- Enjoy the sound of T56, a Swedish motor torpedo boat. Built in 1957 and equipped with three (3) Isotta Fraschini CRM 18D/SS W18-cylinder engines. 57 liters turbo diesel and 1650 HP in each engine gives a total of near 5000 HP. Not bad! Top speed is around 50 knots. Video is a little bit shaky, but the sound is good. Turn up your speakers and enjoy!

Synchronicity of turbines and large displacement diesel engines gives goosebumps
had to watch it again, freeking awesome
@@exodustwelve2044
Hairs were standing up on the back of my neck… 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Theres no sinchronicity lol
That is brutal. Would love a ride on that!
This is the definition of raw torque!!
Big Diesel engines blowing lots of smoke! I Love it!
Greta Thunbergs favourite boat
I remember my time on a Fast Petrol Boat of the German Navy as Mechanic with 16.000hp (24.000hp) - it is unfortualtely a while ago.
When your mouse is resting on the table but still shows movement on your screen!, can't get enough of this sound.
I like how it sounds like it idles at 3 rpm, then he hits the throttle and it’s clearly running 400 psi boost!!
It was at this point Sam wished he had accepted the earmuffs. What a beautiful sound!
Wonderful! Perfect for a trip out to Sandhamn.
What a sound.
10:00 started nuttin' on the screen, love that turbo wind up.
This is real diesel power
Pretty bad ass sound , start up & acceleration - 👍
brutal sound and power :D
AWESOME i all I can say. Congrats. fellow's for getting these boats up an runnin.
I love listening to a fire breathing dragon it's music to my ears
Amazing . The sound , the turbo , the PT Boat in a League of there own ..
the whole city can smell when they leave
Its a Symphoni worty a trophy my good i love that turbo sound
Fantastic ! Please more
Absolutely Gor-geous!
So damn cool
Brutal adult toy
After the trip the silence was deafening.
Now those engines have some big balls
Love it!
10:05 The best sound to my ears.....love hearing big damn turbos winding up.
Amazing machine
I went through Bagensstäket on a 30 m schooner in 2013 and found the passage... interesting :)
Now I need to have a go on that 😂😂 awesome!
Fascinating!!
I lived on one until I was 5 years old
As it got faster it got real smooth just raw power!
Just not something you see every day on the water, how cool!
Nice video! Engines almost sound like Detroits!
the Greatjon it has 3 isotta fraschini CRM 18D/SS engines inside.
Nice video :-)
Brutal power ❤ awsome
Звук дизеля вообще огонь 🔥
Rätta ljudet!!
this what the royal navy need to patrol the english channel
Must be sum buzz opening up the tapes💪💪💪
2 pcs Isotta frachini diesel a 2500 hp. Total 5000 hp.
Glorious
Boat is 75 feet long goes 60 mph that's impressive compare it to offshore racing boats generally about 50 feet long weight lot less. This torpedo boat can cut right though waves like nothing
Moving right along
Loves it
The engines seem to be hunting quite a lot
the humming/whine is the diesel turbochargers spooling up :)
@@dodhdhdfdffgdhfonhdh
Not humming! HUNTING on idle the revs rise and fall, rise, fall etc! 🙄
Big cam and huge capacity does that..
My old dad was a sailor said it was bad luck to whistle at sea , but he didn't say for who.
i know if i heard that sound coming at me were going from "the deep blue" to 'the deep brown" haha
@@dodhdhdfdffgdhfonhdh 😂😂😂👍👍
This boat is best we have and great for a bad chest lolo
Man for the size and weight of that boat she boogies quite nicely, I suppose though that that's what they wanted in those boats was to get in fast cause damage and get out or outrun the enemy atleast
Those twin turbo W18 diesels sound amazing, what I wouldn’t give to be an engineman on one of those.
Sim e são 3 ao mesmo tempo, 6 turbos e 54 cilindros😮
Loved the vdo. Would live it more if you captured more TORPEDO BOAT and less nature and the smoke lol
I agree, more pt boat and less panning around.
Tjänstgjorde som optisk signalmatros på T42 som tillsammans med T43(?) T54 och T56 utgjorde 4 mtb divisionen på gålö 1970, En underbar upplevelse i livet.
Feel cheated , when I was in Stockholm it was just the little white ferries to ride on .
Funny how theres all those people on board yet theres one person or maybe more that never even see the journey and thats the guys under deck
How much to draft this old bago bolts
They sound like big Detroit Diesel 8V71 or 12V71 engines
Does anyone know what kind of insane boost pressure they run with?
It ain't a supra Rune haha.
I don’t know but I do know the run spoon engines with T66 Turbo/Nos and a motec system exhaust they got from Hector way back in the Vietnams days
Fine boat and well preserved! But its cool to see all the hipster people filming with their mobile and being so proud of the Swedish navy. Sorry, for real in 2020 this is not what it is all about :)
That torpedo boat is old heck my friend.. If you compare its hp and technology to newer boats it still rocks IF you look at how old it is.. But the sound is unbeatable!
Var kan man köpa mössan ??? //Lars
F me, they were getting very very close around 3:50 ...
I want to see the gps speed at 13:00 and after, that thing is shifting!
How many died of smoke inhalation
41 kits….yeah bois and guhrls.
Definitely one boat where the throttle goes up to 11. It is clear that the father was a Deltic, but what about the mother?
It is running 3 Isotta Fraschini four stroke w18 engines. They were made way before the Deltic, but still, 3 cylinder banks per engine, only not atriangle shape :)
More cylinders than a Deltic locomotive, but fewer pistons. They both sound great! Many years ago I took the Fjord Expressboot from Bergen to Larvik, and it had three huge diesels that pushed us over 40 knots - what a blast it was to stand outside as we powered through swells rolling in from the Atlantic. Fun days!
Smoke on the water...can u fix it from smoke belcheng?
#dieselgate
don't be silly. In the 1950s they were more concerned about getting maximum performance than tying themselves into knots worrying about carbon emissions. That's quite normal for diesels of that vintage.
jassy mortz wait for the turbos you spool problem solved
Which company built those turbochargers.
Not sure at all but I strongly believe that they are made by Brown Boveri. Nowadays Asea Brown Boveri aka ABB.
In my job we got Brown Boweri turbochargers in v16 twin turbo diesels and damn they are loud! Almost as loud as these in video.
Isotta
Ha ha, damn near swamped the modern navy as they blew past! 🤣🤣
Awesome boat, but questionable seamanship, going in such close proximity to the other vessels at that speed. Should be taking a wider berth with that wake.
Welcome to Stockholm archipelago!
There are a lot of vessels competing for space here. This doesn't look too bad.
Yes, as someone in a sailboat, you appreciate when they keep distance. With regards to the speed, big planing hulls pull a lot more wake when they are below the planing threshold, so some areas with a 10kt speed limit can be absolutely awful if there are a lot of big motor boats out and about.
Härlig film!

Ja.
16:14 Horn sound because no more fuel.
Did you refit this boat to diesel engines, all PT boat's were powered by 3 Packard gas(100 octane aviation fuel) an turbocharged. PT 658 was refitted to diesel for cheaper fuel costs
This is not an american PT boat, it is a swedish motor torpedo boat, powered by its original engines
@@stormyc88 Sorry bout that mtb's were used for GB, ITALY, SWEDEN, even Germany. Our boats were designated PT(Petrol) boat's due to petrol(gas) engines. You are correct
@@paullion3763 It was converted to diesel, when it was restored. Because the original Isottas were missing, so they installed newer dieselversion of the same engines. 3x Isotta Fraschini CRM 18 D/SS. 1650 hp each. You can find videos of Mtb T28, T38 and T46, they do all have ther original petrolengines.
Чей это катер кто производитель
maybe is not the same when is on te water a disel engein than it is on the concret and it have to move many wheels loaded ! well a think hahahaha i don't now!! grettens for every boddy!
Try some injector cleaner.
Woo, Wee. Open up them American powerful engines and let them run wild.🇺🇸💖
I actually think these were built in Sweden
@@weaponizedautism6199 Well Okay. They still sound awesome.😊👍👍
"Isotta Fraschini" is a major Italian engine builder.
To the Ship's crewmen,
Please give the Present-Day President a Letter of Recommendation for Renewing That Diesel Motor with Up-Graded Diesel Fuel that Does Not Smoke Up like that. That is Definitely Bad for the EPA of our Nation. Please Inveigle the Personnel that Involves these type of Issues Nationwide for All Vessels like this one Shown.
Oh behave! 🙄
Shut up hippie
Why isn't anyone wearing life jackets on this old army boat?.
They are just about all wearing life jackets you twat , look again
@@a.c.r3660 And it`s not an ` army boat` , double twat.
Chris Wearing :He probably thinks the Navy’s main mode of transport is a tank!
@@a.c.r3660 he must be blind, one geezer especially wasn't taking any chances, ha had the biggest orange life jacket I've ever seen, could of used it as a boat itself.
They have pfds.. personal flotation device
??
Do you smoke 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Detroit diesel!
No Isotta Frachini now diesel. But when I served on these boats from 1972-1975 it was gasoline. And the enginees had mechanical compressors. High octane with a lot of lead sometimes it was 130 octane. I think we sometimes got it from the military flying troups.
What a horrible stinky noisy thing. 🙉🙊🙈😷🤢
