Me too! Saw it twice in the theater in summer 1993, once when it first came out in June and then around the end of its theatrical run in September. I was so mesmerized, I didn't even notice the passage of time during the movie - when that happens, you know it's a good movie!
Highest grossing film of all time for 4 years til Titanic was released in ‘97. Funny enough, Spielberg held the record for 11 years before Jurassic Park with E.T.
Respect to that second raptor. Likely knew she hadn't a chance in hell against the T-Rex but no way she was gonna let her packmate's death go unavenged.
It's just mind of slave: first raptor was an Alpha, and goes a terror leadership, another ones was so scared, and obeing to her. Second one know, what if she doesn't help to alpha, alpha kills her. Like she kills all another, but don't touch two
It's ironic: The T Rex's iconic reveal was large thundering footsteps, but the common criticism about the climax is how it was able to sneak up on the raptors in spite of this. In reality, a t rex no doubt was stealthy and could ambush prey. The supposed "Dues Ex Machina" of the movie is actually the most realistic.
@@reversalmushroom It was evolutionary successful as a predator (given its enormous size), which meant it was good at hunting. The hallmark of predation is to ambush prey. Can't do that if you are creating thunderous footsteps
The thunderous footsteps were likely an intimidation display. For hunting, the T-Rex was more than likely capable of stealth since it was an ambush predator
2:01 “You stare at him, and he just stares right back. And that's when the attack comes. Not from the front, but from the side, from the other two raptors you didn't even know were there.” - Alan Grant It’s quite poetic that the raptor made the same mistake. It stared at Grant, Grant stared right back and that’s when the attack came, not from Grant, but from the T-Rex on the side that the raptor didn’t know was there.
ILM took one whole year to make 6 minutes of CGI dinosaurs for Jurassic Park. The scene where the T-Rex hunts the Jeep alone took 3 months to animate and render. Steve 'Spaz' Williams, the animator who animated most of the T-Rex shots, said it took 12 hours to render a single frame. And by the way, these people were using 30 - 60 thousand dollar Silicon Graphics workstations and expensive, high-end software, some of which specifically designed for use in Jurassic Park. ILM had excellent artists and innovators (the same people who worked on JP previously worked on Star Wars, The Abyss and Terminator 2), and it was a time when movie makers really had to impress people in order to make money.
It's crazy that some parts of the movie, I could swear it wasn't CGI, even tho it was! For example, when Rexy flips the jeep over. The tyrannosaur was obviously CGI, but the jeep also was (in the specific shot I'm talking about, of course, most of the time it was an actual jeep). Or when Lex falls off the vent thingy on the control room with the raptor, the stunt double of Ariana Richards messed the whole scene by looking up, which was quickly solved by replacing the double's face with the actress's! I admire how they used visual effects only when needed and often used practical effects instead.
Spielberg made Jurassic park and Schindlers list I’m the same year you can’t deny he is hands down one of the greatest movie director in cinema history
I don't care that the humans and raptors somehow didn't see or hear the T-Rex coming, this scene is one of the greatest scenes in movie history: the music, the animatronics, and for a movie from the 90s, it looks a lot better than many modern day CGI fests. And the scene of Rexy roaring as the banner falls down is just cinematic iconography.

Add to the fact that the When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth banner falls down when the T-Rex roars after finishing off that second raptor makes this scene even more iconic and unforgettable.
This will always be my favourite movie of all time. The Dino’s still look so real in this movie. I watched this in the cinema when I was 5. I remember hiding behind my seat because I found it absolutely terrifying. I became obsessed with it and have watched it at least 100 times since😂😂. I remember working at the movie theater in 93 when this came out. I was still in high school 🤣. Also, in Jurassic World this is why I loved when they brought out the T-Rex to fight the Indominus Rex. T-Rex is the original and most dominant.
To me the moment that actually makes this scene so great is Alan Grant, he went from being somebody at the start who did not warm towards children to becoming a Father figure willing to give his life to protect them. This movie did something that the sequels couldn't do and sure enough not many modern films do anymore either and that is to make you care about the characters.

The original ending was for the raptors to die from the ceiling crushing them. Spielberg was so impressed by the T-rex first appearance he changed it saying audiences would love to see this final heroic role
I always use to think this ending was stupid.... but now as an adult it makes sense in a number of ways. First off, Speilberg had the ending changed to make the Rex have one final scene. He was right to do that. Second, the first raptor that died was the shed raptor which of course came in from under the plastic tarp covering the big hole from outside. The Rex probably followed it in there. Simple as that. Of course, the last raptor is "the big one," to bad the script didn't call for her raptor model to have some distinct markings but naratively it makes sense that she was the one that gave the kids the stink eye when her packmate was locked in the freezer. I guess the only thing that doesn't make as much sense is why they couldn't hear the Rex coming. But, ah well, movie magic.
The original scene involved something about a giant bone falling and crushing one of the raptors, and another being killed by Hammond, who was going to show up and shoot him. As for Tyrannosaurus, there is a deleted scene of him attacking the survivors' helicopter as they were about to escape Isla Nublar, and this scene was used in Camp Cretaceous.

i miss when movies were just fun, adventurous and full of escapism like this .... filmmakers today trying to bring this idea to the screen, would totally miss everything Spielberg captured.
escapism isnt a good thing, and this movie doesnt have it. fantasy should provide an escape, but still teaches you a lesson in a grounded world, and returns you to reality with those lessons learnt. escapes are healthy, but escapism is a mindset obsessed with escapes, where you never face reality for what it is. the message of jurassic park is important, especially in today's world, and i hope you dont take it at face value as an "escape".
I dont htink this movie is a good example of escapism, the movies tries to be realistic in everything it does, a belivable way to bring dinosaurs back, the animals act like animals, not just some cgi monsters, the same for actors, they get scared, and not just fight dinossaurs like in the World sequels.

1:53 touch of Superman from Williams what a composer… also this CGI looks better than anything from today
Absolute masterpiece of a scene!
It’s ironic how Rexy would go on to team up with a raptor 22 years later.
An iconic scene in a movie filled with iconic scenes. Love it!
Saw this in the theater as a lad. Pure magic. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex is the king of the Dinosaurs! The epic roar never gets old!
I don’t understand how anyone can not like dinosaurs.
As shown by her surviving for 30 more years against all odds
Can I say that the cameraman never dies 😂 how’s that possible with the raptors?!
I absolutely love the stupid raptor popping through the ceiling bit. The look on it’s face is priceless! So cheesy but honestly great cinema.
REXY will be my favourite dinosaur out of jurassic park /world
Best scene in the movie!
1:47 - watch closely as the fallen bones are moved before the Raptor's legs hits them... But still very well done practical effect
This movie is an addiction
I wish I was an adult when I 1st saw this movie, I could appreciate it more. I barely remember how I reacted to this scene as a child
2:45 That throw into the Rex skeleton was personal 😂
I've always thought it was so poetic and awesome when the T-Rex shatters the T-Rex skeleton with the raptor. Incredible scene.
1:27, I need to see a perfectly cut screams version.
2:37OMG THIS PART!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

That roar will always be the most iconic roar ever. Not even Jurassic World's Rexy's roar can't top this roar.
i miss when movies were just fun, adventurous and full of escapism like this .... filmmakers today trying to bring this idea to the screen, would totally miss everything Spielberg captured.
escapism isnt a good thing, and this movie doesnt have it.
fantasy should provide an escape, but still teaches you a lesson in a grounded world, and returns you to reality with those lessons learnt. escapes are healthy, but escapism is a mindset obsessed with escapes, where you never face reality for what it is.
the message of jurassic park is important, especially in today's world, and i hope you dont take it at face value as an "escape".
I dont htink this movie is a good example of escapism, the movies tries to be realistic in everything it does, a belivable way to bring dinosaurs back, the animals act like animals, not just some cgi monsters, the same for actors, they get scared, and not just fight dinossaurs like in the World sequels.
@@HueManatee You must be fun at parties.
@@PeteTheGrouch i am, thanks!
@@HueManatee _doubt_
i love rexy's victory roar "when dinosaurs rule the earth
