    The simple reason is the larger capacity keeps the voltage higher for longer. The M12 is full at 12.5volts and dead around 9volts. Just tightening the fasteners in the video the 4.0ah dropped 2 dots and then rebounded to 1 dot loss. This means it's voltage had dropped to around 10.8(2dots)-11.4volts(3dots). The 6.0ah lost no bars so we can assume the cell voltages were still around 4volts/12v total. In my personal testing the tools have around half the power and the no load rpm is halved when they are low/dead vs a full charge. So you could assume each dot lose is around a 12.5% Power reduction.

      You're right on with our testing. We're not noticing much of a power drop when dropping to 3 dots, but it's definitely noticeable at the 50% mark. Thanks for the input.

      A lot of manufacturers will reduce voltage to maximize run times. The true power of the right angle shows while using the 6.0 battery but the 6.0 is not actually a stronger battery it just has a higher storage capacity.
      My Flex brand cordless 3” mini polisher as well as my 5” polisher are very efficient when using the smaller 2.0 amp battery and feel underpowered. But, when I put in the biggest battery, the speed and torque jump.

    I think miluakee making a right angle impact in such a small package is awesome. AVE pulled this apart, the way the parts are organized is very inovative. And breaks away 350+ ftlbs? Not bad at all

    I have had a couple of times that my m18 impact wouldn't get a logout loose so I took the 9.0 battery out and put the 12.0 battery in. The power increase is usually just enough to get the nut loose. You can definitely tell a huge difference in performance with the difference size battery in certain applications.

    The XC 4.0 did move the nut at 7:07, but stopped right before taking it off. Thats why the XC 6.0 lose the nut so easily the first try.

    I have the M12 Left angle 3/8 impact wrench. As well as the hammer drill and impact drill. M18 impact screw gun and hammer drill. M18 1/2” impact gun with all kinds of batteries for each. But that M12 works wonders. Definitely recommend it.

    We've been testing the M18 3.0 vs 5.0 vs 6.0 vs 12.0Ah's on larger impacts for our channel and have noticed increases from the XC series batteries but nothing if not a loss on the HD so far.

      @@stockton209ent Milwaukee makes 3 different types of battery lines. CP, XC and HD. Which features different numbers of cells and cell sizes. Some are supposed to increase run time, others power and run time.

    As me being a mechanic as soon as I got this tool I put the biggest battery (6.0) just because I thought it would help loosen bolts. Glad you actually proved it for me lol

    This subject has been covered by the engineers at Milwaukee, and a few others. It does not increase the power of the tool, it merely allows the tool to work at its peak performance for a longer duration. No, not just allows the tool to work longer, but the tool actually holds its peak performance longer. If you have more cells spinning the motor, then the motor will spin at its peak speed longer. Think of it like having one guy (12v 1Ah) lifting a log over his head and moving it ten feet. But if you add two more guys (12v 3Ah) that are the same size, then those three guys can lift and carry the log easier because you are evenly distributing the work load, and they can work at that intensity longer as well as longer throughout the day. But if you were to replace those three guys, but those three new guys were power lifters (18V 3Ah) then they can now lift heavier logs even easier than the first trio, or lift the same size log even easier than the first trio.
    The only way to actually increase the power output of the battery is to add move Volts. 12 vs 18 vs 24 etc., etc.
    Plus, holding the trigger for long periods is actually decreasing the performance of the impact, instead of pulling, holding a few strikes, releasing and repeating. That is why the tool was able to release/remove the same nut that it had previously been "Stuck" on. There is more impact performance on the first couple of hits. That also allows the battery to last a bit longer.

      Your assumption is somewhat true, but not reality. We've had these discussions with multiple Milwaukee engineers, at Milwaukee headquarters. Battery engineers would say one thing (much like what you're mentioning), and Tool engineers would say another, agreeing with us, that real-world testing showed significant gains with different batteries. Yes, I agree that the larger Ah batteries will keep the peak-performance longer, but the larger batteries are also delivering more energy, period. Take the M12 Stubby or the Right Angle, use it with a 2.0 battery, then use it with a 4.0 or 6.0 battery. The gains not only show on paper, but you can feel it and hear it. You have to look at the rate of discharge of the battery, or Max-Amp output. RC cars are better examples of this, you can have a 40A or 100A output battery, both the same voltages, but the 100A output will deliver much better performance. Thanks for watching.

      @@Shoptoolreviews Physics and the laws of energy, followed by engineers, state such that you can only deliver as much energy as you have stored/available. You can only get a gallon of water out of a gallon bucket, and you can only get 12V of energy out of a 12v battery. As we have both stated, the engineers that design and build these batteries have stated the same thing.
      Now, technology has allowed us to be able to extract 95% of that stored energy, which is way more than they were able to do ten, or even as recent as 3 years ago. I say 95%, because there is still some sort of technology that will allow us to extract a little more out of the next iteration of battery. Examples being Red Lithium, XC, Heavy Duty XC, M12/18 VS. FUEL etc., etc.

      @@jmackinjersey1 Sorry but you are mistaken. The voltage isn't the only factor when it comes to power output. Every brand and line of lithium cell from manufacturers like Panasonic or Samsung has its own different C rating which is the charge/discharge current of the cell. A higher C rating on higher quality cells allows the battery to discharge more current at whatever voltage its chemistry supports. Voltage multiplied by current gives you total POWER in watts, which is what the tool sees and what you feel. The way C ratings work is actually a function of cell capacity - it's current draw related to capacity, thus higher quality, higher capacity cells often have the capability to deliver more current (not always, some cells are designed with low C ratings as a trade-off for other parameters). You can not simply take the voltage and judge power based on that - that is foolish, just think of a welder pushing 300 amps at 10 volts, that's more total power than a table saw at only 0.08x the voltage.
      You are correct that as a cell draws down and its voltage drops, total power drops. BUT you are entirely incorrect in assuming that two batteries of equal voltage must have equal peak power output, or that power output is strictly related to voltage. One 12v battery can have a vastly different power output than another 12v battery, simply by choice in cells.

      The 6.0 can keep the voltage higher for longer this is why it give more power
      Notice the 4.0 was at 2 bar and recovered to 3 bar but the 6.0 was still at 4 bar at the end of the test

    the 6.0 did too get the 400 ft lbs. That wasn't cheating! I think the 4.0 could've gotten the 350 too if you had given it more time or tried again on a full charge. perhaps, rattling on it for a while and then letting the battery cool down before trying again also helps. I think a lot of these tests are inaccurate because people give up too soon

      A smart idea to atleast have a 3/8 and 1/2 impact. I use my 1/2 to remove lug nuts and axle nuts w/o depinning them

    When Milwaukee came up with Fuel "Find Ultimate Energy Levels" they obviously meant it.
    In some cases your basically upgrading your tool to the latest and greatest most powerfulist bestest thing out just by upgrading the battery and they're going to keep doing that the indefinitely.
    I wouldn't doubt if they have a High Output Gen 2 & 3 for both M12 & M18 within a few years that makes the same tools even stronger.
    I just wish they could make them alot lighter in the process.

    I used th-cam.com/users/postUgkx4ynqaujg7rZKFapA8s29kTpRszJGa3-K this for the first time today to replace the front wheel bearing on my rwd 98 dodge dakota. This had absolutely no issue removing or reinstalling the lug nuts and it took off the axle nut without any struggle. Sounds like it's got some muscle to it. Time will tell

    Your last test with the 6ah battery at 400 you were tightening. You snugged it first then torqued it and never switched back to loosen.

    I have found the best use imo for the right angle with i believe a 4.0 ah battery which i use, this is my personal use of course.. for accessory drive pulleys, alternators etc, where i find you need more power then a ratchet, mainly for the initial hit.. works as i want it to. does it need a 4 ah battery for it no but it lasts longer..oh yea.. so i have the blue point version of the right angle... absolutely love the tool, did i replace it no, do i use it as much, nope.. not because its not a valuable but because im not a fan of air hoses lol

    Hey brother good video, I definitely can tell a difference when using the 6.0 over the 4.0 on my other M12 products.
    My question is, when removing the fasteners, I understood that speed 4 gives you additional break away torque and then slows down after.
    "A new 4-mode drive control includes three (3) speeds, plus a bolt-removal mode. This new mode will deliver all the power to the fastener until it breaks free, then the tool will back down to only 750 RPM."
    Just to clarify, speed 3 and 4 provide the same break away torque, with the only difference being the auto slow down on speed 4?

    Just had a nightmare this morning buying this from Home Depot this morning. Finally got one that's working . First time buying a Milwaukee. Even opened it at the cashier. After I got home. Damn thing didn't work. Went back the exchange was a nightmare too! The store I bought it at only had one. The pro store said it had 3 in stock. I went to some old lady that looked like she didn't know what she was taking about. I hit the pro store first thing in the morning. I knew they had it! So when I took my 2nd trip there. I went back to the original store. The fella from the tool department came to returns n verified it didn't work. He told me the pro store had 3. The old lady dealt with me again n said they had none. I went to the manager desk n ty hey took care of business. They found the hidden boxes in the security cage n got me one that is working!!!

    In most, but not all cases, the 6 amp battery makes a difference.
    The biggest difference is the run time. When I was using my set a lot, I found that I had to recharge the 2.0 more often than I wanted to. Not only was it an inconvenience, but it also lowers the life of the battery.

    Be good to see if the 9ah Waitley battery comes out on top because it has another 3 18650's over the genuine 6ah, Less voltage drop, more power under load possibly?

    You should a comparison between the 1/2 and 3/8 versions of this tool, see how much, if any, torque you lose by going with the 3/8 drive instead of the 1/2

      Auto still delivers 100% breakaway force, initially, but Speed 3 delivers 100% breakaway force all the time. We don't like to test in Auto mode. Thanks for watching.

    I’m now second guessing the purchase of the Kobalt 24v right angle impact. I just don’t like the plastic housing around the anvil. Plus I had to invest in a new platform having to buy a charger and two extra batteries when I already have several m12 batteries in different amp power hour levels.

      If you are looking for burt force I think the Kobalt still wins. But the Milwaukee is the more intelligent tool, a smarter design. It can slow when running fasteners back on.
      I have both. If you simply want brute force the Kobalt is oustanding even more so with the Ultimate Output batteries with the 21700 cells. But the Milwaukee is the better all around tool and as seen here the 4ah and 6ah do make a difference in the power of the Milwaukee, however I think the Kobalt still will out run it in the power department.
      It is like a Dodge HellCat (Kobalt) vs. A Chevy C8 Corvette.

    Xc 4.0s are my favorite. Good bang for your buck. Cp2.0s that come in the kits are good for some things but dont last long but the way price's are set up on amazon it makes more sense to buy the high ouput cp2.5s for like 33 bucks and if you want bigger the ho5.0s are like 62. A regular 6.0 is 80. And thats amazon good prices not homedepot break your wallet and slap you in the mouth prices

    The 3.0 XC provides 552W (2 packs x 23A x 12v), the 4.0 XC provides 528W (2 packs x 22A x 12v) and the 6.0 XC provides 360W (2 packs x 15A x 12v). So theoretically the 3.0 XC (large one, not the compact) should be the most powerfull M12 battery.

      The xc 6.0 get less voltage sag it keep the voltage higher for longer when the battery get to 2 bar its at ~10 volts you get the best result at 12+volt notice the 6.0 battery was still at 4 bar and the 4.0 dropped at 2 bar and recovered at 3 bar after the test
      less volt = less power

      From disassembly videos elsewhere it looks like the XC6.0 uses Samsung inr18650-30q cells, does anyone know what cells are in the XC4.0? This test really has me intrigued.

    TIM from Canada… explain to me why it is so hard to get Milwaukee batteries into Milwaukee, M 12 or Milwaukee M 18 tools… and then trying to get the batteries out of these tools is even worse.. and then trying to get the batteries out of the charger.     Anyone who knows electricity knows that Power ='s Volts x Amps or I like to think of it as 'PIV' : Power = Current (I) x (V) Volts
    Basically what I'm trying to say is no 💩 more amps equates to more power when voltage is the same!

      @@Shoptoolreviews I have to agree with my fellow James, you can see the torque drop off on your tightening test. It only makes sense that it would on the loosening test as well. Especially since the 6.0 was only able to break loose the one that the 4.0 got stuck on.
