I think it should be called a "Davie Wont Fail". that looks amazing. I have been watching quite a few vids on TH-cam trying to learn how to tye, and yours are by far the most informative easy to follow out there keep up the good work.
    Regards Stevie.

Just finished my first McPhail Marabou Bug. I had to use different materials because I have only just started tying my own flies and I am low on materials but it really looks the part and boy am I chuffed! Thanks Davie. Keep them coming. I'm learning so much from you.

    That looks beautiful, Davie!
Iv been using marabou like that except iv been tying it in like you would tye a wing or tail and winding up with the tips. Never worked really. Luckily i clicked onto this video and saw you doing it.
I found with the longer herl you get a sort of palmered hackle look about it.
    Thanks for posting,
    ~David

    Very nice.
Could you use the Bug UV type finish for the shell back rather than varnish?
    Thanks

    Hello Davie!
Im going to tie this with a wing and thorax cover of CdC and see if i can get a few fish at arran view fishery on Monday.
I was fishing Arran View on tuesday (caught 12! all released) and yesterday and I asked what fly was being used and it was a shuttle cock emerger and the closest thing that resembled that was a few of your McPhail Marabou Bugs that I had previuosly tied..
    Great wee patten!

Hey Davie, is it possible to use thick UV resin and smudge it down like you did and cure and follow up with a very lite or hydro and cure it and get the same effect? I could be years trying to get the varnish that thick! I haven't tried it but I intend to.
    All the best, Sean

    Hello Davie,
Well, I'm back at the beginning of your videos again. It's interesting what a person finds they missed on the previous views. About 1:40 you say, "I'll tighten this up a bit". I figure you are changing the grip on your bobbin holder (same as mine) on the thread spool. You got it done pretty quickly. What did you do?

      Hi Mike,
By tightening up both the waste piece and the tying thread as I wind down this will give you great control with the turns and allows you to go at a faster pace..
      All the very best Davie..
