I'm old enough go have seen ROTJ in the theater in 1983.
I was in the line at the theater with my friends to see it for the first time. The people who were in the showing before mine came out when the movie ended and walked right by my friends and me. We asked them what happens in the movie, and one of them said, "Chewbacca dies".
We were shocked to hear that, and spent the whole movie waiting for Chewie to die. We were both relieved and disappointed when he didn't.

I was 5 when Star wars was in the cinema, I queued up with my mum watched the film n rejoined the queue to see it again, the queue was 200/300mts from the doors, all together I seen SW over 300 times at the cinema, part of my childhood was riding the crest of the wave that SW was and it lasting to this very day .

It was obvious they have a lot of range too just as much as ford.... hollywood is just discriminative pretty much towards actors *they think will garner more seats when clearly it's always about the characters, not the face. plus mark was still pretty good looking or just as good looking as ford back then,
and carrie was obviously beautiful n hot so there was no excuse. these actors always deserved better.

She has always doubted her body, doubted her beauty, as evidenced in all her self-deprecating statements across the years. My God in heaven......if she had any idea.....Carrie....you have been eternally branded onto the heart and soul, the adoration and desire of generations of men around the *entire* world. And it's not ONLY for beauty, but for the courage and will your character embodied. Not since Marilyn Monroe have so many hearts burned with passion and praise toward a woman as toward you. Even to *this day* you are praised by countless millions of men whom would rather spend a day alongside you than any other starlet in hollywood. I guarantee this beyond all doubt.

The corporate PR machine is so much more in control now. My iPad battery is down to 5% so I’ll cut this short. One of my biggest regrets in like is I had a chance to meet her sometime around 2009- 2012 at a Comic-Con event but there was a 2 hour line wait. I love her books her wit is badass. Ok down to 3%.. what sad is she never went into singing as a side profession she is a natural like her dad.. a rare instance of her singing a song is on a episode of Laverne and Shirley. Hard to imagine just how long ago this was in a city far far away. RIP Carrie you were one of the original strong Female leads that was also able to do that while keeping your femininity, one of the greats!
Mark Hamill is great and makes me laugh when he refers to Star Wars as something wasn't taken seriously, it was only the biggest movie in the World and Ever at the time. Little did he know he'd become not only a legend but one of (I said one of, not THE) the most recognized characters in film history.

Good freaking God----back in the day, Carrie Fisher was sexxxy as hell. Yeah, she may have that "girl next door" look----but *that* is exactly the reason as to why I find her *so* hot. No one pulled off that look like Carrie Fisher. To me, the girl next door look is the equivalent to how most men drool over the supermodel type (something I don't find attractive *at all* ). Christie Brinkley is the only exception. But, she kind of has the girl next door look going on, doesn't she? So, we're right back to where we started.

Sorry.........I think that's rank bullshit. the difference;is that today, the loud obnoxious actors, get a lot more press than they did back in the day[No TMZ,then]. there have always been;quiet, loud, and in between persons in the acting biz. In fact, many old Hollywood people, were renowned pathological narcissist's,as well. I'd not put Carrie in that category,i think she was a doll,as i'm sure you'd agree.

Pitiful how many people in below comments are determined to rag on her drug use/problems and want to say she's high in this old Letterman interview.
If you watch some of her early interviews from back in 1977 when the original Star Wars was coming out, she is the exact same person, with the same vocal delivery, same nuanced/self-deprecating humor.
In other words, all you who are determined to make her into a coked-out/pain killer wrecked animal here can bite it. She is a lovely lady with great class and a self-possessed character.
Some here may not realize she is the daughter of Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. She grew up around Hollywood class/charisma and had to do nothing by way of "putting on" or being someone other than who she is - the daughter of Hollywood/show business royalty.
I thought she came across very well in this old clip; sober, mature beyond her years (she's maybe 25 years old) and very funny.
So: For all you guys who think you know something dirty about her, I don't know who you are or where you came from, but from now on, you're going to do as Carrie tells you; okay?
