    i have been doing self defense for years, i am a certified krav maga instructor and i can say that this is one of the few styles that i believe will prepare you for a real life situation, very well done. please note, when making your stance you want to make sure that you are practicing with short stances. that way when in real life if you are in a situation where you are confined to a small space you will be fine, other than that great work

      agreed. if you opponents hands are both being used to grab your arms then you have so much advantage. groin kick, head but, hammer fist, literally anything

      He makes some good points in the video, and I'm always watching other martial arts to see how they do things, but there are also some mistakes and generalizations presented here.
      #1: Never keep your hands splayed open during a fight. Your fingers will get broken. If your have hands open, your fingers must be tight together.
      #2: It's perfectly fine to crossover step with your feet, and in fact this is the only way that you can cover larger distances quickly. For short steps, no crossover is necessary.
      #3: Holding your fists beside your head while punching is a defence that only works for boxers (boxers guard) because they wear soft padded gloves which absorb punches. It doesn't work for bare fists because if I punch your hand, I'm going to knock you out with your own fist. You essentially compromise some power in your punches because you don't have any counter-action from drawing the other hand in. Also, it leaves you completely exposed up the middle, wide open for front snap kicks. Having the hands up is fine, but they shouldn't be beside your head.
      #4: You can see that they have to over-rotate on their punches because they have no counter-action from the other arm. That leaves them vulnerable to being grabbed and pulled off balance.
      Anyway, I'm sure my comments will get deleted because nobody can handle an opposing point of view these days.

    I learn in martial art situations, somes are good in this video. I practise serveral stuff to end by wing tsun kung fu and stop. 91/2 degree.
    Today I'm retired and restart to move my body. I think is good to have some tricks for situations but the best is to develop reflexes like the chi sao,
    Then you can fight faster than the mind :-) like lightening. Recently I discovred Ido and primal movments I love it very much and see how that
    can change your strengh and mobility. Maybe is better to have a super body and when you decide to fight, to exclude anything else
    and fight totally without thinking about situation but only to a fatal reflexe dance triggered by feeling of the fight energy to defeat of the opponent.
    About technical stuff, good there, you can ... instead of using one weapon (arm, leg, elbow, knew, fingers, etc) at a time, use 2 when possibles and better
    use the opponent as a catapult to punch him with all the power of your body :-)
    i.e when reacting to the gripp of the hand and turn it then kick the elbow, do the same but take fermly the opponent arm and while kicking the elbow
    use it as a catapult by pulling the opponent arms to you as catapult and puch the jaw using the power of the ground and your cinetic energy
    You can shout something like an animal, is good

      All it takes is a light touch, once you feel your opponent you don't have to see them...with enough practice and trusting your senses.

    • @jaredbicker3931
      @jaredbicker3931 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      as stated in the previous replies. You are training worst case... dark night, bad visibility, etc. If you can train (trusting your partner) to the worse case, should the event actually happen in the real world, you will have that automatic reaction to know what to do without having to 'think' your way through it.
      Faster reaction equals more of a chance of survivability!

    • @nirmal148
      @nirmal148 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In your question you stated in the order awareness of the threat and then close eyes....
      The point is to train the other way....train with first eyes closed then threat reveals itself and you train yourself to react defensively.....which is more close to reality I guess.
      It's to basically hone your reactive defense.....when you are already aware of the threat then that is proactive defense.

      Similar to me, I love fighting and do Brazilian ju jitsu, been thinking about doing krav mega but I'm not sure. As far as I know it's a mix of both really, the main goal is neutralising your opponent as fast as possible, some grappling, kicks, knees, groin strikes, neck strikes etc

    "Belts"??? never in my 5 years have I heard of belts being given in "krav maga" untill I looked online on "some" TH-cam videos. (Very few though I must add)
    It is meant to be just based on Grading as in "Grade level 1-2-3-4 + etc etc"

    • @UltimateTraining
      @UltimateTraining  7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Belt is just a word we use, which really conveys levels. Actually, we originally just used "Levels 1-6", we now say "Yellow Belt, Level 1". You do not actually earn or wear a physical belt. If you search for a "worldwide" krav maga organization, you will notice they have a similar philosophy on the usage of the word belt. Sorry for any confusion!

    I spent a lot of time in the MMA gym. I’ve trained with some really great teachers are taught me a lot. I completed level two Krav Maga. That being said, I would never want this scrawny little guy teaching me self-defense. He is so small. The average baseball player could beat the crap out of him. If he doesn’t think it’s necessary to get into the gym and get his body built up and strong, put some weight and some muscle on him how can you trust him as a self-defense instructor?! Out if that wasn’t bad enough the way he’s teaching is nothing like the way I was told when I took Krav Maga. The way he’s teaching them and demonstrating punches, there is no power behind those punches. He’s not teaching them how to generate power from the tips of your toes, all the way to the end of your finger, the rotating of the torso, the loading of the rotator cuff, all the necessary components that go into a hard stopping punch this boy. “Boy has no understanding.

      @@fsp2832 i am also just another person on youtube leaving a comment. If you want to start krav maga and a fighting gym is available where you live, try asking for a free lesson or look for MMA gyms. Just a gym like the guy above trained in.
      One can know and teach the techniques without being huge. These types of video can give you some basic sense of what to do IN THEORY for you to practice at home. Real life training with a partner under supervision of a person who is a trainer and can give you feedback on what to look out for is crucial.
      Don't get me wrong, size and weight is a very big factor in a fighting! A small person will have considerable difficulty going against the tall person of same fighting knowledge.
