It’s a lesson that forgiving is divine. Everyone is flawed. We all make bad choices. I applaud Debbie Reynolds for being such a class act, Carrie for overcoming her bitterness and Elizabeth for accepting Debbie and Carrie’s maturity and desire to maintain them close by.
She and her mom are incredible and so talented. I love them most when they are comedic like this but I did also love that she kept it real in that one clip where she really laid out there how distraught her mom was because although we all by common sense know a woman would be it was important to tell it like it was jokes aside. They were honest classy and amazing women and the fact that her mom literally passed a week after her was so heartbreaking but very telling of the love they had for one another. Great women.

Wishful Drinking is very entertaining to read/listen to. Some of the stories she tells there are surreal. The book is witty, funny and well told. Especially Cary Grant acid lectures. I cried with tears. Her moms bio is fun too. She said that she never slept alone...until she got married.

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher were very bitter towards Elizabeth Taylor for many years, while I was growing up. They all came to realise that Eddie Fisher wasn't worth it. That's what brought the three ladies closer towards the end. Eddie was the homewrecker. However, Carrie once said Hollywood threw him and Debbie together as they thought they would make a sweet, wholesome couple. Carrie also said they should never have got together. Hollywood wanted their marriage to work, but in Eddie's eyes, it was probably a publicity stunt that went too far. Apparently he was already in love with Liz Taylor. I don’t remember what those name plates said, but that little drawing changed my life. It has been fifteen or twenty years and one of my anxiety go-to’s is to play “awkward dinner party” with myself or a friend. I’ll just pick a human and put them by another human (or talking animal, living or dead, real or a fairy tale) who would fundamentally disagree with them the most, or be put off by them, or sometimes probably have the greatest conversation ever... Bottom line is that if you ask anyone who has famous parents what is was like, they will answer, " He (she) was my Mom (Dad). Nothing else to be said. I can absolutely confirm this from personally speaking to the kids of the rich and famous. They really don't have a clue that their lives are in any way remarkable until they get much much older.
Debbie's (...and Eddie's) son Todd Fisher is still alive. He has remained under the radar for most of his life, deliberately, from what I understand - and one can hardly blame him. He appeared in an interview memorializing his mother and his sister, which was very touching and well done. He seems to be an intelligent man whose head is on straight. I certainly wish him well.

@Marjo First of all, Eddy had the hots for Elizabeth when Mike was still alive. He admitted that. Eddy took advantage of her pain. When Mike died she was destroyed. She said later that, stupid as that sounds, she was trying to bring back Mike with his best friend. Eddy took total advantage of her state of mind. The whole thing was Eddy's fault.
@Marjo You don't know for sure what went on, no one really does. But people are always eager to pick one side and they get hung up on that and close their minds to anything else. Love, loneliness, close sympathy, can lead to sometimes where it shouldn't lead, but no one but the parties themselves really know what was in their hearts!

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher were very bitter towards Elizabeth Taylor for many years, while I was growing up. They all came to realise that Eddie Fisher wasn't worth it.
That's what brought the three ladies closer towards the end.
Eddie was the homewrecker. However, Carrie once said Hollywood threw him and Debbie together as they thought they would make a sweet, wholesome couple. Carrie also said they should never have got together. Hollywood wanted their marriage to work, but in Eddie's eyes, it was probably a publicity stunt that went too far. Apparently he was already in love with Liz Taylor. She even converted to Judaism for him.

Once, and I’m sad to say I don’t know the writer and I wish I did but maybe the internet can help me, in a The Believer Magazine, an artist had made a drawing called “awkward dinner party” and it was just this course line drawing of nameplates of the weirdest people you’d ever sit beside each other. I don’t remember what those name plates said, but that little drawing changed my life. It has been fifteen or twenty years and one of my anxiety go-to’s is to play “awkward dinner party” with myself or a friend. I’ll just pick a human and put them by another human (or talking animal, living or dead, real or a fairy tale) who would fundamentally disagree with them the most, or be put off by them, or sometimes probably have the greatest conversation ever... I’m pretty sure Carrie Fisher spent her life doing that in real time.

The kids grew up knowing nothing was different from any other family. It was completely "normal" for them at that time. Whatever happened subsequently is down to the individuals. Bottom line is that if you ask anyone who has famous parents what is was like, they will answer, " He (she) was my Mom (Dad). Nothing else to be said. I can absolutely confirm this from personally speaking to the kids of the rich and famous. They really don't have a clue that their lives are in any way remarkable until they get much much older.

Debbie's (...and Eddie's) son Todd Fisher is still alive. He has remained under the radar for most of his life, deliberately, from what I understand - and one can hardly blame him. He appeared in an interview memorializing his mother and his sister, which was very touching and well done. He seems to be an intelligent man whose head is on straight. I certainly wish him well.
