Louis, did you check how the power regeneration works? I see that the car does not charge the battery even while coasting but it does only when braking. Also, the rears seats do not fold down, which I think is a big disadvantage given the limited boot space. If you have checked out the car navigation, you will find that the available memory for storing favourite locations is extremely limited. After adding just a few, it said that there's no more space available. I also found that even though the car is online connected to a hotspot, it will not find anything if you do an online search in navigation mode, unlike the Audi's, which is excellent and actually uses Google to search for places. Technically, I found this car to be somewhat lacking in stuff like this although it does look really good inside and out. I agree the screen resolution is amazing but the usefulness of the navigation is questionable.
S S Lau Hi! Apart from using power socket, charging of the battery while driving works only by regenerative braking or coasting/recuperation. The reason why I mention coasting/recuperation is because when the car coast, depending on the charge level of the battery and traffic, the car will compute and decide whether the car should be allowed to coast freely or decelerate the car to allow charging by recuperation to take place, that means it won't charge every time the car coast. Regarding the navigation of the car, I have to admit I looked past it and didn't experience it since I'm stuck to Waze for faster navigation since I only had the car for a weekend. It definitely sounds kinda disappointing if it performs like how you mentioned. And yes the boot space is really small for a luxury family sedan, I had trouble ferrying some of my stuff too one time. But what do you think of the ownership experience so far? To be specific, the after sales service?
The after sales service so far has been good but the car had some serious issues. I left the car for 6 weeks and on my return, the battery was flat. Couldn't start. My Audi A4 started up like a champ, by comparison. After jump starting, a warning came out that the power steering is faulty. Mercedes towed the car back and it took 3 days to replace the whole steering rack and pump. Apparently my car isn't the only one. As for the car, the ride is very comfortable and the interior is really nice with the ambient lights. Fuel economy is about 9 lt/100 km for long distance drive . Otherwise it's about 10 lt/100 km. The real-world full electric drive distance is about 20 km, ie night driving with aircon and comfort setting. Don't believe that hype about 35 km or so of electric drive. Totally impossible. Multi beam headlights are excellent, super bright at night and very intelligent management. Apple CarPlay works without a hitch. Android Auto is crappy. All in all, I would recommend the car, though I think Audi is technically superior. Audi car navigation is excellent and you can leave the car for months and it'll still start up like a champ
S S Lau Hahaha! Totally agree on the fuel consumption and electric range. I got 20km too. And surprised about the fault thing. Honestly I'm not a fan of plugin hybrids, as in I wouldn't buy one myself other than the X540e but I gave up on that because it's features looks dated now. By the way, I'm currently filming the B9 A4 2.0 Quattro. Just picked up the car today, absolutely loving the drive so far.
Louis Siah, I am looking forward to that review. I bought an A4 1.4TFSI with technology pack for my wife. I thought she wouldn’t need the performance of a Quattro though I know it’s a fantastic car. I also have an A4 3.0TDI Quattro in Sydney. Fabulous car
S S Lau A4 3.0TDI quattroooo. You have taste man. I would be so excited if I get to try an A4 with that engine haha. So far this car is seriously winning my heart. The only thing is RM 315k and I dont even get reverse camera and the matrix led headlight doesn't come as standard. Arghh. But driving experience is awesome. *Replying you while I'm up here at Genting with the car.
Personally, i would prefer e200, reason being i am skeptical of how reliable hybrids/plugin hybrids can be, and I've heard reliability issues from not just merc, bmw as well. And my rule of thumb is 'if there's more electronic parts, there'll be more issues in the future',for this one reason i would prefer the e200, less worry. Having said that unless you are not planning to keep the car for more than 4 years, by all means get the E350e for its power and fuel saving factor(some people may say if you're rich enough to buy a car at that price you shouldn't worry about petrol, that's rubbish to me, wise rich people are more likely to find ways to save while enjoying life hehe). And a word of advice, It also depends which car do you love more when you test drove it you know, from sitting in the driver seat and the experience of driving it. If you think the driving experience is something you like and you think the car is offering you something you have been looking for then go for it, if not maybe this brand is not offering you what you truly want:)
Thanks for the review! You did a really good job in describing the car. Very good video with very useful info. I subscribed after watching( this was my first watched review from you- I hope you will keep making excellent reviews) One question about the car.. How long does it take to charge the battery to 100% while driving. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words and for watching! As for your question I've never tried charging it to full while driving and i think it'll be pretty hard too unless you are descending from a mountainous destination that requires lots of braking amd slowing down then maybe you may be able to charge it up more. At home with the 3pin adapter, it takes about 2 to 3 hours to charge it full which gives about 20+km electric range(one drive out into city centre can deplete it lol)
Louis..the mercedes has a 9G tronic transmission. Will the performance inspire us and what if id rev the car and don't enable it till the 8th or 9th gear. Will the power be different
I have a off-topic question, what happens to cars that are borrowed by the media and sometimes those media cars has clocked thousands of kilometers. Will the cars will be sold at a lower price? Thanks!
Advin not really off topic laa haha I thought you wanna ask questions like what do I love eating. yes it will be sold as demo cars usually or through other means.
Hi regarding the charging cable that use at public.. I’m just curious why my dad e350e does not comes with it? does even comes with chargeev card like bmws have?
Hey, i believe they do come with the car for bmw, I'm not sure for mercedes, i thought it's standard that they come with it. I suggest should ask the salesperson why they didn't provide that, if not how to charge outside right
DL i just realised, the blue fast charging cable for bmw 330e was initially sold as an optional item and when you purchase it they would also provide you with the chargeev card. I'm not so sure as of this moment. I wasnt informed when the car was handed to me.
Shellep Asit I'll honestly say I don't know. But based on my experience, the part where I showed how to charge the car in the video you can see a charging symbol whenever it's charging right, if I unlock the car that symbol would actually go off so I assume it's not charging after you unlock and enter the car. But in the situation that you mentioned,I would assume you would only do that if you're sleeping or resting at a charging station outside or a rest stop right. Cause you don't really have charge it since you can charge it with the engine running in hybrid mode. The hybrid battery will last you only around 30km anyway.
kk chong the car is very stable at high speeds on highway, agility-wise I would say it's setup more towards comfort cruising which it's intended for. It is definitely a fast car but I would choose to drive this on long journeys.
Trio Logic But I'm doing this for the channel instead of test driving for myself😳 although this experience totally sold the car to me and made me want one. I don't think they loan out cars unless it's for marketing purposes like in my case it's for a review. Btw your username looks familiar, have you been on my channel before?
Louis Siah yeahhh i think so. Haha Yeap i was asking abt the suspension of the A4 that day. Im a car enthusiast as well, always go to the showroom and get the latest news and somehow get to test drive the car for a short period of time.. keep up the good work louis :D
Trio Logic I totally agree with you test drive don't really provide enough 'info' about a car. That's why I'm trying to provide more info and give more pointers to look out for when test driving a car. Btw Thank you!
Hehe

Thanks for detailed review. I would like to afford for sure.
I pray you can get your dream car soon!
Hey louis, can you please give your opinion on E200 vs E350e ?
Both are 2.0cc but i confuse on choosing between these two
Personally, i would prefer e200, reason being i am skeptical of how reliable hybrids/plugin hybrids can be, and I've heard reliability issues from not just merc, bmw as well. You deserve so many more subs
Thank you my friend. I appreciate your comment :)
Great review man!! 👍🏻
Thanks man!
Louis, hows the driver’s footwell area ? I felt that it was too narrow. Cannot kangkang. Must be lenguh for long distance
wlpwpe har?? How tall are you or maybe you have long legs? 😅 it actually felt comfortable for me, not like C class.

kk chong the car is very stable at high speeds on highway, agility-wise I would say it's setup more towards comfort cruising which it's intended for. It is definitely a fast car but I would choose to drive this on long journeys.
How u ask for a long term test drive like this? Im really into this but dont know what is the policy if i wanted to test the car for 3 days hahaha

This Merc made everything else so outdated. Well executed from the German.
Liang Ee Ping totally agree with you! I'm interested to see who would come up with a better car than this!
spot me!
Kalau kereta tak cas, berapa fuel consumption siah?

Haha. Betul. Diesel lebih torque dan ekonomi.
Patut la macam tak ada je merc Eclass diesel kat mudah.my. Yang ada nampak, macam diesel GLE je, import.
Kena beli GLE la ni. Hehe
farhan ali saya suka gle250d punya design tapi tak berapa suka pemanduan dia. Rasa berat dan design dalaman masih macam ML.
What's with the accent?
Nick tan err my broken and weird accent i guess, i talk like this in real life, not faking anything :(
Louis Siah Nah.... it's cool:)
Bodyroll....
Yea there is some bodyroll but tolerable.
