes we know
That noise they make once they jumped on the counter so sinister
2:50 Is no one else going to talk about how masterful this scene is? tim running while a lab monster goes after him even though his foot is bad?
No,because it's been talked about for 30 years.
I’m really just appreciating the bravery he showed doing this.
Raptor: I feel a bit unbalanced
Worker: 0:20
Raptor: Ah thank you human
Lol
Iconic scene. Simply iconic. Doesn't get any better than this.
I can't believe I never noticed the hand on the raptor's tail when he stands in the open door (0:21). I have seen the movie so many times...
Woah! That's a decent blooper!
Still... The first JP film is by far the best of all of them!
The jurassic park velociraptors are the females and the jurassic park 2: lost world are the males btw
The vocalizations they made were something else
Ahead of its time
I love the sound design in this movie
Me too but the sound they used for the AWESOME DINOSAURS Velociraptors. (I love Jurassic park) but they used mating turtles for the velociraptor sounds. I STILL LOVE JURASSIC PARK DINOSAURS AND VELOCIRAPTORS
This part still gives me goosebumps to this day
If My Childhood Ever Had A Movie Scene That Held The Most Tension, It'd Be This One.Over 29 Years Later, Because Of This Scene I Still Occasionally Have A Nightmare About Velociraptors Trying To Kill Me.
Same
I used to have nightmares about the velociraptors coming Into my bedroom and closet
2:49
Gotta admit for Timmy, that was pretty brave to run out into the open with these ancient predators, along with a limp from being electrocuted, respect.
You're right - respect to you for pointing that out. Peace
You what makes this movie better then the Jurassic world movies? The lighting feels more natural and warm. It actually make feel like the characters are there.
So beautiful executed scenes in movies.. Especially this one where we see A Sister is always there to help their brother..
Spielberg is the master of suspense scenes
Why do early 90s special effects look better than today's special effects?
They don't. It's just nostalgia goggles.
@@Amp661 no they actually do
Because they mixed practical with cgi effects to try and make it look real. Still some great directors out there like George Miller who care enough to do both but it does seem like the big franchises like jurassic world and star wars dont want good directors who will spend alot of money making something amazing since the IP is already popular and they will make money regardless.
Love the hand that gently steadies her out
the toe tap from the raptor made my dad laugh and that will always keep it in my memory!
it does add a sense of sass to the raptor haha
0:20 You can see a person's hand hold its tail steady for balance. I can't unsee it now. It's so noticable.
The one thing that bugs me about Jurassic World is that they made the raptors "friendly", when in Jurassic Park they are vile, incredibly smart, and almost evil in a way.
Well there are some Theorys around this, one of the Theorys that they are so aggressiv is the that The Big One was turning into a Male or that the other Raptors turned into Males because it is confirmed that the Broken Eggs that we see in the Movie that Ellen Grant is finding are Raptor Eggs. It would make Sense that they are so aggressiv, also they are Not good Treated long before they are visiting the Island, we See that they are more treated like Monsters and putting them into such a small Cage is not good for them, i mean The Big One basically killed every Raptor in this Cage except Two. One other Thing and this is something i really like what they made in Jurassic World, they created the Indominus Rex just like the Raptors from Jurassic Park 1 and treated both like Monsters or just something that helps them get even more Money, thats one Thing why they tried to hold the Raptors diffrent this Time But the Indominus Rex Was something unknown, a Hybrid and a uncontrolled Abomination that knows nothing But Pain, Suffering and the Worst Part it doesnt know what she is or what her Part in the Food Chain is and thats something i really liked on Jurassic World how they Mirrored this exact same Mistake they did with the First Park
2:31 is Wow! The squeal is amazing!
One of the best scenes ever in history of film making.
There's a lot going on, Hammond was the one who left the freezer door open from earlier when he got the ice cream, he inadvertently saved his grandchildren.
I STILL remember watching those claws open the door for the first time and thinking "oh JESUS no...."
I can’t believe the raptor butt touch blooper @0:21 is real 😂 how could I missed that
Not sure it is. Think its the tail and an optical illusion
What I find great to compare here is that the raptors are at a disadvantage inside buildings (although they much to the horror of the people inside figure out how to open doors. ) However outside Muldoon is outmatched in the wilderness where natural predators such as raptors have the edge.....no matter how good you are with a gun.
Alley: unless they can open doors
*later*
Me: they do
2:37 as smart as they are, one of them fell for the mirror trick
Love the end expressions of the raptor when it sees them running out of the room
Amazing and intense scene. This film and its intensity is still top notch. What a classic! This is what we wanted when we used to go to summer blockbusters, instead of the crap today trying to patronize us.
What is weird about this scene, is when the first raptor comes in, you can see the operator’s hand adjusting the tail. You never gonna unsee that.

Check the hand out pushing the raptors tail down when after it opens the door😂
If I was in jurassic park I wouldn't even make it past this point
Can we accept that the fact that this channel made our childhood
2:41 Are we really supposed to believe that second raptor just stood there watching the whole time and didn't go after Lex? lol

At 1:16 - the foot claw tapping. This is the greatest small detail - this is a thinking dino. Its also a very human thing to do which only adds to the terror of the scene with a touch of humor. Outstanding. Thanks for the upload !!
Jurassic park definitely one my top favorite movies all time!

Never realized how the girl out smarted the raptor in this film. This is how they should do kids in horror movies, terrified but resourceful.
i looooooooooooove the sound editing on the raptors
2:37 that is such a good bit lmao
Her trying to push the door down always had me cracking up Lol. I know it's not supposed to be funny but...

I saw that, too. Good eye, man. I bet it was Stan Winston's hand.
You son of a b
You notice how when the velociraptor is about to enter the kitchen somebody puts their hand on the tail at 0:21-0:24
Most frightening scene! And the music when it opened the door is so suspenseful and frightening.
This scene alone obliterates the new Jurassic World movies.
For me it’s this scene with the Raptors in the kitchen and the scene with the T rex chasing DR Malcolm and co when there in the jeep trying to get away from the Rex we’re the two best bits in what was my favourite all time movie. The tension was something else.
I love those scenes also.
This movie gave me nightmares when I was a kid, but was still my favorite movie. (Born 96)
No matter how many times I see this, I relive those moments and fall for the reflection, "OMG. She's safe!!"
"Turtles multiplying without a calculator"
My favorite movie of all time.
Crew members hand: HELLO THERE
0:23 a magical hand touches the dinosaurs 🦖 tail ha
If Hammond didnt leave the cooler open from getting the ice cream earlier...
Lex is a really underrated character. She protects her brother from the raptors and neutralizes both of them, and she saves everyone later by restoring the power. You could say she's the real hero.
0:37 You do NOT want to know where this sound came from
Alright. Those were mating tortoise sounds 💀💀💀
What adds a lot to the scene is the kids are terrified. That's missing in the new Jurassic World movies. There's a tense, scary scene and instead of being scared, Chris Pratt or whoever makes a quip and kills any potential tension.
0:20 the hand holding the dino xD
After all that work Alejandro did on the Chilean Seabass and the raptors weren’t interested in it.
Did anyone else notice the door (when Timmy gets chased into the freezer) is on the opposite side to when he clings on to the door when they enter the freezer. And then when they both try to shut the raptor inside....it's back on the original side..... 🧐🧐🧐
LOL! imagine if there had been all this fear and all the raptors wanted was the French Fries and milkshakes in the next room.
0:25 you can see the staff holding velociraptor tail 😅
Oh wow it does look like that!
Here are the sounds they recorded to make the velociraptor come to life:

Human vocalizations (Also that's her evil grin) 2:26
Horse 🐎 2:30
Dolphin 🐬 2:32
and
Walrus and de-barked dog 🐶 2:33
in 0:20 seconds you can see a hand pushing the raptor animatronic down to balance it
At 0.22 when you see the biggest mistake in film. The producers hand pushing the dinosaur into the kitchen.
It's not the biggest one lol
I love how they didn't just play up the intelligence of Velociraptors like World does, and cleverly showcase it in several ways. Any other dino could've scratched, clawed or even rammed the door, but the Raptors *figured out how to use the doorknob,* which is completely unexpected from any regular animal. They could've so easily made it that "ooo the Raptors are so strong they can break down a metal door", but NO, they had the Raptor *learn* how to open a door like a human would, which, in my opinion, is so much more terrifying.
that's the point 🤦♂🤦♂ although dinos never existed
