Try out my attempt to make chess romantic again please.
This is a variant that doesn't change a lot of rules like the fisher variant.
I call it opposite-castled chess:
- White king start in front of the black queen. White queen start in front of the black king.
- The position is asymetrical from the start.
- Black short castle on the left. White short castle on the right.
- Long castle is prohibited.
Every game becomes an opposite castle affair by design!
I tested it a lot with stockfish, it's completely ok (0.2 advantage for white) and exactly as exciting as it looks like.
You cannot avoid complications and at the same time the positions you get looks a lot like normal chess position.
Anyway hope you give it a try with friends, It's a very serious variant that forces you to attack.
