Michael, the intro is so well done!🙌 You understand exactly how to get people to watch the entire video! 😅 YT is a skill based platform, so you will be fine for the future! Good Job! 😊
Amoma is an ilonggo/hiligaynon words means to care or nuture. Sta. Barbara Golf course is the oldest Golf course in the PH and its built by Scottish expatriates employed by Philippine Railways.
Great video. Love the Amoma restaurant. That looks so awesome and even better when the lights are on. The golf course looks great too. Sadly I can't golf anymore as it bothers my shoulders too much and would make me play worse that I already did before lol.
I enjoyed your vlog of my hometown. Came to Santa Barbara the first time 23 years ago and fell so in love with it, we bought a lot for our future retirement. We finally retired in 2022 and live down behind the church.
What an interesting and unusual place (the Vietnamese owned operation)! These are the hidden gems you just won't see normally on others' channels, Mike! It's the reason you're bound to grow this channel to it's full potential IMO... Having SMEs (subject matter experts) beside you helps as well... It brings authenticity and perspectives that are unique and fill in the rest of the story so to speak... Thanks, bro... 🙏🙏🙏 👍😎👍
So beautiful, wasn't it ! I'm not a golfer, but sometimes I'll watch a game on the TV, the bright green grass, park like setting always is relaxing. I enjoyed hearing the stories in this video. I have heard Vietnamese coffee is wonderful. They have many types
There are government owned golf courses in the Philippines mostly owned and maintained by the military but open to the public: Camp Aguinaldo, Villamor, Navy, Intramuros, Veterans, Zamboanga, etc.
I'll be glad when you make more videos with the Common Folks. Most young foreign vloggers start with the masses so they can build up those subscription numbers. All is good you'll get there.
It figures the most beautiful restaurant/building in the Philippines is owned by Vietnamese. No doubt designed by him too. Wow what a gorgeous place and something Pilipinos can learn design from
Santa Barbara Golf Club is reputed to be rhe oldest existing Golf club in Asia.Constructed by the Scottish Railway engineers in the early 1900’s for the British & Scottish Enginners Incharged of Panay Railway operation .
As an avowed golf addict, I picked Bacolod to live in because of Bacolod CC in Murcia. Where I’ve been a member for 9 years. Now having said that, my first trip to play Iloilo CC had me wondering if I made the right decision. The Iloilo golf course is beautiful, like a well maintained park. Fortunately I am able to play it 12 times a year with a reciprocal agreement between the clubs. Price wise they are very close in what they offer membership wise for the playing rights, so you don’t need to purchase a share. Which as old as this course, they are probably not readily available. Now Bacolod is a bigger city but Iloilo is a much better run city. The amenities Iloilo offers versus Bacolod is notable. The restaurants are much better and more variety. It is a much cleaner city. Who knows one day I may end up there.
I can tell you it's exactly the same everywhere is the world, there are no private golf courses you can be a member at in the world you can join with a low income job.
If I recall a few years back, a sandwich snack was 500 pesos, one day visit was about 1500 for none members, I would say thats exclusive for few wealthy local that can afford it not the majority. 😂
@@JohnDoe-so9oy Yes just like every private golf club in the world, but plenty of members are people who went to Canada/USA to work as nurse, engineer type job and then retired back home. Then it's not expensive at all.
@@mohamedalkaboom hmmm. Granted crocodiles are more aggressive but since The Philippines crocodiles were once abundant and now severely endangered. My guess encountering one on a golf course is next to zero.
Fantail Pigeons. Fancier pigeons that you can raise and sell for their beauty, not necessarily meat. Or as many say just prettier rats with feathers...
Can a person earning minimum wage in Philippines play golf, NO its still a rich man's sport sadly not just Philippines but lots countries but at least in other countries mimimum wage can get you a round of golf but not in Philippines, Great video and i was hopjng to see you hit some ball's....FOURRRRR 😂
It's not really comparable though there are very few golf courses in the Philippines, most built by America and most didn't allow Filipinos to even play until decades later. So real comparison is can a minimum wage person in any other country afford a private country club membership? Golf in Canada eas so common so many small public courses even small towns for $25 you could do 18 holes (10-15 years ago)
@@davegoody9603 I was never any good but for work in corporate sales you have to golf a few times a week and lots of tournaments. My nickname should be Mulligan 😂
Thanks for another video of the unbeaten path of the Philippines your doing a good job as an ambassador for Canada
Great video Michael. This is a place I could eat at every day. Love the water feature. Beautiful 👍🇨🇦

What a beautiful place! 😀
So relaxing... with the sunlight and the breezes... I'd probably fall fast asleep lol
This place is awesome ❤❤❤
I want to move in here. A Scottish designed golf course! This is real. No need to go to Scotland. Great stuff Michael. Good video.

The best batshoy is in Iloilo

I saw that but I didn't realize the government runs them, I think the USA military started them?

In golf world it’s called club house , in the Philippines when you are playing golf you are rich , able to afford ,
I can tell you it's exactly the same everywhere is the world, there are no private golf courses you can be a member at in the world you can join with a low income job.
That golf course in Santa Barbara charges in dollar value not cheap. I guess it’s what keeps the exclusivity from the local.
Really? Are you sure about that? I Don't think that is correct at all. Why is everything listed in Pesos?
If I recall a few years back, a sandwich snack was 500 pesos, one day visit was about 1500 for none members, I would say thats exclusive for few wealthy local that can afford it not the majority. 😂
Then there’s your 200k membership plus yearly fees. That’s definitely exclusive for the wealthy locals the average Jose can’t afford that.
It's not open to the public though so you had to have come with a member, and then you say they charged the member more for your sandwich?

Nice Water Filter wow!
I see you still haven’t bought a razor ! Lol
My son worked at a golf course here in Florida for about 3 yrs. No one goes in the water to retrieve the balls. Alligators galore. Lol 😂
Haha Florida is a whole other level!
Philippines has crocodiles galore. A bit scarier

Do not mention or compare about USA golf standard , be careful they might hurt their feelings. He looks very humble guy
and they have clubs ! Just kidding :)
The caddies in the golf courses in Thailand are all female, I just thought you’d like to know.
Michael, show us how your toe is coming along in your next Video. Don, California. 1-29-2024. By the sound they mad it sounds like they are Doves.
This video was recorded before it was injured
