    Personally, I don't have thousands burning a hole in my pocket. Videos like this are why I'm here. I'll listen to anyone who has taken the time to do me a favor. Thanks Clay, for helping those of us that appreciate your efforts!

    Thank you, Chris. Your video inspired me to tackle my Magnavox 32" LCD with sound, channels but no picture. I ordered the replacement inverter board from an Ebay seller. It took all of 10 minutes to put the inverter board in and power it up. It was that easy. Good as new!

    I just carried out the same repair on my 32" Toshiba which also lost picture but had sound. I went on Ebay and brought master and slave inverters from China for £30, and the TV is working again. Brilliant. Thank you for posting solution.

    By switching to Clay Whitehead I just saved a bunch of money by not buying a new LCD. You my friend are the reason why there is still hope for this planet. I have a Sony Bravia KDL model that had sound but no pic last week.I searched this issue in the matrix (Google) and your video was the first I clicked on so you will be getting all the credit. followed your instructions to a tee. Now I am the man in my house. I bought my inverter board on ebay for $30. Bless you ...

    Good video! Also, a side note, if you're handy at soldering, capacitors blow from time to time also and they are even cheaper than a whole board. Just find the rating on the side of the cylinder for the cap that has a broken/bubbled up top, and replace it with one of same rating.

    I arrived at home from work , took the remote to turn on the TV, heard only sound coming out no picture black screen. Go figure everyone was gone, so I am on the computer only to find your instructional video, I get it my family took initiative to research how to troubleshoot and fix the TV. I'm not mad just surprised, but happy that someone is doing something at least trying to find a way to fix it. Thanks to your video Clay on youtube "LCD Easy Fix"........

    Good tips. Mine goes out and comes back. Now it seems to finally be totally out. Sounds still works well. Never heard a pop. We would hit the back of tv and the picture would come back. I think something may be loose. I will access these boards tho and make sure everything well connected. Thanks!

  • @Josephthinleg
    @Josephthinleg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey! I have a question for you, would the picture come back on for awhile after turning the TV off and back on with your TV? Or did yours just go out and stay out? My Friend has one that is starting to turn off randomly (but it still has sound), just goes to a black screen. But if she restarts it works again for awhile. She said it's starting to do it about once a day now. Again it still has sound but no picture. I told her to shine a flashlight up close to see if she can see a picture, (as that would indeed mean it is the inverter board) I'm just waiting to hear back from her. Anyways just curious if your TV did the same thing before it went completely out. Also, thanks for the tip about the black prong and tiny hole, I didn't know that. I suppose you could just replace that, but that looks like a bitch to solder LOL!

    • @LumpsPlays
      @LumpsPlays 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Josephthinleg this exact same thing is happening with my samsung, i actually just posted a video on youtube for the service request I submitted. Still haven't heard back from them. I can confirm the screen completely shuts off, not just the backlight--nothing is enabled the screen may as well be shut off (cuz it basically is)

    • @Josephthinleg
      @Josephthinleg 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply Lumps Plays. It was the power board. She didn't tell me the sound was on a separate sound system, lol! I didn't know that, and that's why I was baffled, (I assumed she was using the TV speakers). Normally that would be bad capacitors in this situation, but I took the back off and turned it on and saw it sparking in a certain spot on the power board. There was a loose transistor, and all i needed to do was re-solder it back in. The board was slightly blackened were it was sparking, again, normally this cause would be some bad Caps, normally 4 caps that are bad on TV's from my experience, you can normally tell as they are all bulged up on the top. pretty cheap too about .50 cents to a buck each, I always get mine at Digikey, but make sure to get the Panasonic gold striped ones if possible as they last much longer. Hope this helps someone!

    • @LumpsPlays
      @LumpsPlays 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josephthinleg My tv actually...fixed itself? I placed it in the backroom and watched a spare 30 inch I had sitting around...then tried it again a week later just because I was still upset it broke. It's worked fine ever since.
      Got me. All I can figure is maybe something with the echo sensor was bugging out, and needed a good long sit. I had even tried a factory reset before, though and it still did it. *shrugs* I'm sure I'll never know lol.

    Great video! I have a Vizio 47", there is sound but no picture. If I shut off the lights and shine a flashlight from an angle on the screen, I can see a very faint picture. Do you think this suggests that the T Con board is bad rather than either inverter board?

    Ok on the inverter board on the left side there is a black chip, I think I pointed it out in the video. Check that chip out really well, maybe even with a magnifying glass. If there is no burnt pin then check all your capacitors for a bulge. Thank you for watching!

    Hi Chris...Thank you, you also inspired me to fix my own. I have the same tv but in a 47". I researched for a week online opened it up and found I had a bad capacitor that was blown. It cost me $2.00. I put it back together and it worked but I am seeing that the left side is a little darker then the right. Any ideas?
    Again thank you,

    The inverter boards I purchased from retechtv.com. I would change both and save the one that is still good for a spare. In the video I kinda explain where to look on the circuit board to see the burnt pin but because of video quality it is hard to see. Just look really close and you will find the problem. Thank you for watching!

    thank you so much for this video! i have a lcd samsung t.v. that went black a few months ago and ive been wanting to fix it myself instead of forking over my entire wallet for a new t.v. or paying for repairs from someone else. i will take a second look again and try to find a black/defective pin on the boards.
    thank you again! this is very to the point and helpful.

    You will need to purchase your primary inverter and secondary inverter and you can install them yourself. Just go to retechtv.com and look up your tv. Thank you for watching!

    On mine it was a blown pin. You could see it was different than the other pins and it had black all over it. When they say the back light it usually means the inverter boards. They are what drive the lights. Thank you for watching!

    If you're within the warranty I suggest contacting support fast! Same thing happened to my tcl. Got in contact with them and they're sending a technician to fix with no cost.

    Hi Clay, thanks for your video explanation. We followed the instructions, but the inverter boards look good. I wonder if you have any ideas. Btw we did not hear a pop when it failed. Sound, no picture, but black screen one side immediately prior to total failure. I know it's a long shot, but if you have any pointers, it would be greatly appreciated. Eoin

      It is possible a capacitor is bad. Check all of them for a bulge or burnt marks. The other possibility is the T-Con board. The symptom for this is a very dim picture, check for this with lights off in a very dark room. Thank you for watching!

    Hi Clay. Nice video, I am experiencing the same problem on my older LG model.
    However when I open it, I do not have the same inside as you, I have the board you have on the left side, but the unit on the right side is just not there.
    The board on the left side has 2 dark blue cilinder shaped units, both have 2 connected attached on the board, on one of these cilinders one of the connectors to the board has a clearly noticable darker color than the other three. Replace the board?
