She is honoring Russo's sacrifice to give his life for the girl.
Neagley is wonderfully written. Smart, strong, with quirks. But is written naturally. You know she's female without the writers constantly give her lines that shove the fact in our face with cringe "girl power" quips. And it's refreshing to see the buddy relationship between her and Reacher with no romantic tones to it. And the actress was perfect for this role. I'd be interested in a solo spin off of her as long as they kept the same vibe going.
Girl power has become boring...EVERY chick in a movie knows martial arts and can beat up any man regardless of his training, I like the novels where reacher was alone in a small town and gets involved in an injustice. This "team" thing didn't work for me--had to fast forward quite a bit.
Please overlook my rudeness. The lead character's name is REACH-er, not RICH-er.

Ai narrators are so annoying. On one of the aita videos they actually pronounced a hole as aholy. If they can't get it right leave it to the humans.
As much as I love this series, I hate it what they/the authors did with Russo. Aside the fact that a highly likeable chartacter portrayed by an amazing actor was killed, his downfall was sloppily written. It made absolutely no sense for him to heroically present himself in the line of fire when he knew that back up was just about to arrive. And then when he lay dying, not one of these highly trained investigators thought of applying pressure to his wound to stem the blood loss. The screenwriters could have done so much more. I have not read the books so I was desperately hoping that Russo would pull through and seeing that he had confronted his boss about corruption and Reacher having lost half of his crew, I would so have loved to see Russo join the team.

Russo had no idea of back up time one mag left with 12 shots and hadn't fired in 45 secs which gives the impression of being out of Ammo unfortunately this was the only choice with the information he had. If he stayed the enemy had superior fire position covering angles. 3 vs 1. Eventually one would push one would hold one would flank if they ran they shot in the back. If they stay he either gun down by a lucky shot or run out of ammo and then the girl is stuck watching a man die she freezes best case scenario dies looking at the gun or dies running . Twelve shots the best course of action is send the girl away. You push the enemy taking out at least one making you a major threat and you go down fighting at the very least she gets away and hides you buy time and girl may make it safe. So from a combat standpoint what would you do
Neagley: “you should try one sometime, you look like a First-Person Shooter.”
Reacher: “I AM a First-Person Shooter.”

Not just his hand, she put his head in her lap and caressed is bald head...I was crying so hard..two moments to punctuate the episodes ending..Russo's death and Nealgey's touching of another human being..double clutch..

Neagley would of overcome her adversion for any of the 110th Special...... Russo earned his way into the photo...... Neagley stepped up for a comrade in arms when he needed it most.
i thought the same, it didn't look to me like he was gonna die. like he could recover from shots are those spots and it would be weird to kill him like that when he has basically build a relationship with Reacher. he will just be out of action for the rest
There is also a bit in the trailer, which hasn't happened yet where OD and dixon are captured strapped to gurneys and superficial injuries, OD is calm dixon is super pissed. which could suggest her 'deal' with the bad guys was void.
I've rewatched this episode multiple times...when Dixon is stabbed on the gurney, it looked like the switchblade went between her arm and the gurney..and then she started kicking and protesting when Reacher saw them both being brought out ..and Swan, in my opinion, wouldn't be involved in the murdering of his fellow military crew..I am really looking forward to things wrapping up and that Langston fly like a vulture, straight to Hell..and A.M. is killed with a SAM..and then we wait for Season 3..Neagley will survive, Reacher will survive and the guys from Lavoy will be collateral damage witch will lead to an investigation of the Congressman..yes, the ending should be really goid..

Man, everything with Russo is such bullshit. That entire time, does he not have a fucking radio or the ability to call dispatch and call every fucking unit in the city to pour into his location or meet at a spot?!?!?! The last episode with the chase from the funeral was the same thing. You are cops, your advantage is numbers, he didnt call anyone to a mass shooting event at a funeral or for the chase. And again with this. I get it, for the show, he had to sacrifice himself, but damnit, it was so dumb. He had to hold out for 30 more seconds and the decision he made literally got the kid almost killed. Its crazy how bad he was at being a cop.
I still really love this show. I love the special investigators. I would like to have seen them ambush people way better than that. Reacher ambushed those two hitman last season in the field with almost no time to prepare and much more stress.
Apparently, he didn't even have lights and sirens on his vehicle, either. Last season was more true to the Lee Child book it was based upon. This season, the writer has taken more poetic license in trying to adapt the book from the time it was written to the modern, more electronic age. Still, the failures by Russo to call for backup without explaining his possible distrust of just what cops are also on the take (like his captain) is something of an oversight.

@francargeric1 in that situation he'd be calling dispatch and ANY car available for backup. Exactly how many cops has New Age paid off? Why would they have like EVERY cop paid off in some random part of NYC when it wasn't even remotely needed for their plan.
I’m on episode 5 of #Reacher and the shootout by the trucks was lazy, sloppy and just really dumb. I audibly gave a sigh and said “oh my god” when Neagley and Dixon are calmly walking towards a man (running away) casually spraying rounds from an SMG in their direction.
An awesome and touching moment.
I love learning something new every day, and that gave me that ah ha moment.
For those who don't know, Maria Sten (a.k.a. Neagley) is a Danish actress who was chosen Miss Universe Denmark and competed in the Miss Universe Pageant for Denmark in 2008. Sorry, dunno how she placed.

I would have felt so much better about this commentary if the narrator had pronounced Reacher's name correctly.

Hey, give a shout out if anyone else thinks Dixon is the one behind everything?….didn’t it seem peculiar that she offered to kill Swan(which coincidentally is the real last name of the actress playing Dixon)so Reacher wouldn’t have to?…It’s not as if Reacher would have any reservations about bodying a traitor who got his friends killed. It’s seems like she wants to smoke him to keep Reacher or anyone else from talking to him. And they do know that a woman set them up but it wasn’t Marlo Burns, who they tracked down and found out that she was working with Swan to expose the people involved and that he was clean all along. So, if she didn’t set them up, what other woman did?…Also, this might be overkill but when I checked out the cast on Google, the thumbnail photos that display the actor’s name and the character they play only showed the name of the actress playing Dixon…The character’s name is missing. I keep wondering if this is because they might want to keep people from associating the actor( I’m told actress is no longer PC)playing the part with the name Swan, who everyone was wrong about because it’s the actor who play’s Dixon’s actual last name. Or maybe I’m just thinking too hard.

As this is all new stuff for me ( not being an avid reader of anything in my old age) , i wait patiently for the next weeks instalment and on occasion watch recaps such as this.
The last episode left it open regarding Ruso living or not, adding more suspense for the next one, but this recap tells us he dies, no other recap i have seen has done this and i am bitterly disappointed that you have confirmed his demise as that was purposely left hanging for the next instalment.

I was not going to do this but, it drives me insane when narrators do not possess enough professionalism, to pronounce the main characters name right. Richer is not the main chacters name for God's sake, it's Reacher, just pretend that it's spelled: Reeecher!! Rant aside, the novels are phenomenal, I've read them all and you really can mix and match the order and not miss a beat. The novels written by his brother are not up to Lee's level and I am now reading The Killing Floor, for the 3rd time!

I really didn't care for this episode. Aside from the horrible writing for Russo, what about the part with the "gamer fuel" crap? No one says that. "I'm going to need gamer fuel." or something and then says the check the cabinets for cereals.. That is straight up someone who doesn't know how actual people who play games talk writing the dialog.
