I watched this video today, Sunday morning, and then went to the gym. I've been putting off doing the seated pulse training for the core and hip flexors. Other gymnasts like yourself don't enjoy doing it--but it's essential. I couldn't do them properly, so I did one leg at a time, but with perfect form and as high as I could go with a slow eccentric phase. Three sets of 50. With dominant lower body weight, even that was excruciating. No driving for 10.5 years, and a huge amount of biking, walking and hiking. I anticipate about 1 month doing one leg at a time, making my form better and better each session. Fantastic video as always! Much gratitude to you, your wife and the entire team.
I really appreciate these videos where the focus is one overall development instead of just one aspect of fitness, gym and weight lifting are important but these exercises are equally important
Pulses seem like an overlooked tool. I’m gonna start using those exercises. I have all the basics down except the muscle up. V sit ups are about a 3 second hold 😂 Thanks Lee
Love the fruit of Spirit reference. "Preach everywhere you go. Use words only when necessary." I don't know you Lee, but I'm praying you continue in his grace and strength. Thank you!
Well hell, the core is why I arrived here, V-ups appear superior to what I have been doing, now if I could just get my traitor legs off the floor to do them. Doing work with my core was so much easier when using bad form and Percocet to protect my damaged areas. Excellent video, I love your style.

Hi Lee! this seems rather advanced.. I am interested in adding this type of dynamic to my workouts.. where do I start?? is there a beginner vid or vids? thanks brother, much love!
What lessons have you learned from your fitness journey? Your commitment to personal growth and self-improvement is truly profound. You are an inspiration❤💯
It's always good to return to the basic building blocks of flexibility and strength to reinforce what once was with a renewal to life. Patience and slow and steady progress is better than the future pain from impatience.
I'm 80 now but starting at 70 I went the conventional training way with weights and my back cramps kept getting worse. Fortunately I had done gymnastics in high school and finally got rid of the barbells and started doing more bodyweight calisthenics. Every word that Lee Weiland says is true. We have so many weak points that need to be brought up to par with the rest of the body. I never realized what poor condition I was in until I tried to do a pullover or skin the cat on the high bar. They used to be soooo easy. Not any more. But now I do all my exercises even if I have to use assistance to go through the full range of motion. Like having my feet on a box while doing pullups and using my legs to help when needed.
This kind of training make you stronger, it's a fact. You have guys whom can deadlift five-hundred pounds but can't even managed his bodyweight. There are people who believed that they are strong but this type of training proved to them that they are weak.If you mastered this type of training you become a super human like a shoaling monk.
Thank you for sharing this. Do you have a program I can add into my weight training? Those skills and abilities are important to me as well. I really respect your style of training and strength but I'm a meathead at heart and would love to keep training with my weights and Strongman implements.
People often overlook this type of exercise. Because I did stuff like this in my teens and 20's, I was able to do things that were impressive to even my Amatuer Competition Powerlifting friends.
I've been running for decades, but I cant sit on the floor and hold out a single leg in front of me for 20 seconds without severe shaking. Let alone both, or even dream of L-sitting. I will try this pulsing.
This is amazing thank you. How might I apply this to rehabing my shoulder? Got a small tear in my shoulder anterior delt. Can't push up or forward at all. I'm subscribing for ever! Best wishes. J from England, UK
Please pray for me as I try to strengthen my body for the first time since partially dislocating both shoulders 4 years ago, this video gave me the motivation to try again in a long time
Hi Lee, I am a former martial artist and all around athlete that has a nagging injury to my lower back/hip area. I tried doing the seated pulses and I just can't, which is both frustrating and sad. Do you have any advice/instruction for modifying the exercise or working up to it using another movement. Looking forward to your response.
Would need to know more but my response will be a bit longer than I usually post... My initial thought is honestly to just go harder and don't think about it Thinking about it makes you favor it and it goes in a circle Anyway, please DO NOT take this as Gospel or coaching...it was just a thought I'd share
I like to say that I have want too do build up to skills work over 6 years ago I was tried of big fitness the one thing I like to ask you about back then when I did straddle lifts my quad muscle would burn so much I hat to stop is that these muscle are tried or are they just so weak thank you
Lol, i was yelling at the screen in agreement about physical therapy NOT getting the job done properly!! I end up doing my own physical therapy now, its gotten so out of hand not getting people to 💯! Thank you for your work!
I have been wanting to get back into MA training, but I am older and experiencing some issues like inflammation in my knee when throwing kicks with intensity and ankle popping. Will pulse training help to resolve issues with weight-bearing joints and allow me to train again?
@LeeWeiland could this be done in the morning for example if training is usually done in the evening? Or would these excercises replace a workout session
As an old fat and ugly former beat up grunt who's job was to keep Marines in the fight (so they keep me alive) I completely agree with this. Miminal equipent you and pack in. On weak links. PTed since the last days of the Johnson Administration and seen what you are talking about. Just doing straight movements we lifters do is only part of the package. This goes a long way toward injury prevention. Rebar is twisted inside of concrete. Concrete without rebar is much weaker. If PT was a nail you are the hammer.
So, you mentioned connective tissue. Do you have any advice for people with genetically bad connective tissue (Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome)? Would I do something different with that starting point?
I live in France. But i would love to be present at one of your course ! Is there any chance to have an event in France? Or are you planning to train new teachers to spread your method in other countries?? 🙏
