I watched this video today, Sunday morning, and then went to the gym. I've been putting off doing the seated pulse training for the core and hip flexors. Other gymnasts like yourself don't enjoy doing it--but it's essential.
I couldn't do them properly, so I did one leg at a time, but with perfect form and as high as I could go with a slow eccentric phase. Three sets of 50. With dominant lower body weight, even that was excruciating. No driving for 10.5 years, and a huge amount of biking, walking and hiking. I anticipate about 1 month doing one leg at a time, making my form better and better each session.
Fantastic video as always! Much gratitude to you, your wife and the entire team.

I'm 80 now but starting at 70 I went the conventional training way with weights and my back cramps kept getting worse. Fortunately I had done gymnastics in high school and finally got rid of the barbells and started doing more bodyweight calisthenics. Every word that Lee Weiland says is true. We have so many weak points that need to be brought up to par with the rest of the body. I never realized what poor condition I was in until I tried to do a pullover or skin the cat on the high bar. They used to be soooo easy. Not any more. But now I do all my exercises even if I have to use assistance to go through the full range of motion. Like having my feet on a box while doing pullups and using my legs to help when needed.

As an old fat and ugly former beat up grunt who's job was to keep Marines in the fight (so they keep me alive) I completely agree with this. Miminal equipent you and pack in. On weak links. PTed since the last days of the Johnson Administration and seen what you are talking about. Just doing straight movements we lifters do is only part of the package.
This goes a long way toward injury prevention. Rebar is twisted inside of concrete. Concrete without rebar is much weaker. If PT was a nail you are the hammer.

So, you mentioned connective tissue. Do you have any advice for people with genetically bad connective tissue (Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome)? Would I do something different with that starting point?
