This gentleman's technique is amazing. I have never seen "thumbing down", (I think it is called,) like that. And then he has to wear different coloured socks so he knows which foot is which! (only kidding) A stunning performance. Well done.
It's a very common thing to "thumb down" but if you abuse the technique you could damage your hands.

Je ne sais pas si Dieu existe ... personne pourra me le prouver ! Mais Bach est la preuve vivante que l'homme a une part divine en lui. Et Bach est pratiquement un Dieu à lui seul, un Dieu vivant . il m'apporte la sérénité, le bonheur , le réconfort dont j'ai besoin. comment ne pas lui être reconnaissant. Grâce à lui, et malgré tout ce que l'on voit, je peux croire en l'homme.

Je suis stupéfait par la qualité de cette transcription, par la pureté de son interprétation et depuis bien longtemps par le génie de JS Bach. Mon enfance a été bercée par Pierre Cochereau et l'orgue de Notre Dame. Quant on a sept ans et que le dimanche (lorsqu'il était là) mon père nous emmenait à la tribune l'écouter. Tout était impressionnant à commencer par l'escalier d'accès qui pour des jambes de 7 ans était difficile. La vue sur la nef, le clavier (Cavaillé-Col), le gigantesque mécanisme derrière et Pierre qui était imposant ne serait-ce que par sa stature. Merci et bravo pour cette interprétation et son partage.

la capacità di Righetti di declamare le varie voci ( notare la splendida indipendenza della mano destra nelle due voci alla terza e quarta tastiera) è straordinaria, e poi la celestiale musica di Bach non può che commuovere. Cosa si può dire alla fine di questo brano ? Che bisogna stare solo in silenzio e sentirsi piccoli piccoli di fronte a cotanta grandezza.
Se proprio volessi trovare un qualcosa di secondo me migliorabile è la voce del contralto, che mi sembra a volte poco percepibile; l'avrei un attimo rinforzata, pur lasciando all'oboe la meravigliosa voce del soprano. Ma forse è un problema anche della registrazione; dal vivo magari è diverso.
La realtà è che Righetti è un talento straordinario, e che ha trasformato un capolavoro in un altro capolavoro.

Un des plus beaux passages de la Passion selon Saint Matthieu, mais difficile à retranscrire à l'orgue. Il faut écouter la version avec la merveilleuse Christa Ludwig. Cela dit, cet organiste est étonnant, par moment, il joue sur trois claviers à la fois et il utilise le pédalier sans chaussures, mais en chaussettes. Peut être a t il ainsi un contact plus charnel avec l'extrême grave. J'aimerais l'entendre dans d'autres oeuvres de Bach, cela doit être magnifique.

Man, this is a piece that could take weeks to work out a really good registration. I tried the opening bars on my small North German voiced Casavant. It was hopeless. No reg worked. Needs a good romantic organ.

Landon Durrant expresses my thoughts and high regard beautifully! Two manuals per hand takes lots of learning and adds so much to the musicality. Socks enable tactile contact with the pedals...a benefit, I believe.
I spent days listening to different interpretations of this piece. I was moved by each one of them, but I kept searching as if I hadn't yet found it. Now my search is over. I'm in piece.
