Something I've never gotten to understand is how come the military doesn't hire Biomedical engineers to create a system that measures blood levels/passing out on the pilot and immediately turns on autopilot to keep altitude. That can't be more expensive than a single plane and pilot.

There is something similar to that called auto GCAS system (automatic ground collision avoidance system)

Think about what you just said.... Damn every kind of possible engineer known to mankind.
If that's what they're going to do why even have a pilot in there in the first place..
Once a computer starts regulating what you can and can't do and a missile is about to take you out of the air you might as well just jump out the plane and let the computer fly it home as a matter of fact why even get into plain at all?
There are rules to flying low but if you can get down low enough you can confuse a lot of computers. Believe It or Not computers are the easiest thing to fool. so when that computer is forcing you back up into that machine behind you what's the difference.... Imagine knowing you can keep pulling and then the computer saying that the blood in your head or your feet whichever it may be says you can't.
The pilots know what is going to make them pass out they pass out enough to know the limits of their body and the aircraft itself.
If they are fighting so hard to where they're going to pass out it's probably better that they take a nap before they hit the ground anyway

Great video !! I was lucky enough to get several rides in the back seat of an F-4C Phantom in the 80's. The most G's I experienced was 5.5 with typically 3 to 4 g's with basic flight maneuvers. Under those G loads my arms weighed a ton, my nose itched and I couldn't raise my arm to scratch it. The helmet felt like it was going to be permanently implanted in my skull and I sweated like a pig the minute we took off on the first ride. On subsequent rides I learned to 'Gumby' my body and totally relax during times of low G's in preparation for the next high G load, even then I still sweated like a pig. After each ride, without exception, I felt like I had had a full body workout that lasted 1.5 hours, I was drained. Flying fighters is a physically demanding line of work at 5.5 G's I couldn't imagine 9 G's. And the oxygen mask, it doesn't blow air into your face, you have to suck in to trip the valve to get the air to flow. What fun LOL. Thanks for the video !!

It seems like the jets are hindered in their engineering designs and capability, if you take human limitations out of the equation, seems like you can achieve true air superiority by designing jets that can push engineering design.

It’s not easy to get this great job and a lot of people don’t understand what a pilot does or what it takes to even make it in to the program to even give you a chance to be chosen for the fighter pilot program. So again thank you but we know deep down how cool this is for you, hell it just cool to watch. I asked a question on TikTok but I’ll ask here because I really want to know. 2 things:
    1. 1:43 That Model demonstration (mostly used in model debriefs) though! 😁
    2. Does it feel like the feeling when you are about to go down the first hill of a roller coaster, which I hate, and you feel like all of your organs in you abdomen are pushed up? Or is it different? 🤔😊

    • @LarsHofman

As an aerobatic pilot I can say that it is very different. I too experience this "falling down" fear in the stomach when going down first hill or being dropped on a rollercoaster. But in the air, I have none of that feeling in my stomach. Positive G's are just making you feel very heavy and you have to fight it by straining. Negative G's mostly give you the feeling in your head like hanging up side down for a while so that your head becomes red. This feeling times ten is like how it feels at -4 or -5G's. Really terrible and that's why most pilots don't like negative G's.

Along the same axis but in different direction. Positive G is from head to feet, negative is from feet to head. All of the aircraft systems and the agsm are designed to counter loss of blood from the head so pulling negative g is far more uncomfortable because the aircraft systems are actually making the blood movement to the head worse
