His tone is perfect, his direction is concise "if you dropping the right arm back try and bring it across to guard your face" Excellent instruction. I will subscribe and have my 13 year old daughter start watching these videos at once

Only issue with the gun technique at 13:50 is that nobody is going to be holding onto a gun that lightly. It's going to be much harder to throw someone off who's got their arms and hands clenched the right way

Exactly. My 9mm Beretta has a real light pull and I wonder if someone could disarm me before I pull the trigger. I'm trained to stay away from my attacker as much as possible and use distance to my advantage as I'm a fair shot in tactical situations.

This was designed as a "drills class", rather than a lesson class. In our online krav maga program, we generally have a lesson class, which is filled with detailed instruction on particular techniques, with some basic drilling. And then, the following class is a drills class. In a drills class, we do not do high-level breakdowns of the techniques, but rather, focus on getting in effective and realistic repetitions. I hope that makes sense!

Great class. No BS about belt colors. Basic warm up. Good exercises. I'd skip the gun control because if that baby is loaded you are going to bite that bullet. Love that circle of attacks (most self defense classes it's one on one combat). Noticed that there are no arm submissions and ground pins - more hit and run stuff which is wiser for the beginners. Will look up a class near me to try and see if I don't break anything

They rack the gun after a disarm: In America alot of people have a license or are trained to fire a firearm.
For European viewers: Do NOT rack it or attemp to fire the gun. It is not self defense when you fire after a disarm.
Also it may reduce the sentence the assailant may get in court: If it has only one bullet in the chamber and you rack it, and the bullet goes flying never to be found the gun is not armed, thereby reducing the sentence.

I actually think Krav Maga is extremely UNrealistic. Because it fails to teach students to model the somatic reflex arc, i.e. the reaction to correctly placed strikes to vital targets. How can they do this when they have say 6 guys charging at you with kick shields, you strike at the shields, you do heavy strong say push kicks in the centre of the shield which if wasn't holding shield would be striking the solar plexus or abdomen or bladder. "Reality based" should also model reactions like Kung Fu San Soo practitioners are taught to do.

So I noticed in the gun defense drill that they weren't holding the gun with their finger on the trigger. Would that not affect the disarm? The up and over disarm in particular seeing as in a real situation the aggressors finger would naturally be on the trigger.

Looks good except for the escape from rear naked choke. "Turn into the arm that's choking" and then the person just somehow ducks out from under that arm!?? No. Not gonna work, unless the person doing the choke is a complete weakling. When a person is tightening up the choke, their bicep is automatically going to be flexed so tightly against your carotid artery, you are not escaping. You are quickly going to sleep. Other than that this stuff is great and this young trainer is an awesome teacher.

Brandy's escape from headlock and escape from RNC techniques are incorrect, the defence from the headlock is commenced with a groin strike before the raking of the eyes and pulling the head back. She is turning in to the attackers upper arm anti-clockwise in her RNC defence, which is the wrong way. She should be turning away from his upper arm anti clockwise with a right arm RNC. Somebody correct her otherwise she's reinforcing her mistakes. The RNC escape demonstrated here not really a convincing technique either way. I'd be considering other possibilities.

Turning towards the choking arm? This week I went to a defensive class (not Krav Maga), and the message was to turn away from the choking arm, and towards the opening.
There are many contradictions, motivations and philosophies in martial arts. When you practice 'blocks', much can seem sensible. But when you put the blocks together, they have to hook on, be compatible or even fluent. Then you return to your building blocks with a different, more pragmatic view. And possibly a bit confused. That's the learning process. Any method is good, except for the bad ones...

Justun Dodd In the streets avoid ground fighting at all costs. You want to start off with muaythai (but if it goes to the ground you will obviously have to use your bjj) so suggest you also learn how to strike next to bjj :)
