Great video, I really enjoyed it. I love the concept of “Unsexy Basics” but I like to think of them as “Transformative Fundamentals.” I think that’s much better branding for a very useful and necessary concept for good health. Sells it!

I would like to quibble on one point only. The reason magnesium works is not because it resolves a magnesium deficiency. The key is to take a form of magnesium, like magnesium citrate, that does NOT absorb well. The magnesium stays in the gut, and that forces an osmotic reaction that forces water into the bowel.

I get your point, but that's perhaps the reason it works for _some people given their circumstances._ For me, magnesium glycinate works because it helps me relax and sleep, which has been a core problem for my decade-long struggle with constipation. Citrate might draw water and force a watery poop the next day;l, but that never resolved my constipation satisfactorily bc I still only slept 4-5 hours a night and needed to address vagal tone. Glycinate + _eliminating_ coffee has been a God send for me this year so far, along with artichoke extract in the AM and ginger at night (I prefer this to the ProDigest formula all motility products use-it's just been way more effective and reliable for me).

Oh, and to your point on magnesium deficiency: it could be the case for some. The creator made sure to qualify their remarks as such in the video (7:47 _"if_ they are magnesium deficient"). Actually, they do a good job of qualifying their remarks throughout the video since all of this is so case-specific.

@@GibranCamus-kr2dc What is your theory on why you taking artichoke in the AM and ginger at night?

Magnesium citrate was a game changer for. Having a heavy weight lifting workout at around 6pm and taking approximately 400mg of magnesium citrate directly post workout did wonders for my bowel movement in the morning. The result is not the same when I take it without a workout. I assume this is due to increased metabolism after workout. Anyways, it's great!

There are three main types of constipation: normal-transit constipation, slow-transit constipation, and pelvic floor dysfunction constipation.
Normal-transit constipation is the most common type and is caused by problems with the muscles and nerves that control bowel movements.
Slow-transit constipation is caused by problems with the way food moves through the intestines.
Pelvic floor dysfunction is when the muscles around the anus and rectum are too weak or too tight to allow regular bowel movements.
    What are the Symptoms?
Each type of constipation has its own set of symptoms.
Normal-transit constipation is characterized by difficulty passing stool, a sense of urgency, and straining.
Slow-transit constipation is characterized by complex, dry stools that are difficult to pass, a feeling of fullness after eating and bloating.
Pelvic floor dysfunction constipation is characterized by a feeling of obstruction in the rectum, pain during bowel movements, and incomplete evacuation

Thank you, excellent video ❣️ I suffer from very slow transit time and hemorrhoids so for decades I’ve be taking senna but it’s so messy and I never feel emptied. Would Linzess help?

    • @Diogenes-II
      @Diogenes-II 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

No, linzess only adds water to the colon while using it.
      Try Heather's fiber!

You mean linseed? I tried but it was not a miracle cure. Still, I think it's a good type of fibre to consume. I too have stc but senna destroys my gut. Can't tolerate senna at all, gives me painful cramps 😢 same goes with a bunch of other herbal laxatives. Triphala does nothing at all for me.

What do u do when u have gastroparesis and ANYTHING u take swells u like a basketball. I know something is wrong with my thyroid. I’m on meds my tests come back fine but it makes no difference what I feel like. I try to talk the drs and just love to have them roll their eyes at me. I know I’m low mag & potassium. I can’t take ANY form. I tell the doctor whom I see because I can’t eat and I can barely hold liquid. She tells me to eat a salad. I give up. I just want this life to be over. I’m tired of being abused by doctors and not having enough money to see a dr like Dinezza. Disabled people are worthless.

Basically still dealing with some thing like this. I suggest that you take with an anabiotic to kill off all the bad bacteria and then eat probiotics like Kiefer if necessary only Kiefer for days until your gut heals right now I am on eggs and cheese and yogurt and I do take probiotics in the morning. And if necessary I take a laxative so it doesn’t back up and start blowing up anyway. Hope this helps.
