Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for more!
Thanks so much. As a new C300 owner I was wondering how hard this would be. Now I see it’s not too bad.
I had to trade in my wife's BMW because it was too "basic" for her. She got a new W205 yesterday so time to learn how to unsnap MB plastic stuff now. Will be tuning in. Thank you!
In all honestly, your wife definitely made a good choice. The C class is by far Mercedes most reliable model, and is overall a fantastic car! It may seem like the maintenance is a lot of work, but compared to other cars (even regular American cars) they are not bad at all!
Awesome video! That interior cabin filter looks like it'll cause quite a few cuss words to come rolling out my mount when I get to doing that one. The others look super easy. By the way, thanks for showing what all you put into your maintenance log. I plan on doing my own maintenance to this vehicle to help keep our cost of ownership down, but don't want the dealer to give me any grief when bringing it in for warranty work.
I’m glad you like the video! I’ve had zero grief about bringing in for warranty work but I have all my ducks in a row!
Durbin, you are one seriously squared away Marine. Thank you for including the bit on the Pass Down Book and how you keep your logs. Seriously good shit, Sir.
Thanks for the help with the cabin air filter! You made my life easier and my wife happy her AC doesn’t stink anymore. Sincerely, Jacob
Next time you replace the filter, spray a little AC evaporator coil spray on the evaporator coil (looks like a mini radiator) back in there and let it sit/dry, then install the new filters. That spray will help kill any bacteria or mold (or what-not) that has found its way onto the coil. A can of it is only like $8-10 and is probably good for 2 jobs.
When doing under dash filter I pulled carpet back some and filter goes in real easy
That’s what she said lok
Hello, thank you so much for this video. Just for others: there is a big plastic hook behind the cover, for the cabin filter (inside). In the video, this hook is already broken. Mine was not, and it was very less easy to remove this cover. So be careful! I don’t have broken the hook but because of pulling without understanding, the plastic is now white at its base. So it will break at next change I suppose 😄
Also, the filter in the engine bay was the good part (Mann-filter) but the inside one was not (compatible but not the same). I don’t know who is the OEM for this one, there is no brand printed on the MB original filter, it seem to be an original part from MB, not from an OEM.
If you have the MANN cabin filter the little flap doesn't go to the right but to the top for a correct install. (as shown in the instructions that come with the filter)
When I purchased my new (used)17 c300, I got rid of the ok condition runflat tires and put some awesome riding goodyear comfort drives on them. 2 studs were way over torqued. I could not get it off with my impact gun. I needed a 3 foot breaker bar to take them off! It was insane! All the other studs were also way over torqued but my gun was able to get them off. Amazing how even a dealership with supposed certified techs are unable to follow proper torque specs.
Glad I found your channel!! My daughter just purchased a 2015 c300. She was worried about the high maintenance cost. So these videos will help me to help her save a lil money. Thanks for sharing the notes on your car, definitely will be doing that with hers. Thank you for the help!
Should be okay the 50k mile service is the priciest one transmission fluid change etc but I'm at 69k miles and she still trucking along I'm utterly shocked by how good it's been!
This was great....but after watching you do this with only one hand while filming, I realize you are super human and I think I'll just pay MB the $200 to change the filters. Keep the great videos coming!!
Love, love, love the book record you keep. I really wish I did that with all my vehicles. I will start doing that now. Thanks!!!!!🙏🏾
nice bro, i can do it myself now. in my country i need to pay about 70$ for this service. thanks so much
The Mann cabin air filter is smaller than the original filter from Benz. The Mann filter has a white foam barrier but the original is just a bigger filter rather than having the foam part.
Hey great vid but you put the cabin filter the wrong way. The foam part of the filter should be up, not sideways, its in the mann filter instructions inside the box. Thats why the old filter was crumpled, it was also sideways. But keep up the good work and sharing content!
Not necessarily. Its important to check two things: cut corner has to be on the right, and the air flow arrows - towards the engine.
For the Mann filter he defineitley did it wrong. m.th-cam.com/video/ryJe_AHl9e8/w-d-xo.html
No. For the Mann filter he definitely has it wrong. He could at least make a comment. I had to do it twice because of him. That's also why he was struggling to put the clip back in. He had it the wrong way.
Thank you so much for making this video, I have watched many other ones, and yours is the best! I had good laughs, too, during your great illustration 😂
Thanks for your video! It helped me to change 3 types filters in my car C180😊
The 2nd cabin filter was installed incorrectly, it was twisted.
The cabin filter is the hard one !
Saved me a pointless B service 😂. Any particular reason why you do not remove the carpet lining? States to remove in the directions I received with mine. Good job with the records too. I do something similar with my iPad.
I think the removal of the carpet is to assist in the angle it takes to insert the filter without bending it
At least they would put the filter in the right way at Mercedes...
Later in the video you step through your process for taking notes for vehicle history. Totally agree, but noticed one entry in particular “tires rotated front to back”. Your front and rear tires the same size? Our OEM tires are not so not able to rotate. Semper Fi!
Yes, I did rotate the tires front to back. The minimal offset on this set did not affect anything and no rubbing occurred. The tire shop will recommend a left to right rotate. I did it once, front to back and never decided to do it again.
Great vid thanks...that one cabin air filter looks brutal lol.... a spark plug replacement vid would be amazing for this c300

Hey sir, thank you so much for such a great video! It helped 100% and saved me lots of loot! Keep going brother! 👊🏾
Excellent view and explanation !!!
That cover for the cabin air filter is the death of me
Yes!! I did that bad boy with one hand for the video! I was sweating 😅
@@TheDurbinCompound I think it's made wrong way. Ribs are horizontally and squeezed by bottom cap so they should be vertically because the spoon is for squeezing not a ribs, then filter looks good after pulling off.. If you want it's easier to take carpet off first then filter comes oudside/inside easily. Have w205 and made this few days ago too after this video and video how to take off carpet from yt. And you don't need to squeeze and smash this filter. Really it's not ok. 😃
@@TheDurbinCompound It would be easier if you put it in the right way...old video I know but sheesh. Hilarious you go on for a whole minute about how important it is to do it right too. lmao.
Those kickpanel cabin filters suck! Lol On some kits they give you a new cover. We just reuse the old cover cause the new one never fits right and never locks in.
Yeah always an after thought for engineers, they don’t care about servicing. Like a heater core!
Nice vid, thank you and greetings from lockdown 🇦🇹!
Thank you very much that was a great video you helped me a lot
They told me $400😅🙄 So Im learning myself
Thanks, this is The best tutorial 💪 Gj
Hi! How often do you have to change the cabin dust filter? Thanks
1st cabinfilter every year…A Service
2nd filter every 2 years…B Service
Ty.Ur so precise what u do.Keep up good works my friend.👍👍
Fabulous Presentation!!!
As a long time mb master technician I complement you on a very good video, keep up your good work
I appreciate your comment brother!
But he puts the filter in the wrong way....and doesn't even bother to make a comment in the video description or annotation about it...If someone follows this video they'll do it wrong.
The cabin filter is not installed correctly, the ribs be vertical, in the manual of the car, it is well shown
Helpful video. Do you have a link to website you ordered the filters from?
Thanks , wasnt hard at all on my 2016 c300 took bout 15 min
Nice job!
@TheDurbinCompound hello i have a question, about secondary, in cabin air filter. I think it's installed wrong, but im not sure 100%. The ribs should be placed vertically not horizontally in w205 I think. When in my w205 i was changing this filter it was some days ago I've put it vertically. (This is better for me because if they are horizontally and you push it like on video with the cover of the filter you will smash the ribs so first rib will be too close to the next rib and again and again and again... which makes airflow worse I think.) If you put ribs vertically they will not be smashed because of the spoon on the top of the filter. When you push this filter to close bottom cover and spoon is to the top, then you smash and squeeze spoon because it's softer then ribs placed vertically. Squeezing ribs is not correct I think. :P Tell me please because I don't know who's wrong. You dude or me. But one of us made it wrong for sure but I Hope it's you. :D (dont blame me!) Please check this because I don't want to have air filter placed wrong way in my car to the end of it's life. Hahaha 😂
Would be good know which direction airflow goes. Towards it away from the blower ?
You‘re right, the second filter was installed rotated.
In this video can we try to disassemble the fan and clean?
Great video! Had no idea there was another filter for the cabin. We recently purchased a 2019 Benz C300 Base, 2.0 Turbo engine. I bought a new filter for engine, went to install and found that unlike in your video you show the engine air filter on passenger mine is on driver's side...in your video title it says Mercedes C300 W205...ok where do I find this w number.... I'm assuming your model is a 4matic whereas mine is a base model ... will VIN tell this technical information. any information will help thx
W205 is the platform number for C series from 2015-2022. C series from 2011-2014 was the W204, etc. the D series from the 80’s was a W123. It’s just another designation. Commonly used in Europe. Makes the video more searchable.
Can you make a video on how to do an oil change on a 2020 gle?
Sure, the GLE shares the M274 engine with the C class. I have done a video on that engine platform.
th-cam.com/video/sfUKnUvD8Hg/w-d-xo.html
Everything was straight foward except that passenger panel for the interior cabin filter is a bitch to put back on once you take it off. That rear back tab. I changed both cabin filters.
Hard work underneath to replace filter thanks
Thank you!
I have a 2013 MB C350 4-matic. I searched sites but I cannot find the filter from the blower motor. cabin filters are available but no parts store knows of a filter at the blower motor. Can you help me search for one online?
Awesome.thank you
Question...with the evap issues you had the dealer fix..what were the symptoms of the bad charcoal canister or etc? Smell of gas in the cabin area while driving?
No. Evap was simply a check engine light. Now if you’re smelling gas in the cabin at idle, you have a fuel line problem. I literally just went through this. The gas was “sweating” at the connections under the hood. Behind the engine, there is a fuel test port before the fuel line goes into the high pressure pump. I had the dealer replace the connectors for around $300. Parts included ($75). From what I could tell, the only way I would’ve been able to do it was being able to stand under the car. I couldn’t get to them from the top.
TheDurbinCompound oh man thank you ! Lol ...it had a few mechanics stumped because one minute you smell it and then the next minute you don’t ..also it seems to be only during cold weather I smell it
I got you! It literally doesn’t leak, it just kind of sweats like I said. From years of working on jets I know what to look for. The fuel lines looked like they had discoloring around the connections. The dealer agreed they needed replaced. It fixed my problem! By the way, I only saw the discoloring from under the car. I couldnt reach the connections to actually feel them.
I appreciate you subscribing to the channel! Hope you find value in my content going forward! Also be sure to check out all my C300 videos!
Great video thanks 🙏
Hey, great video. I have a question though, when I pulled out the air filter located underneath the glove box from my 2016 c300, the filter pleats were vertical, instead of horizontal like most videos I saw on TH-cam, including yours. I have been servicing my car at the dealership. Could they have put it in the wrong way?
How often should you change your filters? I’ve had my car for 2years now and I think I’ve only had the Service A done. I’ve just reached 22000 miles.
God bless you..thanks
Thanks for sharing
I did thanks to you 👏👏👏
How bad is it if I pure break fluid in the power steering container in C300 urgently need a reply
Can you provide a rough time estimate for changing all 3 filters in the C Class W205.
30 minutes for a first timer
@@TheDurbinCompound thanks a lot for your reply. Also what should be the Kms before changing the filters? My C class has done 20,000 Kms.

Good video. Thank you.
Very helpful
Do you remember what's the size of the torx screw you used? Thanks
Note......move the carpet forward......do not squish the filter.
How often do I change the carbon filter in my c300 mercedes benz
Man I need you on my team contact me they say if you hang around slackers you will slack and if you hang around people who inspire well you know..... Anyhow hit me up and keep putting out great content like this. Very detailed 👌 #bestshitonthenet
I replaced the OEM combination filter(under-hood, air-intake) today by myself with a febi bilstein cabin filter. I noticed that the OEM one has some light black coat on it, not sure whether it is the activated carbon coating or just dirty (but it looks like not dirty since not obvious big stuff chunk in there)? But I am certain that the febi bilstein cabin filter does not have light black coat on it so it appears totally white. Anyone had experience on replacing the combination filter(under-hood, air-intake) by themselves and could you please tell me whether the OEM one has carbon coating? I am sure that the inside filter(at blower housing) has the carbon coating but idk about the under-hood one. If the under-hood one does have carbon coating then I may purchase a new OEM one.
Also, anyone has idea about the quality of febi bilstein cabin filters?
Thank you all in advance.
Good topic to bring up. The OEM Mann filter that I used in the video was completely white. No coating on it.
@@TheDurbinCompound Thanks. Then I will keep using my febi bilstein cabin filter to see the quality.
Oorah!!!
It happened on the driver side only when I turn the steering wheel left and right, the noise is not too loud but any one can hear them.
I open the driver door and push my hand power on the window, the noise is the same noise. But the passenger side is good.
When I jump the car higher the wheel is on the air, and turn the steering wheel => The noise gone, no more noise
I let the shop checked it, they have no glue on my issue, they checked the arm, the low ball joint, the suspension, then they said the rubber seal is good and not leaking oil. Nothing to do.
I change the tire side to side, but the noise is still alive.
I thought wheels were staggered on this car ??
They are
how often need these filters to be replaced?
Airfilter every 4 years.
1st cabinfilter every year.
2nd cabinfilter every 2 years.
Semper Fidelis
Nice video, thanks. Now why MB will design something so stupid like this is behind my imagination. Such an archaic design, especially from a luxury car manufacturer like MB. As an engineer myself, I would be ashamed if this was my design. And I think this is the same design inmost C and E class MBs, maybe the same for their other designs. Thanks again for sharing this video.
Не той стороной поставил фильтр 😢
I broke off the hook clip in the glove box when reinstalling it. It’s really easy to break. It is not shown in the video. What a stupid design, I pretty much did it out of spite.
Yank the carpet down. It'll move
What size is this damn screw on the left 😡
The screw that you skipped taking out is almost impossible to get out. Is that why you skipped it? Show everything next time.
I’ll stay with Lexus all day long. To be clear, Lexus manufactured in Japan.
Oh man I don’t wanna do all that lmao
I cringed watching this clip thinking that many plastic parts are going to be broken.
A car made by the same country that makes saurkraut yet this car has to be the opposite of simplicity smh 🥸🙊🙈🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦🏿
“It’s important how the filter goes in. Don’t screw this up”
Immediately screws it up in the video…c’mon man.
God I would never use an impact driver on that $1200 piece of plastic, that’s cringe worthy… 8 extra seconds of work to drive them by hand for me…. it’s pretty insane it draws the cabin air from right over the battery…
........
german fucked up design....i dont think you put the cover back correctly for the a/c filter......germans design junks..remember..i know im working on them every day..horrible cars but good for making money...LOL
Thanks so much. Great video.
Thank you!
